  1. I have a technical question: The new Canadian MLS rule reads as follows: Canadian players that qualify as a Homegrown Player as a member of an MLS club academy or that have met similar requirements as a member of a Canadian Approved Youth Club will count as a domestic player for all MLS clubs, provided that: The player became a member of an MLS club academy or Canadian Approved Youth Club in the year prior to the year in which he turns 16; If Tabla did select to join the Ivory Coast, does he then cease to be Canadian and hence eligible for domestic status across the Ameri
  2. https://www.hfxwanderers.ca/single-post/2017/03/30/Recap-of-Information-Session There was a town hall with the Halifax organizer and Paul Bierne last night in Halifax March 30th meeting in Halifax with S|E|A CEO Derek Martin and CPL representative Paul Beirne. No official number on the amount of people there, but I’d say a little under 100. These notes were taken chronologically. These are summaries and paraphrases on what was said. Quotations denote direct quotes. Paul Beirne took the floor first. He stated that he was going to discuss the opportu
  3. Not to defame Tabla but who would he displace in the Ivory Coast WCQ team? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ivory_Coast_national_football_team#Current_squad Simply looking at the team's call-ups and recent call-ups would suggests it would be tough for him to warrant a call given his lack of first team experience. Maybe he's being called into a youth camp (if true).
  4. Here's an interesting stat: Participation as a percentage of population, Nova Scotia (2.56%) is only behind Ontario (2.62%) and BC (2.71%). When you consider that 417,800 live in the Halifax Regional Municipality and the population of Nova Scotia is 921,727 people, or roughly half, you can infer that most of the participation is occurring in Halifax. To me that translates into a strong interest for soccer in the market regardless of ethnicity. Speaking as someone who grew up there (I'm in my 30s) and everyone played soccer growing up, I believe it would succeed at 6,000 to 8,000 average
  5. I'm going to take a wild swing at this and say it's Adonijah Reid
  6. I think the citadel shaped logo is pretty sharp actually. On the name there was a AHL team named the Halifax Citadels so that maybe an issue. They were the Nordiques AHL affiliate before the Mooseheads came to town.
  7. These are looking sharp! The only thing I would change about the crest is making the colors look more metallic. The gold/silver should be pop a little and show nobility. Maybe a trim on the edges,
  8. Great work, especially Nicky Cottee. Are we going for round two? hahaha. Stop giving people!
  9. Occean was apparently a really bad role model in the CMNT too. There may be a mutual exclusion at this point.
  10. This is looking amazing! What about turning the citadel shape silver, making it large enough that it covers the rempant lion but sits behind lion and cross.
  11. Sorry, I don't want to suffocate the artistic process. If you really like the star shape there's a couple of options: - Firstly, if you look at the real citadel shape it is not your typical star shape. Two side are much longer than the other. https://www.google.ca/imgres?imgurl=http://farm1.static.flickr.com/75/220450483_dccb43ca1e_o.png&imgrefurl=http://spacing.ca/atlantic/2010/04/08/time-to-give-citadel-hill-a-facelift/&h=580&w=875&tbnid=0-xrbmw0QiuXnM:&docid=hp3TrdTb9jF22M&ei=rBzmVsuNK4rtjgT5qJaoDg&tbm=isch&ved=0ahUKEwjLk6nYi7_LAhWKtoMKHXmUBeUQ
  12. The sash looks pretty cool! But let's put it into over drive https://www.google.ca/imgres?imgurl=http://northamericasports.hostica.com/images/diadora-scotland-away-jersey-2008.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.fairtrademilwaukee.org/j16xg-scotland-soccer-jersey-store&h=450&w=450&tbnid=-gP6pO1g66wHaM:&docid=KEt8PfrK-EVX-M&ei=DPflVtWTEOnmjgT8vLioDA&tbm=isch&ved=0ahUKEwjVyZvn577LAhVps4MKHXweDsUQMwgtKAUwBQ On the badge I think less is more with citadel star. Maybe cut the star in half and use it as the crown similar to this: https://www.google.ca/imgres?imgu
  13. Love the first draft! Scotia United connects to a local club called Scotia. I would make the badge shape more of a shield similar to the foothills concept to connect to the military history. Halifax is known for the Citadel which is one of the last star shaped forts still in existence. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citadel_Hill_%28Fort_George%29 Maybe incorporate a star somewhere maybe at the bottom of the badge or a star shape at the top of the badge (just spit balling). It also maybe nice to have a Birmingham old school football underneath the rampant lion's lead fo
  14. Ask Dino if he has a business plan template. Go from there.
  15. http://www.thevoyageurs.org/donate/ Remember the V's a running their own drive. I just donated another $50! Get me away from the computer now!
  16. Should I try to hit up Owen Hargreaves for money? Dun Dun Dahhh
  17. I'm in for 50. Anyone thought of tweeting some Foothills Alumni http://www.calgaryfoothillssoccer.com/Default.asp?id=success&l=1 + Caniggia Elva I tweeted this to Rossi, Rollins, De Vos and Canucks Abroad
  18. How about these for an idea: The V's sponsor a L10 All-star team to compete with some friendlies in Europe maybe a few guys get picked up. The V's set up a tournament like the Dallas Cup in Canada. Cheers, Adam
  19. I like the idea conceptually but I would have a hard time seeing a proposal like this pass due diligence in L10. Having a complete development structure is challenging and requires a lot of man power. That means having an amateur high performance structure down u-10 with a OPDL component paid by the amateur fees. Some clubs have amalgamated to join L10 to meet the financial and resource requirements. I'm sure there will be more in the future. Dino runs a club called Milltown FC. It started with the same initiative. A bunch of Vs got together and started a club in the CSL (prior
  20. The biggest question is if Infantino will really change things at FIFA. His manifesto, which was detailed by the New York Times in the days leading up to the vote, includes the regionalization of the World Cup. He wants to spread the tournament across different countries. Infantino was a major force behind having the European Championships in 2020 in different nations.
  21. I updated the table with 1st and 2nd ballots but the commentary remains the same
  22. While the USA voted in the second round for Infantino their first ballot selection of Ali will stick out pretty drastically. Candidate First Ballot Second Ballot Gianni Infantino 88 115 Sheikh Salman 85 88 Prince Ali bin al-Hussein 27 4 Jerome Champagne 7 0
  23. Well Infantino won so good on the CSA for backing the winning horse....2026 yall! http://www.sportsnet.ca/soccer/fifa-election-president-sepp-blatter-sheikh-salman-gianni-infantino-prince-ali-jerome-champagne-tokyo-sexwale/ Interesting that the USA voted for Prince Ali
