The ES A-squad staged a mini strike against their federation so they fielded a B/C squad. Of course Floro goes ahead and sets up ultra defensively to secure the 0-0 draw. That was one in many spirit crushing CMNT moments.

I’ve been following this team since gold cup 2000. This game tomorrow is our best chance at the World Cup since then. In 2000 (off the gold cup high) we went into Trinidad and lost badly 4-0. In 2004 Costa Rica came into swangard and beat us 3-1 after we lead 1-0 at the half from a dero goal. We were eliminated. In 2008 we were basically out after drawing to Jamaica and losing to Honduras in our first two matches - both at home. In 2012.. we know what happened and the 2018 cycle really went badly when we could only tie El Salvador 0-0 when they put out a weakened squad for their home game. If we had won that one we would have made the hex even with the 2-1 Honduras loss in the second last game. I think sometimes we need to revisit the past and realize how far we’ve come and how much better this team is now. We have put ourselves in such a good spot this cycle, have scored so many goals (you can only beat who’s in front of you) and haven’t really had a bad game.

Teams of the past would have a glimmer of hope at times but I think we all knew deep down they weren’t good enough (Hume kind of alluded to this during the post game). I’m excited. Let’s do this and see where we stand after the three September games. We would have Honduras at home, USA away and El Salvador at home.

Lets not do some revisionist stuff, Suriname IS a decent CONCACAF team. They are unlucky to be in a group with Canada. Would have run any other group.
To dominate in this way is something special. As predicted the older legs did seem to tire.

Have been critical of OneSoccer in the past but got to hand it to them. Tonight the feed is impeccable. Keep this up and I will happily continue to subscribe.

I think it is a bit of a trick question because they are different types of players.  Cav is a beast that can outmuscle a lot of defenders and is an absolute terror.  Larin is a finisher who needs support in a way that Cav doesn’t seem to.  Honestly, if David wasn’t written on the game sheet in permanent marker for the next 10 years, I suspect that Cav and Larin would combine pretty well.
Having said all that, if I am putting a team together to get a win in a Haitian cauldron, I am probably going with Cav to start.

They did have a fondness for MAK for some reason. But ya they did seem to overlook most of the roster if they we're not from major Euro clubs.
BTW I like that guy, he isn't a total homer. A reasonable fan that gave 60-40 advantage to Canada.

Not sure why.  I thought he had a great game.  Though David could have had a PK but generally hasn’t interfered and has been solid.

Davies showed a different side tonight, he did display his athleticism no doubt but he showed composure, decision and play making skills like I haven't seen before. His game has developed.

Zero reason for Herdman to not use his 3 other subs at this point. Get the stars off, don't risk injury.
