What stands out for me is the excitement watching her pretty much every time I saw her play.  She had that great French Canadian combative spirit and was a real joy to watch her combination of passion and drive.  She had a wonderful career with a lot of great moments when we needed someone to step up and she represented the country so well both as a player and a person.  First class act and true Canadian and Québécois.

Man! This is going to be painful listening to "footy" fans in Canada wearing Man U and Arsenal jerseys talking $h!t about Canadian soccer.

Reports from the local Express and Star note that, after the disappointing lost to Coventry this past weekend, the manager was going to start a bunch of youngsters as an audition for next year. Wouldn't be surprised if Jackson doesn't play in Walsall's last game either.

Hope this doesn't get lost in the Canadian Premier League talk, but here's a pretty little goal from Schmidt.

I'm optimistic that we can get out of the group stage as one of the best 3rd place teams. I like that we are playing FG first and hopefully can build off the confidence of getting 3 points. A draw against either or both CR and Honduras is not out of the question - especially if they bring less experienced squads.

The UK mut with French combination makes me think of the Royal Standard of the UK or the escutcheon of the Coat of Arms of Canada (maybe replace the maple leaves with the ship from the NB flag). I think the ship from NB flag/UNB logo (the old one) is a better symbol than the anchor. Other suggestions include lighthouse for Patridge Island, the Carleton Materllo Tower, or Fort Howe. Perhpas just avoid using a soccer ball with a flame or wave behind it...
From what I understand, most Loyalist regiments did wear red coats, but some also wore blue and green. I think the city went with blue because to fit with the ocean motif. If you want to go Loyalist route, this is the logo for the City of Saint John:

As a born and raised Saint Johner, this does not really reflect the Port City. There are key historical moments that are vital to the Saint John identity:
Samuel de Champlain in 1604 Loyalist founding 1783-1785 Shipbuilding throughout 19th century Irish famine migration in 1840s Great Fire of 1877 The city definitely has a love/hate relationship with the Loyalist Man persona [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loyalist_Man], but it is unique. Other options include physical geography such as Bay of Fundy, Reversing Falls. Or, hell, just slap the Iriving Oil logo on there.

The Support Local Football campaign has two purposes.   The first is to grow The Voyageurs and the support of all our national teams.  The second is to support the launch of the CanPL.
    Why
Our players need a place to play.   The CanPL will not replace the MLS teams.  The CanPL will expand the range of opportunity for Canadian players. I want to make it clear we will not be taking an anti MLS position in supporting the CanPL.   This is an opportunity to grow the game.
    Goals
The Voyageurs will work to connect with the soccer community from top to bottom to do the following.
Promote the long term support of the Canadian league so that players aged 8 today will have a place to play when they are 18.  We are looking for a core of people in each city to put in a ten year commitment to make this league work.  Work with the league and teams to set up standards for supporters based on what we have learned works and does not work from current supporters groups Raise funds for supporters groups over the next year to help with local SG start up funds  (ie buy scarfs ect) Raise community awareness of the league Foster an improved Canadian soccer culture that supports the game in Canada Plan
Develop effective messaging to support the goals so we are consistent from coast to coast in how we approach people Hold a supporters summit prior to the launch of the league Increase the presence of The Voyageurs at events across the country  Create Original Supporter merchandise to raise funds for local CanPL supporters groups  Build relationships with associations, clubs and community groups across Canada

Any good coach can scout a league and evaluate the talent there. Almost none of the teams in CONCACAF other than the US play in an MLS style so understanding the MLS style of play is far less important than understanding the central American style of play and how to counter those tactics. We are getting eliminated not because we can't beat superior teams to us like the US or Mexico but because we can't beat the teams closer to us in playing level in our region like Honduras and Panama. Language ability is important but that does not mean favouring a MLS coach just merely choosing someone who is either a English native speaker or speaks another language but has adequate communication skills in English, ie. better than Floro. If we are prioritizing MLS coaches we are severely limiting the selection pool and limiting it to a pretty mediocre group of coaches. I am also not saying we should ignore MLS coaches either, every coach should be evaluated on his own merit, but we should not limit ourselves to MLS coaches or give an MLS candidate any preference because of his coaching in this league.
