are we getting spoilt or what?...Bayern is playing Hertha Berlin and there is no mention of the game on this board....well Davies is on the bench with Hernandez at LB. Bayern leading 1-0

Who wants to talk about our boy losing his spot to some no-name French player

This is why they don’t let him in their conference but I’ll back Duane, Borges signed to be sold as did Attardo, let’s be real Zator had options and has for awhile, even payday wise staying in Sweden makes more sense.

Even if Zator ends up never playing for York, that doesn’t make what Duane said true. If there was a guaranteed deal he would have just signed directly in Sweden.

Yeah, this could be really interesting. I've been trying to watch every Besiktas game, and Larin has sort of identified this exploit that tends to really confuse other teams. Someone on r/besiktas I think said he plays as a shadow striker, except from the wing, which I think is the best way to put it.

He'll definitely make the occasional run up the side, but otherwise, he'll be right with Aboubakar up front. This creates this situation where the full back isn't sure whether he should be marking him in the box, or staying on the flank to cover the LB (hmmm do we have one of those? :) There are definitely attacking wingers, but I don't think I've seen anyone commit to this niche role as much as him.

If he can do something similar for Canada, that would leave the other team with a pretty difficult choice... leave Larin alone in the box, or leave Davies open on the left. It's definitely unusual, but it sounds fun on paper.

I felt like ghosting into space was one of David's best qualities at Gent as well. I still don't love him as a #9. he loses too many duels. I'd be interested to see a front three of Larin - Cavillini - David, with Davies and perhaps Buchanan providing the width. Cav can occupy the CB and make near post runs leaving David and Larin to find space. I think that's largely the role David played when he won golden boot at the gold cup

  4. I'm surprised that nobody has touched on David's and Larin's positions yet considering they're the ones that have altered roles this season. Does anyone think Larin will play wing for Canada?

I continue to be surprised at the consensus on Davies position for Canada

With a need for competition and/or depth at RB, maybe they would have a look at Farsi.  I have never seen him play but he has garnered some good reviews from several around this forum so who knows?

Farsi has loads of talent but I’d say Kadin Chung is more prepared for the next step.

I agree, MLS would actually lose more by locking the players out for a season then any of the big four, who have close to a world wide monopoly, while MLS has major competition worldwide for players.  They will be all in for an agreement and a season.

Not to mention it's during a time when US/Canadian internationals and MLS graduates are actually performing in top European competitions.

I forget where I read this (probably somewhere on Twitter) but the idea is that CPL off season is too long for some of these guys, so off season loans to Europe could become common place. Seems to be the case here.

Some teams only played 3 weeks of competitive soccer last season. That's not nearly enough for anyone

So if this does happen, does One Soccer pick up St. Etienne matches too? 😀

I’ve asked them a couple times to go after Besiktas games, but it would probably be far easier for them to games from another Ligue 1 side. I don’t know who has rights to the Turkish league in Canada

Can't believe all the bitching and moaning over David's "suffering" at Lille who are sitting in first place in their league.

    Are you watching the games?

David needs to do one of the following:

    1 - get taller

    2 - get stronger

    3 - get faster

I doubt he is doing the first so I think he needs to focus on 2 and/or 3.  Yes he made some decent runs today but he is very regularly out muscled or out hustled.

I honestly think he's being played out of position. His strengths aren't being used at all. But yes, he loses out far too often.

  11. Lille up 1-0 at half. A quiet half for David. They need to find a way to get him more involved. I think he's one of the best playmakers on the team but he rarely has the ball with the chance to get his head up.
