  1. It's on the whole team. Goalkeeper mistake yes, no way of knowing if they would have tied it up eventually. Not like the team looked like they would have seen it out at the end anyway, can only ride your luck so long. Onwards next week
  2. They've tried groups (4 and 3 team) in recent history and dropped them, are we really advanced enough to go back? The whole point seems to be maximizing MLS vs. Mexican games (especially in the US). I could see preliminary groups with everyone else played in a neutral location (i.e. Forge hosting a 4-team group of Central American and Caribbean teams, or in Miami) before getting to dance with the big boys over two legs
  3. This saves the most headaches - TFC and Forge go into CCL and everyone's happy. If the game must be played, they can have it between CCL matchdays to keep fit
  4. Forge might play them in the VCup next year if they keep the regional draw, could be an unofficial match for the belt...
  5. I think you'd have to go BC, and then AB+SK+MN (east of the Rockies). It's a huge area, but Edmonton-Winnipeg is shorter than Vic-Edmonton
  6. USL teams have big rosters, I think we need a couple years to get on their level. At one point though they were talking about inviting Canadian teams to an "Interleague Cup" they were planning pre-Covid, it would be cool to see local rivalries like Pacific vs. Tacoma, York9 vs. TFC-II, Forge vs. Rochester, HFX vs. a New England team, etc
  7. Yeah, first tiebreaker is head-to-head, so I think you'd look at a "mini-table" of the 5 involved teams. Forge have 8 from the games involving Forge-Cavs-York9-Atleti-Pacific At least one of the rest must have less in the event of a Cavs-York9 draw (needed for the 5-way tie) i.e. anyone whose taken 4+ points off the Eddies/HFX/Valour
  8. Article on the league's website says Kah indicated a domestic fullback was on trial and set to be signed. Eddie Edward? Did Chris Serban re-up in Calgary?
  9. There would have been enough dates, particularly if they dropped next year's GC. The format was already flimsy at best and the lack of a "complete rankings cycle" exposed it further, thankfully we appear to have caught a break (for once?) The only question now is how they can lay an easy path for the US and Mexico but still have them play each other
  10. Dunfield is killing me, being partisan is fine but don't yell into the mic ffs
  11. Bekker could grab a free kick or two against some poorly organized walls and make some highlight reels early on
  12. If Quebecois strikers are coming out of retiremne t If Quebecois strikers are coming out of retirement then Ali Gerba has to be available!
  13. tbf the Island team hardly needs to do preseason training in a warm-weather climate, but if the other 6 teams are going they might as well squeeze in!
  14. Good call on Blake Smith as the mystery Smith, he got cut from Cincinnatti last month and just recently "liked" a tweet from Mark Village about Pacific FC. That was me on reddit, I think I was confusing Jose Pina with "Pena" and assumed it was Adrian. AFAIK Adrian Pena isn't involved.
  15. Brilliant draw, especially because I assumed Cuba would've been secretly kept from drawing either Canada or the US, a bit like how UEFA keep certain nations from playing each other. The Cuban team usually don't leave with the entire squad when they play up here IIRC
  16. John's Herd, Man. That's great, not sure about the rest of the opening post from Roberto there. If anything, I think the "false dawn" repeated itself leading up to that WCQ at BMO Field against Jamaica (2008?) when Onstad punched it into his own net. Things went downhill from there.
  17. I always thought it would be cool to turn out for a random Pacific side, at least while indulging the fantasy that I could play footy at all. Even in my fantasy I assume I wouldn't be good enough for CanMNT. Why hate on players who are doing that for lesser teams than us? We have the youngsters coming through that we aren't going to need to rely on randoms as much as we used to...
  18. This reeks of Davies finally getting a place in the Bayern team and everyone involved agreeing that it would be better to keep that momentum going. Even though this is a FIFA date it makes sense. I'd happily trade it for Davies at the Olympic qualifiers in October but I somehow doubt it...
  19. Cavallini just scored for Puebla at home to Pumas in round 11 of the MX Clausura, close-range header. 1-0 now with 35 minutes to play.
