  1. 2. Stream just went live: http://www.atdhe24.net/watch2/0/160/416047/watch-cuba-vs-canada.html (Wrong channel though - it's TSN Euro coverage at the moment).
  3. OK, here's the link. I left the files as .flv format as I was having some issues converting them. If somebody wants to convert them and reupload, please do so. It's missing the first 8-10 minutes of the game as I got home late and is missing 2 or 3 minutes of the second half (around the 53rd minute) because my stream died. Also the stream was occasionally stuttering. It's still better than the Icelandic TV stream that the Voyageurs have put up with before so hopefully this is acceptable. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=LJG18IMK
  4. My stream just died for a couple of minutes so there will be a gap in my coverage. Hope nothing important happened.
  5. Has the stream died for anybody else or is it just me?
  6. Yes, I'm recording the stream directly. Just trying to convert the flv format into mp4 and then I'll need to figure out how to torrent it or something after.
  7. I'm also attempting to record the stream. I missed the first five minutes or so, but hopefully I'll have the rest. Not sure how I'll upload it, but we'll see what happens.
  8. Good for you. I've got TSN2 included but not Bold. Not everybody lives in Ontario.
  9. The game against Ecuador is too late to be used for the May 2011 calculations and Panama doesn't have any games scheduled before the Gold Cup, so that won't be changing. I suppose if we played and won a few games against some minnows in the next few weeks it might put us above them. If the July 2011 rankings are used we can still move up quite a bit if we win some games in the Gold Cup (especially the one against the US).
  10. Just curious, but as a collegiate athlete for most of her career, would Kara have even been eligible for any type of payments? I know college hockey/baseball players aren't allowed to accept anything from pro teams including transportation costs but I'm not sure if national teams would get an exception.
  11. What really kills us for the July rankings is that the period July 21, 2009 - July 21, 2010 we only got one result (a draw in a friendly against Venezuela). This means that the average points for that time period was a mere 27.6 which is the second largest component of the July 2011 ranking. A good run in the Gold Cup this year should still get us into the top 8, but playing more friendlies this year probably hurts more than helps as they will likely just bring down the average.
  12. If we beat Ukraine we should have 448 points next ranking. 408 for a draw, 388 for a loss (all values could be off by a couple points, but should be close). No matter what the result is we will improve our ranking next month as two more of our World Cup Qualifying games drop in the weightings and stop dragging down the Gold Cup results.
  13. These games against minnows are actually especially valuable for Canada. The only games that we can use to cap potential players and commit them to Canada under the current system are the Gold Cup (which has very limited roster space) and the World Cup Qualifiers. The problem under the previous qualifying was that we basically had two games where we could experiment before we had to field our strongest team every game in the group stage (at least until eliminated). Now we can use the first round plus some of the second round games to bring some younger players into the squad and prevent ano
  14. In the interest of contributing some facts to this debate (not that it will matter), here is a very good article which looks at the gap between women and men in athletics. It includes tables showing how the women's records compare against the records for men/boys which shows that in most cases the women's record falls between the record for 14 and 15 year old boys. http://article.nationalreview.com/367246/olympian-political-correctness/todd-gallagher?page=1
  15. To follow up on this since I have a spreadsheet with some of these calcs set up. If Canada plays no games before May 2011 we would have approx. 352 points in the FIFA rankings which is about where we were before the Gold Cup (roughly 92nd in the world). If we play and win 5 friendlies between May 2010 and April 2011 against the 75th ranked team we would have about 671 points, good for a ranking in the low 40s. If we play and lose one friendly between now and the end of April 2010 we would drop about 37 points in the May 2011 rankings because it would average down the Gold Cup results.
