  1. On Dec 26th, this was said about their other top keeper Mark Halstead: "Meanwhile, Mellon admits Jayson Leutwiler may have to wait for his chance if Mark Halstead maintains his form in goal." http://www.shropshirestar.com/sport/shrewsbury-town-fc/2015/12/26/micky-mellon-thanks-shrews-fans-for-their-backing/ Well, Halstead just let in 7 goals today (after a string of fairly good games) so this sucks for Shrewsbury but will make it easier for Leutwiler to win his spot back when he's fit. The blame isn't 100% Halstead's though; Shrewsbury gave up two penalties, went a man down after 2 yellows and 2 of their players go injured. Leutwiler wasn't even on the bench for the game: http://www.instagram.com/p/BACjq0DhAf4/ When he posted the mask picture on instagram about 4 days ago, he said it would be "couple weeks till I'm 100% back".
  2. How long do discovery rights last for? In other news, Simeon is likely back in North America according to his twitter. I believe his mum lives in Jamaica and it is his aunt that lives in Mississauga, so he's likely enjoying some tropical sunshine in Jamaica.
  3. Matt mentioned it back in August but it's cool to see another much more recent picture.
  4. "...with current absentees Jayson Leutwiler and Jermaine Grandison now in full training." http://www.shrewsburytown.com/news/article/micky-mellon-pre-chesterfield-2878908.aspx "Jayson Leutwiler could return to the bench, after fully recovering from a broken nose and other facial injuries." http://www.shropshirelive.com/2016/01/01/match-preview-chesterfield-v-shrewsbury/ What he looks like with his mask:
  5. Luke Moore is training with Villa right now; rumours he might leave for the UK. http://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2015/12/30/luke-moore-could-be-set-for-move-back-to-uk/ I would love for Simeon to replace him!
  6. That's sad news. "Simeon Jackson is going to move on. He’s a great lad and been excellent around the place and consistent in his training and personality, he just needs a run of games, he hasn’t really had the opportunity. He’s got great movement, Premiership standard in my opinion. He’s match fit and ready, he just needs to be guaranteed starts." http://www.barnsleyfc.co.uk/news/article/lee-johnson-on-millwall-2875513.aspx @Fussball_eh We have room for one more forward we could sign at the Fury right? #bringSimeonhome What do you guys think now of his chances of being at Camp Poutine in a month?
  7. Well, the Italy rumour was phrased as "transfer" implying he would still have been under contract. http://www.transfermarkt.pt/lucas-cavallini/profil/spieler/221038 says end of July 2016 but that's likely less reliable than Wikipedia.
  8. Toje, you've done a great job of this for 2015. Want to start a thread for 2016? You may put this one as well: Mexico vs Senegal Feb 10th 9pm EST in Miami http://miseleccion.mx/la-seleccion-nacional-mexico-enfrentara-senegal/
  9. Source? EDIT: This I guess: http://twitter.com/thegoalkeeper/status/655854875377586176
  10. Link: http://www.philadelphiaunion.com/post/2015/12/10/philadelphia-union-announce-roster-moves-ahead-re-entry-draft Yes. The media in Lisbon think he will get loaned out again: http://desporto.sapo.pt/futebol/primeira_liga/artigo/2015/12/01/philadelphia-union-vai-devolver-steven-vitoria-ao-benfica
  11. Ya, he did get one. Besides the cuts afterwards that needed stiches for, he also broke his nose. He will need to use a mask once he returns to playing and will miss at least this weekend's game. http://www.shropshirestar.com/sport/shrewsbury-town-fc/2015/12/08/injured-leutwiler-to-don-mask-for-town/
  12. Some updates on Leutwiler: On November 28th: http://www.shropshirestar.com/sport/shrewsbury-town-fc/2015/11/28/stars-jayson-leutwiler-and-dom-smith-talks-on-hold-until-shrewsbury-town-stay-up/ "...Leutwiler would attract interest from Championship sides seeking competition for a first-choice keeper ..." On December 2nd: Lots of praise for him again http://www.shropshirestar.com/sport/shrewsbury-town-fc/2015/12/02/anthony-gerrard-urges-shrews-to-seal-leutwiler-deal/ Today (December 7th): Gets a pretty grim face injury playing Grimsby Town in the FA Cup. Was stretchered off just before the half. "Leutwiler had stitches in his lip, nose and eye area but was able to travel home on the team coach afterwards." http://www.shropshirestar.com/sport/shrewsbury-town-fc/2015/12/07/grimsby-town-0-shrewsbury-town-0-report/soccer-the-fa-cup-second-round-grimsby-town-v-shrewsbury-town-4/ I hope he'll be OK. If it's the face he got hit in, and he has no eye problems as a result, a concussion is unlikely right?
  13. http://www.thevoyageurs.org/forums/topic/24161-jeffrey-monakana/?page=1 I don't know how you go back in time so far to read the tweets but it did happen!
  14. Back to Arfield: http://www.skysports.com/football/news/11708/10079868/scott-arfields-10-to-tackle-superstitions-rumours-and-cleverest-team-mate A fun little semi-frivolous podcast interview but you get a good sense of the guy. What's the nickname he can't say on the podcast?
  15. Full interview was in Turf (Burnley's matchday magazine). Pay £2.99 to get the digital version in itunes. Search for "Burnley FC MDP" http://www.burnleyfootballclub.com/club/claret_and_you.aspx
  16. Well, he's still in that "sweet spot" as described by Sam; he's a very good player, but not good enough to have a good chance of playing of Azurri(senior) any time soon.
  17. This would be the one to accept unless you wait for June. 1)Leave northern England/Scotland for some place warmer in late March 2) Play in the 3rd largest soccer stadium in the world by capacity. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_association_football_stadiums_by_capacity Azteca is bigger than Wembley. More interesting to tell your mates than "I stayed in Burnley over the weekend".
  18. bump. No news though. Latest Cristante update: He got called to the U-21 camp in September as mentioned but he did not get any playing time. Seems he was in camp but didn't even make the bench for the game. http://www.uefa.com/under21/season=2017/matches/round=2000649/match=2016134/postmatch/commentary/index.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Italy_national_under-21_football_team Wasn't called for October vs Slovenia & Ireland: http://www.uefa.com/under21/season=2017/matches/round=2000649/match=2016144/prematch/player-lists/index.html http://www.uefa.com/under21/season=2017/matches/round=2000649/match=2016135/prematch/player-lists/index.html Wasn't called in November vs Serbia & Lithuania: http://www.uefa.com/under21/season=2017/matches/round=2000649/match=2016143/prematch/player-lists/index.html http://www.uefa.com/under21/season=2017/matches/round=2000649/match=2016136/prematch/player-lists/index.html Did he refuse Oct/Nov calls or did he not make the cut? Next games for him would be in March: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2017_UEFA_European_Under-21_Championship_qualification_Group_2 _______________ It seems he is the only player on their U-21 squad + alternates that is NOT based in Italy. There are constant rumours about his return to Italy despite having over 3½ years left on his Benfica contract. http://www.footballscouting.it/calciomercato/bryan-cristante-verso-il-ritorno-in-italia/ _________________- If I was him I'd pick Canada at this point; the choice is being a starter or at least a sub at Azteca in front of 60 000+ fans or maybe sit on a bench in Andorra? Almost impossible to move from not really making the U-21s to regular player for the full Azzurri in the next 3 years. Yes. This was mentioned in a Squizzicle in May 2014 Floro also revealed that 19-year-old AC Milan midfielder Bryan Cristante – who was born in Italy but holds a Canadian passport through his father – is on his radar, and that Canadian officials are “waiting for his decision.” While it appears unlikely that Cristante would choose to represent Canada, the fact that Floro has made overtures should be an encouraging sign for Canadian fans. http://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2014/05/22/canmnt-benito-floro-says-success-upcoming-friendlies-important-psychology-and
  19. His CanadaSoccer page said he was born in Canada then moved to Portugal when he was a baby. His wikipedia says he was born in Portugal but lived in Canada as a child. -------------------------------- Did Scott ever live in Canada? Has he ever been to Canada at all? I don't care much either way to be honest.
  20. His wikipedia said he went back to Tranmere Rovers for early 2015. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iain_Hume The season in India is too short.
  21. We know Hume goes back to England. If Jackson's contract ends in early January, what would he do between then and September/October?
  22. Interesting interview mostly about his musical choices but some interesting career and CanMNT things: http://beatsandrhymesfc.com/simeon-jackson-interview-canada-striker-sketching-the-game-and-groove-theories/ Things are tough for him at Barnsley: http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/4738379/No-action-for-Simeon-Jackson.html he has been getting more playing time since then but Barnsley keep losing so not a good sign... When his contract is up January 3rd, do you think he will try MLS? Would he be a starter in MLS? Right now he's having trouble with a team that's in the League One relegation zone; is he maybe NASL level? I think that if what he wants most is minutes, if De Guzman can go from La Liga to NASL, Jackson could go from Premier League to NASL and be a starter.
  23. Well, since Scotland will have nothing but friendlies until September 2016 (WCQ), now would be a great time for him to join the CanMNT team! Scotland seems to have nothing scheduled for November.
  24. He has since recovered from his back injury and is starting again. Some decents saves during their last game:
  25. I thought this only applied to those born after April 2009: This Scottish born Canadian had two sons: First born before the date; second born after. The first one became Canadian.; the second didn't (because of the change in the law). http://news.nationalpost.com/news/canada/canadian-dad-fighting-to-gain-citizenship-for-son-born-in-peru-i-will-accept-nothing-less-than-a-passport Is this different for Hedges because one of his parents is not already a citizen (they should have done the peperwork before April of 2009)?
