I'm for getting the max strength in the U-20 squad over the Nations League, the vets should be able to get the job done and the U-20 tournament is a shitload of games in a short period of time so having a deep squad will be hugely beneficial since even though some of the teams are minnows you can't play players every other day.  Building a good team and qualifying for the world cup will get these guys playing and building together and getting to play top end competition, that development can really translate down the road and building cohesion through going through adversity together is really valuable.

I am rehashing what I posted in the U20 thread, but I would prefer to see Davies, Tabla, Millar, David and Busti all go to the U20s.  We have talked about our newfound depth in midfield - this seems like the perfect opportunity to use it while still meeting the needs of both teams.   And as others have pointed out, we seem to have very capable replacement options for the kids if they go to the youth tourney.
Wish I could travel to this one, but the only way a Caribbean trip would ever be in the cards is if it happened in the winter and I could convince my wife to take a vacation )that just happened to be in the same country).

I really don't think there is room for Cavallini and Larin starting together against non minnows, Tabla from what I understand is more of a wide player.

Hopefully one in which the old players are being removed and there will be lots of playing time open.

Definitely would have been too small to play.

Ya every predictions website has them being relegated but I just want Junior to have a good year and hope for the best in terms of team success. On a lighter note, Cardiff is ahead of arsenal atm... ?

As a long time Canadian soccer fan its nice to finally get the big prospects committing.  Tomori and Ferreira would be huge with our lack of depth at CB, this young core could be really, really good and have a chance at overthrowing the usual order in CONCACAF

My bad the site I use doesn't show the Spanish third tier so I was looking at his games in La Liga 2 from the end of last year.  Good to know that he's starting and doing well, I saw him on the summer tour and thought he looked pretty good.

Tabla still isn't getting a ton of minutes at Barca B, hopefully he gets more starts as the season progresses, Davies and Tabla on each flank for us is going to create so much space for our central midfielders and strikers for years to come.  Also we are going to have the players to be lethal on the counter attack, that could be super valueable in tough away games in CONCACAF.  We've never had these type of players or this many quality attackers, fingers crossed but Tabla and Davies are still just teenagers and have ridiculous potential ahead of them.

I think the circumstances here are quite different.
    Owen Whoregraves
    Born: Canada
    Grew up: Canada
    Youth development: Canada (Calgary Foothills)
    Pro development: Germany
    Represents: England
Whoregreaves was the only player to appear for England at the senior level, despite having never lived in England, and the first to appear for England without having played in Britain. Hargreaves has attempted a baffling British accent, so badly, that people in England still think he's German.
    Ballou Tabla
    Born: Ivory Coast
    Grew Up: Canada
    Youth development: Canada (Montreal Impact)
    Pro development: Canada/Spain
    Represents: Canada
Tabla played for Canada at U15, U17, and U20 levels. Tabla has never attempted a baffling British accent.
Conclusion: Ballou Tabla - not Owen Whoregreaves

His thinking is so far beyond the rest of the whitecaps. Thought he was immense again tonight. The potential for him with the quality around him at Bayern is incredibly exciting.
Fingers crossed he gets the luck to stay fit and keep his momentum going.

My brother had a bunch of old cards from the 50s and 60s.  He sold some of them and bought a boat.
Yes, there was a glut of cards in the 90s and beyond that killed the collector value of most individual cards, but that didn't impact the value of older cards that are still genuinely rare and sought after.  The idea that Gretzky rookies are worthless is BS.  And ironically, signed cards are sometimes worth less because of authenticy doubts.
As for Davies rookie, it won't be worth a ton, but it would be cool as hell to own (a few months ago I was looking at them on eBay).  That card is from a less sought after league, and a player that probably doesn't have as much appeal to some as he does to us.  Plus his card comes from an era where collectors accumulate cards strategically, which means they will never be as rare as the days when kids stuck them in bike spokes.

I don't know how deeply you all follow Liverpool. I watch every one of their senior matches, live or on TV, plus highlights of most youth team matches. I also listen to a lot of interviews with the coaching staff and well-connected journalists around the club.
I'm very calm about Liam Millar staying right where he is for this season, and probably next. Klopp doesn't like to loan young players that he rates highly. He resisted loaning Woodburn for 2 seasons, preferring to have him train with the first team. That Millar hasn't been loaned is a sign of how highly he's rated at Liverpool, not the other way around.
    Regarding the players mentioned above:
-Origi would have left last month if the club had their way. The player turned down a move to Wolves, foolishly, in my view, thinking he'd get a move to Dortmund or Valencia. Those clubs, as well as a couple of others in Turkey, wanted him, but not at the price Liverpool were asking. He won't be a Liverpool player in 12 months.
-Solanke is a year into the process for Klopp. He'll go on loan in January or next summer, unless he suddenly shows he can be an effective Firmino stand-in in the next few months.
-Woodburn plays an entirely different position, so there's no point discussing him in this context.
-Taiwo Awoniyi can't get a UK work permit, so has been continually loaned. He doesn't realistically have a long-term future with Liverpool.
-Harry Wilson (not mentioned) needs to show that he's a standout Championship player this season in order to earn a real chance for next season.
-Rhian Brewster is out injured for another few months. Klopp rates him massively and he'll go straight into the first-team reckoning once he's fit again. The thing to remember, though, is that Klopp never rushes a player back after a long-term injury. Joe Gomez was brought back over nearly a full year before Klopp reckoned he was ready for proper first-team action. For that reason, I'm not confident we'll see Brewster much until this time next year.
It's also worth noting that Liam is younger than all of those players bar Woodburn and Brewster. He's doing just fine where he is.

Muhammed Ali is referenced as the greatest because he didn't shy away from what was difficult, people forget he was massively controversial and divisive but he stood up for what he believed in and is called the greatest ever not simply because his athletic accomplishments.  Sports are one part of life, Kaepernick is going to be remembered much more fondly and have a bigger impact because of his stance, the people who would hold the commercial against Alphonso are not the people you'd want in your corner anyways imo.

I'd rather he continue to train everyday under the watchful eye of one of the best managers in the world, play U23 football for Liverpool, and sneak an occasional bench spot for the first team in the League Cup. He has a first-class ticket to watch one of the most complete #9s in world football everyday...seeing how Firmino trains and plays on a day-to-day basis could be invaluable in young Liam's development. After a season, or two, of that, he can go play a season at Rangers, under a Liverpool legend and one of the best, most-complete midfielders of the last 20 years, before returning to serve as Firmino's full-time understudy and heir apparent.
