  1. Ya, a friend of mine knows a guy kinda story. He knows I'm a long time Voyageur so shared a picture of the document with me. Neat to see. Not trying to get anyone in trouble, but it's exciting news in a time that seems like there's been no news for the CMNT. Interestingly the player I know of that was called up, has never been called up before and he is European based(Germany) and is a defender. That's all I can divulge, but kind of surprised there will be some european based players there and it looks like they've gone pretty deep into the player pool. I may not post here everytime Phonzie breaks wind but I do know my Arfields to my Zators of Canadian football and this guy was not really on my radar even though he is on the Canadian's abroad list.
  2. As of December 15th players who were selected were notified of a training camp at IMG Academy from January 9th to 24th. Training matches are planned vs USMNT.
  3. Agreed... Did anyone see we get a home game for # 1 VS HONDURAS!!!! AGAIN!!! FATE!
  4. Like who? Other than Ferreira and maybe Ferdi and Marmoush, I think we've done a pretty good job of scooping up the players that have options and this is one of the reasons we're talking about a Golden Generation. Ferreira is the only one that makes the starting 11(if not injured!) and that's only because our backline is shambolic(CB Cornelius + whoever is not equal to what we are putting out at other positions). Ferdi has so much potential he would be great to cap(if actually interested), but I would be doubtful of him coming over to play the junk teams we will have in our pool. He is likely able to make the dutch team and tbh his Canadian ties are tenuous anyways. Marmoush is interesting as well, but he doesn't play much and hasn't scored in Bundesliga. Maybe he would be a good call up vs a minnow because for the reserves he scored fairly often. I just don't see him as a huge part moving forward what with all the other attacking players we already have coming up.
  5. I will go on record and say this is the best players on the pitch philosophy, and it's hard to get mad at Davies at LB(he can always push up later). Some of you ppl posting lineups without David are off your rockers! Hoilett of the bench is a nice option
  6. Pretty sure I saw Phonzie in the 2nd half highlights vs Real Madrid last night.
  7. wow even herdmann is losing it... a defender for an attacker when were losing???!!!
  8. Just saw Herdman motion to Piette he was going in... so look for that around minute 65 if scoreline holds... i would presume for Hutch
  9. great ball movement... cav cant let david score without doing so himself
  10. 3-1, they score first beating us with pace as Godinho is weak link. We break them down with Arfield on the opener, followed by a header by Cavallini and Hoillett ices it on a counter late in the game.
  11. now I predict either Millar on an individual effort or I could actually see Cuba scoring as game has opened up.
  12. I love this change bc Millar will be chomping at the bit... either him or David have ANOTHER before the match is done
  13. I believe thats 3 for Cavalini(that earlier goal was not an own goal)... i think i just overheard him say "I have no f*ckin energy" Also, not to get off topic, but notice the lack of jackass celebration already... us womens wouldve planned a dance!
  14. just shell out a couple of bucks and do the concacaf go stream... its perfect even with my awful internet here in rural France
  15. For those of us in France... does anyone know if the Concacaf GO app will work here? Also... Borjan will likely not start, not because he is resting, but likely because we don't need him(A la Busti during a very important qualifier). The difference between Borjan and Crepeau or Leutwiler will not be noticeable in this game. I am NOT saying that this will be a huge cake walk, but even if the keepers let in a goal (or even 2), you have to believe this Canada squad(not like any I've seen 20 years prior) can easily score 3. I do expect some changes(ex Hutch out/Liam in) but this will be a strong attacking squad.
  16. RE: GK situation Goalkeeping is ALOT different than other positions on the field. Definitely Leutwiler is more experienced and arguably has played vs tougher competition, but Crepeau is in form and playing recently. Make no mistakes, Max is the #2 right now and going forward. As far as going forward, BORJAN starts vs Mexico and we are playing for 3 points. Maybe you all missed the champions league this year but if anyone on this team is capable of stealing a game it's our keeper(see Liverpool game if not sure). Nevermind excuses of shaky defense(which we definitely have and it is a problem), I can easily see Milan frustrating the Mexicans and Cav banging one in.
  17. We should really walk together to the game... it would be a small march but still...
  18. I spoke to the Fitzpatricks manager today, they're expecting us ALL day on Monday. They are open from Noon til 1am(which means we can grab a couple after the match as well). I won't be there until 3pm so if anyone is there earlier in the week please stop in and take a minute to make a sign welcoming visiting Canadians to join us on their chalkboard. Fitzpatricks was the Icelandic supporter HQ in the last WC and this is what they did. See you all Monday and spread the word around!
  19. I am currently living in France(about 2 hours from both Montpellier and Grenoble). I like the suggestion of an "immitation" Irish Pub(which are actually more authentic than ones in Canada I find). In Montpellier there is Fitzpatricks which is in the old town. It's not super big but it's very sports centric and is in a big court where the festivities can spill out into(which unlike Canada is not frowned upon!). I can call them to set something up. They were the host for the Iceland supporters in the last men's world cup. Drinks here aren't cheap(they aren't cheap at any bar in France) and the likely don't have many food options(besides saucissons and chips), but they're are plenty of kebaberies and tacos places where you can grab things and bring em to the pub. For transportation to Stade Mosson we walk 500m/5min to Tram #1 and it's a 30 minute or so trip then walk the remaining few minutes to the stadium. As for the beach, it is fairly doable. Take the Tram #3 to the last stop and walk 30 minutes(like 3kms) and you'll be at a great beach(atleast it is for kids, with lots of sand and a nice slow entry). Anyone wanting France info or tips you can pm me.
