Yesterday, all the sports sites in the Hispanic area of Concacaf highlighted that it is virtually certain that El Salvador would be in the final hex after the cancellation of the friendly dates in June.
Even the Spanish journalist closely linked to the Concacaf Mister Chip (Alexis Martin-Tamayo) referred to it. In fact, this journalist usually anticipates the official statements of Concacaf, because he works indirectly for this Conferderación, advertising his tournaments.
In Panama there is a saying that says: when the river sounds, stones bring.
Let's not be surprised that all of this is well cooked. The best thing that could happen is that more FIFA dates  will be suspended and thus a total format change would have to be made.
I attach some links, sorry they are in Spanish but they refer the same

CONCACAF has released a statement to say the Nations League Finals "will be rescheduled to a later date" and the Gold Cup qualifiers are "postponed".    That should eat up at least one FIFA window.
    https://www.concacaf.com/en/article/concacaf-statement-regarding-the-suspension-of-the-concacaf-nations-league-finals-road-to-gold-cup-qualifiers-and-flow-caribbean-club-championship

Could be a moot point because FIFA is starting bilateral discussions about changing the FIFA calendar in response to Covid

Concerning the men’s international match calendar:
To postpone all international matches due to be played during the upcoming June 2020 window; and To organise bilateral discussions with confederations concerning 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in order to finalise a revised match schedule pending health and safety developments. https://www.fifa.com/who-we-are/news/dedicated-covid-19-working-group-proposes-recommendations-after-first-meeting

Well let’s just hope there is a change in regulations lol. Who knows what will happen. At this point anything could happen depending on how long it takes for WCQ to begin again. Some streamlined qualification would be nice. Get rid of the whole thing and create another method of qualification

Best case scenario would be they run out of dates for the hex and are forced to do two groups of 4.
I could also foresee them delaying the Gold Cup to 2022 and using June 2021 to play 4 or even 6 games.  They'd probably ask for a special exception from FIFA to get player release outside the normal window.

The qualifying process to determine the 6th team in the HEX HAS been disrupted. There is no way to dispute that. It's a fact
You may not care, think we should just say whatever and move on. Fine. But you can't lie about reality.
The process to determine the 6th position has been disrupted. Period, bottom line, undisputable

I agree with KTH, your format would never fly. We could draw USA first round then If we win, Mexico 2nd round. Meanwhile Curaçao or somebody could draw minnows all the way through and get in without doing anything.
My favoured system would be to copy Asia. Have bottom 6 teams play to get to 32 teams. 8 groups of 4. Top team in each group plus best 4 2nd place teams gives you 12 teams for 2 groups of 6. Winners of these groups go to World Cup. Runners up play each other, winner goes to World Cup, loser goes to intercontinental playoff.
I should clarify, this is what I’d like to have happened but it’s likely too late for that now. Not sure there would be enough windows to potentially do this still.

Maybe making 3 groups of 4 instead of 2 groups of 6 would streamline it (since each team would play 6 games instead of 10 assuming home and away with each team in your group). Winners of groups go to World Cup, top 2 runners up play each other for right to play intercontinental playoff. 14 match days, same as our current system has to go through the low seed route.

Do ifs and but riddles really apply to global pandemics?
Every league if they get the opportunity will go to mini tournaments. So should Concacaf. With so much being lost the best bet is to good to winner take all scenarios. If for no other reason to create some excitement. The " fairest" options which is subjective anyways should be making way for what's best for business

The fairest thing would be to put Canada - El Salvador to play for a spot in the hex. Because of the Covid-19 situation, the friendly matches are cancelled and FIFA ranking is stagnant. The CSA could take advantage of this situation and request it to CONCACAF.

Concacaf isn't El Salvador or Canada so its irrelevant. I'm telling you not as a Canadian but I think the best thing to do from Concacaf's point of view is have a 2 leg playoff between the two teams. That's what I think. It's the right thing to do in these circumstances. That's it that's all. It would also generate some much needed revenue

I would hope that the CSA would at least pursue the option of lobbying FIFA for a chance at the hex.

Watch us not make the hex just from all the games being cancelled.
A playoff against El Salvador for the final spot would be the only fair solution.  It would piss them off but at least we’d CONCACAF someone for once.

If you think about it, selling out 2 games against team who likely has fairly small appearance fees like T&T is a good plan. Toronto and the larger cities seem to struggle selling any more than 15k against a team like T&T, so really, 2 games of around 7k is almost as good. Let the smaller CPL places get the smaller countries, and share the big games around in the MLS cities. Will grow the game across the country.

I feel bad for this guy.
I know it's only the first game of the season. I knew the whitecaps would struggle to get Cavallini the ball, but I never envisioned it being that bad. The whitecaps were absolutely dreadful. Lucas was an island on his own. And it wasn't just him, Freddy Montero didn't get any of the ball either. The whitecaps seem to have no defined way of playing. All the players hold on to the ball for too much, or are not on the same page in general. I like Marc Dos Santos, but his group play with no believe and no confidence. I hate that Lucas Cavallini is in this situation, but that's what he signed up for. The few chances he had could have gone better for sure, but if this is how the season is going to go I think Lucas is going to want to jump ship and I wouldn't blame him. The players around him are just not good enough. The French-Serbian did well and the Colombian winger did well at times, but there was no coherency in the attack, just players doing their best to create chances as individuals. Things don't look good.

Unless I am going crazy TFC only play one match in that period on March 21st, away to Cincinnati. Next match is April 4th. They couldn't sacrifice him for one game? Probably not lol
Edit: Shome and ZBG are in the same boat. One away game in Minnesota on the 21st.

With two of the brightest stars in Concacaf in Davies and David, it would be a real travesty for Canada and the Concacaf federation if we fail to make the Hex. That would be a total lost opportunity to showcase the new generation of talented players that are being developed ...the type of players that can raise fans from their seats with performances that result in standing ovations. The CSA really needs to do everything in their  power to try and make this happen.....it's all hands on deck.
