  1. I watched the interview which I believe dates from last season. The interview itself contains nothing of particular importance, he is being asked about the good results in the last few games and to discuss the upcoming game against Atromitos. What I can say is that from the way he speaks Greek, he most certainly must have grown up in Greece, which is probably why he's never really been on the CMNT's radar despite potentially being eligible.
  2. Xanthi dropped their first league match away to PAOK in Thessaloniki by a score of 3-0 with Julian playing the full 90. I didn't get to see the game, but here are the goals:
  3. The Impact have signed 26 year old Spanish center-back Adrian Lopez Rodriguez! He was developed by Deportivo La Coruna and also spent some time in England with Wigan. Welcome to Montreal! http://www.impactmontreal.com/en/news/2013/07/spanish-defender-adrian-lopez-rodriguez-joins-impact http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adri%C3%A1n_L%C3%B3pez_Rodr%C3%ADguez
  4. Xanthi defeated Linfield 1-2 in Belfast today in OT after going down to 10 men following a straight red in the first half. They progress to the 3rd qualifying round of the Europa League where they will take on Standard Liège of Belgium. Hopefully Julian can feature in those matches. Note: Asteras Tripolis enters the Europa League at this stage against Rapid Wien
  5. Video of the 4th goal: http://www.rds.ca/vid%C3%A9os/quel-effort-de-di-vaio-et-romero-1.616190 And now 5-0! Goal by Di Vaio!
  6. 3-0 Montreal at halftime.... yes, you read that right. http://www.mlssoccer.com/matchcenter/2013-05-01-MTL-v-TOR/commentary
  7. Please tell me you didn't just mention Charisteas in a discussion about DP's??? He is washed up, he has been for several years actually and the fact that he returned to Greece to play for Panetolikos (a newly promoted side) says a lot. If you want to talk about a Greek DP at striker there are much better options. You could go dig Theofanis Gekas out of Turkey (Samsunspor, he transferred there in January from Eintracht Frankfurt and already has 2 goals in 2 appearances). Whatever criticisms have been leveled against him, the guy has proven that he has a nose for goal in the 18 yard box (B
  8. Although I agree that in theory travel can be done in an "intelligent" way, you can't really make the comparison to baseball, or even hockey. The reason being that with soccer, on average, you have 1 game per week. So if say NYRB wanted to organize a "West coast swing" (LA, Chivas, SJ, Seattle, Portland), what would they do... go on the road for a month and not return home in that whole time? It makes a lot more sense in baseball where teams play pretty much every day. The Expos would head out west and could play 3 series (LA, SF, SD) in just over a week and be back. Similarly, in hockey they

  12. " Les joueurs anglophones recrutés par ce programme pourront fréquenter l'école secondaire Lester-B.-Pearson." http://www.rds.ca/impact/chroniques/310077.html So it seems anglophone players will also be recruited.
