In the spirit of the times, I am demanding a recount!! I will not concede that I have not placed first in the Voyageurs league this year!!!
j/k. Congrats to "Jo Adrenaline" for winning this weird MLS Fantasy league season and also to "oldergoaler" for 2nd place finish. I came in 3rd dang.
But Sunday wasn't a total loss as the Impact made the playoffs with a great 2nd half comeback against DC.

Hamilton Viewing Party - Pheasant Plucker
The Facebook event comes along with a set of excuses why you need to miss work Friday afternoon
Watch party only for the El Salvador match on the 6th. Honduras match is too early in the day for anyone here to make it. I'm off next week so if S'toon people want to they can come over to my place to watch the Honduras match, so yes, Jeff's place applies for Sept. 2nd. Pants optional.
Quick details: VIP Room at Sports On Tap starting at 7:30pm MT.
What time is the thing at St. Regis planned for? I get in the Vancouver at 7pm PT. I'm staying right downtown at an AirBnB on Nelson St. about 4 blocks up from BC Place. Will probably be good to go around 8pm.
I posted this in the fb event, but I thought I'd share here too. I think it's self-explanatory.
Listen folks. It's the time before a big important game that I start to get nervous and neurotic. This is especially true this time with Mexico being the opponent and the huge crowd. Mexico is a tough opponent, of course, and there will be sizeable away support. The size of that support is just another thing to get nervous and neurotic about.
It's time to stop all that.
On the podcast that I do with Jeff Salisbury and Lars Matthew, From the Black Hole, we recently interviewed Canadian Men's National Team assistant coach, Micheal Findlay. I found it very interesting how he talked about the change in mentality of the Men's National Team players, from a mentality where they felt they were always up against tremendous odds, to one where they were confident they could achieve things that they once thought were beyond them.
It's time for us to change our mentality too.
Worrying about the performance, worrying about the size of the away support, worrying that soccer isn't the sport of choice in Canada, etc, etc, is all born of pointless insecurities. Enough already. Regardless of our current opponent, we have a decent chance of making the hex. Regardless of the away support, we might set a record for highest attendance at a National Team match. Let's do the things we CAN do to enjoy this and the things we NEED to do to create the atmosphere for our boys in red.
Get to the pre-game early. Get your friends there too.
Link up with others in The Voyageurs family.
Leave for the match on time.
Sing your heart out.
Follow your capo and be coordinated.
Enjoy the ride.
Enjoy the after party no matter what, and remember we just witnessed history in the making.
Very important we build this.
We MUST leave at 5:45. I don't care if you just ordered a beer. We need to be in that stadium making noise for our team as early as possible.
The Mexicans have march planned that will involve thousands.
We need to push this.

We love you Canada, we do. We love you Canada, we do. We love you Canada, we do.
Oh Canada we love you.
I've been meaning to put together a chant sheet which has as many Canada chants and club chants adapted to be Canadian chants. I've been lucky enough to have attended games in several cities and have a reasonable grasp on many of the local chants that have been adapted. However, despite the winter months being slower for my work, and therefore perfect for these kinds of projects, I've gotten nothing done besides getting a copy of Califax's chant sheet. I thought maybe I'd solicit some help. If you know a standard Canada chant or a chant that has been adapted from your local club, please post it in this thread. Include as much information as you can: lyrics, tune, actions, variations, youtube links if you have them. Once there is a reasonably large number I will copy and paste them and build a big chant sheet with them.
Ive been watching Ian Hume playing in India. He's been scoring like a mad man over there. We definitely need him against Mexico have him and Larin play up top. Hoilett, Johnson, Akindele in mid field moving up. Hutchinson and de Guzman helping the defence. Doniel Henry, Jakovic and de Jong as defense. Borjan as goalie. We stand a chance especially in BC Place. Common Floro you can set this up!
