Exactly. In addition to jersey sales, food and drink sales need to be factored in as well. If tickets are cheap enough, fans will more than compensate for this by treating themselves to a beer or two.

^^^ This.....2 kids=2 popcorn, 2 hotdogs, 2 drinks and 2 t-shirts...made my Valour tickets the cheapest part of the day!!  More than one way to part Dad from his money.  Although having my 4year old telling all his timbit soccer buddies about the game in WPG he went to made it all worthwhile.

I totally agree, the only reason to charge more than say 60-70 in CPL is if you have an MLS club visiting for the Voyageurs Cup and you think you can make some needed income off the visit.
In any case, I think that teams overcharging with lower attendance are also probably seeing less shirt sales, and let's face it: a shirt is worth 3-4 tickets in a supporter section. But I think they have been deceived by overpricing for major sports and really do not understand where we are and what it means to build a base.

I just got home, and I am beyond livid at York 9 FC. We all want the team to succeed, but what a terrible first impression.
I was one of the lucky few who found shelter inside the building and were let back into the stadium before the start of the game. But I too was told by a security guard that the game was cancelled (but I knew better). Also heard from many others told the same thing (felt crappiest for fans who apparently travelled from as far as Montreal and Victoria but ended up leaving).
And as Gopher mentions, completely appalling that families and well anyone was sent away from the overhangs. Security could have at least directed people to nearby campus buildings if they felt overhangs were unsafe.
There was pretty much no communication throughout the weather.
And after all this mess, security had the gall to recheck my ticket, when I walked back to the supporters section.

    ----
And I forgot to mention, security decided it was a good idea to funnel both Hamilton and York 9 supporters through the same exit. Unsurprisingly, fights broke out. Shame on the fans that fought but the management could've avoided it.

I was in that overhang as well. I got the sense that they just wanted to pawn off responsibility so they wouldn't get in trouble. Terrible way to treat any fans. I'm kind of curious if anyone got back into the stadium once the game resumed - i.e. just hang around long enough, despite the hot garbage we were being fed by security.

Sorry to hear that - you commuted a good distance to watch your team. I was at the game, and my buddy and I stayed as long as possible before we were told that we had to leave and that the game was abandoned. I just heard that the game was resumed after all, and it was completed in full. I'm pissed.

I'm pissed that security wanted me to leave the covered overhang I was sheltering under and walk to my car - ten minutes away.
A covered overhang is far from ideal, but it's got to be a lot better than walking for ten minutes through a parking lot during the middle of a thunderstorm.
Might as well stick a giant sign on my head that says "We don't care if you get killed, just don't do it on our property"

It's north of Steeles, on the north side of Pioneer Village Station. I'm not sure if the street it's on has a name, but it continues south of Steeles as Northwest Gate.

I get the whole idea of "supporting" (I sat through lots of crappy TFC games from Years 1-8 as a STH) - but clearly if people did not complain about the pricing model when it came out, or the lack of reserved seating in the East Stands originally (all GA?! - even for STH in a family section?!) - then they would not have relented and changed things (made things a bit cheaper, and made the East side reserved and not GA) -- they didn't have an epiphany, they saw the public reaction and they responded (kudos to them),  but the idea that if I want to take my family of four (their likely market is families in the suburbs) to a game that my only options are to spend $1000-$1200 on 4 season tickets (not GA Standing), or $200 for one game - is an outrageous notion and is excluding many people who might want "to try" the product......I bought OneSoccer, I bought the hoodie, but am I going to spend $200 on single game for a minor league product?! - NO -  (in comparison I saw the Marlies win Game 7 of the Calder Cup Finals for less than that in amazing seats, same with OHL Finals in Guelph/Oshawa/Mississauga in the past - never mind regular season games where entry can be had for $15-$25 in decent seats for single games from the primary seller along with discounts for family deals and kids ticket pricing, etc.) -- and I would bet many others won't "try it" either - frankly I think they will lose a lot of the soccer club ST signups after year one, once people go and see what its all about, and it doesn't exactly live up to the "vision" they were sold from a picture on a brochure.....heaven forbid it rains or is cold, it will be a ghost town.....

The finer-resolution pic definitely helps - a lot of the kits feature very subtle details that weren't very noticeable in the stream. The camo pattern in the green Cavalry jersey looks sick. Overall I like Pacific's kit the most, though - it certainly is very striking!

It's Pacific, I have it on a good source.
They've decided they already are training fine on a paradisiacal island with postcard sunsets.
As for the opportunity to play against weak semi-pro club teams in the preseason, well they are already lined up against Whitecaps u-23.
And most importantly: if they want to hang out on a boat, they can go over to Issey's place.
I suppose a certain, comforting % of those here will appreciate this post.
