Holy crap, the thread about how happy we are with the way the league is going instantly turns into a self centered, somebody better acknowledge "i was right about everything".  News flash, you dont have to make every thread about what you said 3 years ago, and what you imagine other people said.

This was all I was trying to say in my poor attempt at humour. It’s always the same conversation

  2. A differing philosophy is a pretty common reason for new clubs to split off, and fans will always be cannibilized from existing teams. I followed the Whitecaps pretty closely prior to the CPL, but I've hardly watched a game this season. I have no clue whether the support for a new team is there in Ottawa, but I wouldn't write it off out of fear, before doing the appropriate market research

I don't think the average casual fan is nearly as invested in this as the people on this forum. Look at Edmonton, their attendance didn't magically change by any huge amount simply by being in the CPL versus the NASL. At this level of pro sports, people have to be made to care for some reason, it's not just going to happen by default.

Than why would the opinion of the casual fan be a road block to starting a CPL team in Ottawa?

If someone tries to start up a CPL team here while the Fury are still around, it'll look like a joke and tarnish locals' view of the CPL.

Surely the locals' view of the Fury is also at jeopardy from this ordeal?

Because there isn’t a 8th locked in yet.

And that's surprising. They had 7 clubs join at once with nothing but a shared vision, but now they've shown that the league is a reality and they can't find one other partner? These cities have had a long time to prepare at this point.

One of my favourite grounds personally is Wycombe wanderers Adams Park. It’s a 10,000 capacity stadium with a 1717 capacity standing room terrace.

How far out of the city is this? It doesn't look like anything else is around

  7. I think his strengths and weaknesses are similar in both positions. The difference for me is simply a difference in perception and expectations for different roles. In attack, I don't think he puts himself in dangerous positions nearly often enough, nor does he make particularly intelligent or well timed runs. Not like a Jonathan David type player who can buy himself space in tight quarters. Instead he succeeds through power strength and dribbling ability. Similarly, on defense he can get caught out of position, and he occasionally fails to track a run. But his speed, strength, and ability to win one on one battles make him an effective wide defender. I'm actually thrilled that he's getting tested at both positions, because he has plenty of room to improve on both sides of the ball.

Kadin Chung far more disappointing in my view.

Many goals against can be pinned on Legault. I can't remember many that I would blame Kadin for. I quite like Verhoven though. He adds much more to the attack than Chung does as a RB

  9. I'm sick of the Fury, and I'd gladly welcome another group in Ottawa. I do feel for their fans though; kept in the dark and left to fumble for a valid defense of their club with nothing of truth and substance to build from. I get that OSEG has a strangle hold on the market, but fans do hold power. You have to wonder what they would choose if given a say.

No  - top of the diamond in an adventurous 442.  Not something I see much these days.

I actually turned the game on out of interest. David seems to have quite a free role and he pops up in some interesting positions. He doesn’t seem afraid to collect the from deep, but he’s also in and about the penalty box a bunch. Regardless of where he gets it he’s always looking play the ball forward and attack
