Larin should be called in.  The Cavillini-Larin rotation is freaking awesome.  Both players provide different skill sets and gives OZ different options on how he wants to play.  I don't think you can send AJH home, in case we really need a goal or some type of fluke injury, very likely Edwards for Larin.   Remember Larin would have made  onthe roster if it was not for his DUI punishment.  Even with Larin's demeanour I guarantee you he wants to be out there, the kid loves Canada and bleeds the Red & White.  Just watching his fellow countrymen and the success this squad has made without him, I can only hope he's realized a few things to make better choices int he future.
Originally I was going to say bring in WJ, since him and Scotty have always linked up well in the mid triangle when they played together. Always felt WJ brought the energy but it was either the lack of other player's motivation or the coach's attitude he was just frustrated with. TBH, everytime WJ has played for us, he has always played with fire.
The only thing is now, man Osorio's performance last night, wow.  Well done man, I always support every Canadian and have criticized your performances in the past, yesterday you were a difference maker for us, great work. So yah adding WJ is an upgrade to the roster, but Bernier/Osorio.... it may just be a depth thing to add him but I could see him being left off. Since he " was recovering from an injury" but played a full 90, when TFC embarrassed them in Orlando.

this is a bit of a tangent, but this is an industry I really need to get into.  Straight up if anyone knows someone who's coming out with a microbrew and needs a label designed, I will do it for free for exposure.

My general take is that Malouda should have been allowed to play. I get that it can seem silly but CONCACAF needs more competition and I actually think it is neat that CONCACAF had traditionally given these territories an opportunity to play some of their best athletes.
Malouda was born and raised in French Guiana. He still lives there and will probably become a statesman in the country. He is a national hero, but FIFA rules meant he could only officially play for France. French Guiana waited the previously required 5 years but you know, us big North American giants couldn't handle being beat by "non-FIFA" members. So we killed that rule. It is interesting that Malouda is now suspended. I imagine that he won't be playing the final Gold Cup game which will be interesting for Costa Rica. Costa Rica needs to win or draw that game.

To be fair, that is my biggest issue with Collective Arts, is that too much of their lineup is hop heavy. IPA is the single most overrated (and frankly disgusting) style in beer today. However, their Porter, Dry hop sour, Gose and last year's Hefeweizen were all standouts.

Really the strange thing is that CONCACAF has nations in it that don't qualify for FIFA but CONCACAF is part of FIFA as an eligible, and governing entity. A governing entity not in compliance with their own governing bodies rules. The whole thing is very, very messy.

So if you've played for a French youth team how can you be eligible for French Guiana? Under FIFA rules you would need to file a switch. It's all fallacy. The fact is that if FG were a FIFA country like this gold cup wishes to pretend then malouda would be eligible. And if he wasn't he shouldn't have been allowed in.
The fact concacaf waited this long is criminal. The only reasons I can think of are that they were waiting for a pay out from Honduras (not necessarily the fa but others) OR they announced late so FG couldn't appeal. Either way it reeks of corruption. How do you not know the rules of your own tournament? It's unfathomable.

Exactly! So if they are ruling on fantasy why wouldn't they rule in fantasizing that malouda would be eligible under FIFA rules.. which he would be!! Even as a capped French player he would be able to switch if FG became a member of FIFA.
Technically this means that other players who have played for French youth teams should also be ineligible and cause a forfeit since they didn't officially switch allegiance.

I don't know how FIFA player eligibility rules can prevent Malouda from playing if French Guiana is not a FIFA member. Really, no French Guiana player is eligible under FIFA rules as none of them have a French Guiana passport, etc.
Concacaf now has ruled on a fantasy, theoretical basis: IF French Guiana was a FIFA member and was subject to their rules, then Malouda wouldn't be able to play for them, so he can't play for them now.
    Insane.

Levi Oakey reacted to Oakenshield in Carver has a meltdown
yeah, but James wasn't playing as a defender, was he? He's already shown that he can score with his head and Carver's tactic was to just dump long balls into the 18 yard box for hime to head home (and nearly did in the 89th), because at that point Montreal was definately playing for the draw and sitting behind the ball. The only problem was that the players still seemed content to work through midfield rather than just bombing it forward. I thought it was a great tactical substitution, being as if TFC had scored a late winner, James would have been able to simply slot back in as a CB to defend the lead. As for not using all of his subs; if you look at who was on the bench the only other 'attacking' option was Jarrod Smith, and while i rate him slightly higher that Cunningham (cuz he works for it), we all know he wasn't going to score a goal.

going back to the original post, i think Carver is obviously a passionate guy who speaks his mind and is getting just as frustrated as everybody else and its showing.

"Any time we lose we can pretty much expect Carver or Johnston to parade around like little kids ******** at whatever they deem outside of their control for the day." ag futbol (sorry i'm new and haven't figured out how to quote yet)
I think if you'd look back a few games (possibly the last Cup game?) I remember Carver taking full responsibility for playing the wrong team in the first half.

He's not perfect, but I'd take him over any other MLS coach at the moment.

Malouda is named in the official FG squad on CONCACAF's own site: http://www.goldcup.org/en/gold-cup/teams/2017/4960#tab_team%3Droster
They've brought their own tournament into disrepute by allowing Malouda to even be there and now Honduras receives a free win that they didn't deserve. Its so ridiculous.

The average ticket price for Ottawa Fury games in their last year of NASL was around $25. They averaged about 5K not including the free Fury Fanatic kids tickets. They were losing money so they dropped to USL and shed the NASL level salaries. If Beirne is saying they only need 5-6K in ticket sales to turn a profit AND have a salary cap in the $1.5-2 million range, then there has to be a TV deal in there somewhere because otherwise the franchises aren't going to last very long. They're going to need at least a $10 million a year deal from the CBC to help subsidize those player salaries for about  $800K/yr to 12 teams

Piette has made some mistakes, I am sure he will make more, but he has had a great first 2 games and it is awesome to see him improving!  Is kind of crazy reading those posts that people wanted to essentially roll him out to the pastures.  Criticizing a specific skill set or play is fine, but some of those posts, dayum lol.
He is a young 20 something year old Canadian, that took a chance and moved to Europe as a teenager in an attempt to improve his game, seems to be working,   good on him.
Don't worry about the haters bro, know that the mass majority of Canadians and 95%+ of Voyageurs will always support you and take joy in seeing you improve! Keep up the great work and keep playing with that passion and fire every time you rep the red & white.

His start in yesterday's match was less surprising to me than the fact he was included in the squad at all. I suspect OZ had a very specific job in mind for that position and Kaye had the physical attributes for it. I wouldn't be surprised, even if we play a game or two beyond the group stage, that those are his only minutes of the tournament.

Perhaps slightly off topic, but not sure there is a better place for this.
I was watching Sportscentre immediately after the game. They showed the highlights and talked about Davies and his injury saying they didn't know how serious it was yet. Then like 10 minutes later or something while they were supposed to be talking about something else, they interrupted themselves to let us know that Davies was expected to be available against Honduras.
That has to be the first breaking news for the CMNT that I have ever seen on Sportscentre like that. Progress folks! Progress!
