  1. I would love to go, but I have a family outing in the afternoon outside of town. If I get back in time, I might be able to make it.
  2. Yea, I am disapointed that they are showing the TFC game before the Canada game. I think it should be the other way, considering that the Gold Cup is the regional championship for North, Central America and the Caribbean.
  3. Yes I believe you are correct Sigma. That was a 2002 WCQ game in Mexico City in August 2000.
  4. Cool. I am going to be able to watch this game Friday. Go Canada.
  5. By the way, soccertv.com has just changed the Canada games from being shown on CBC to Sportsnet correctly.
  6. Yes I agree with you Cheeta. Much better then Gol TV news and Canada's GOL TV's Extra time. Bobby McMahohn, Jeremy St. Louis, Mitch Peacock and Carlos Machado are definately better then the crew of Gol TV news and Extra time (Lee Godfrey and Paul James).
  7. Guys, their was an article from World Soccer writer Brian Homewood a few months ago saying that the oppressive heat and humidity of Rio de Janeiro in February, (where it can push to almost 40+C) is almost as bad if not worse the the altitude of La Paz, Quito, etc. But this altitude debate is going to effect teams like Ecuador and Boliva when the South American World Cup 2010 qualifying starts for them this September. It will be interesting to see how they will respond when the show hits the road.
  8. It depends. I think they have a better shot this time then they did in 2005. It depends on how they play their first game. Canada must get at least a draw in game for for any chance. If they do, their chances of making it past the first round increase by I say 20%-40%
  9. Yes, it is true, I believe. I saw the commercial advertising the 2007 CONCACAF Gold Cup on Gol TV Canada, the whole tournament. I am imagining that the Canadian games will still be shown by Rogers Sportsnet and Gol TV will not show those ones. I am not sure. I do know, I believe this is a first that the whole CONCACAF Gold Cup tournament will be availiable to all Canadians on television. Before you would have needed a U.S. Satiliete and watch the tournament in Spanish on Univision. I will email Gol TV Canada to confirm this all.
  10. I agree. I dont get why MLS does not shut down for 3 weeks. I mean, MLS could use the regional championship for North, Central America and Caribbean championship as a marketing tool, ditto with CONCACAF. Their is a lot of potential in making something big out of the CONCACAF Gold Cup into something big down the road, with the right marketing.
  11. Folks, it looks like that Canada will not be left out in the cold with regards to coverage of the CONCACAF Gold Cup. I saw a commerical on Gol TV Canada today saying they will be showing the whole tournament from June6-June 24th. Any comments?
  12. yes, that is truly sad state of affairs.
  13. Interesting article I found with regards to the discrepency between the highest and lowest paid players in MLS. http://www.terra.com/deportes/articulo/html/fox393713.htm any comments
  14. Nice. I still will watch the Spanish version of the games on Telelatino though for some of them.
  15. Long live Mercenary coaches. I wish for the days of Holger Osiak again. I am afraid, it is going to be another long drought of 7-8 years again, not going to qualify for the 2010 World Cup. I am already planning for 2014.
  16. This is going to even make this more corny, but I checked out www.soccertv.com and under North, Central, Caribbean and South American competitions, that all three games for Canada at the 2007 CONCACAF Gold Cup are going to be shown by.... CBC???? Check it out for yourself. Now I have emailed CBC to see if this is true or a hoax by the www.soccertv.com website. Here is the link http://www.soccertv.com/amer.cfm
  17. Shaw Cable is having no free preview. That is the unfortunate news. As for the Brazilian league, they advertise it on their site. I would email Gol TV Canada if they will show the national league championship which starts May 12th.
  18. I agree. Simoes MUST be the coach for the canadian mens team. This guy has at least some track record. And what is even better is he knows CONCACAF teams, namely the Central American & Caribbean teams inside out. If Simoes is not the coach, then I do not know what.
  19. It has been a pleasent mixture of Colombian, Spanish and Italian games. I look forward to the Brazilian league. That is one of the main reasons why I got the channel besides the La Liga.
  20. Cheeta I have to agree with you. Good things happen to those who wait. I ordered Gol TV at 9 this morning. When I heard the representative tell me it was only going to cost me 50 cents extra because I had already ordered RDS from before (the French TSN), I was in pleasent shock. My eyes were lit up. This made my day.
  21. Does any one know, or has any one heard about the status of the 2007 CONCACAF Gold Cup (Canada's games in particular) with regards to television? I believe the CSA's contract ran out with Sportsnet at the end of 2006. So will Canadian soccer fans be SOL with regards to the Gold Cup this year??
  22. I am glad you like the find. I was bored and went to the CBC site and found it out. I like Craig Forrest. He always tries to provide good Analysis. Nigel Reed will be an excellent commentator for the CBC. I look forward to Mitch Peacock doing sideline (?) analysis with CBC. I wonder if now that Peacock is going to be working for CBC during MLS telecasts, is he done with FSWC? Too bad CBC couldnt get Dick Howard. Only problem is with Steve Armitage? Seriously. Could they have not gotten a better person to call FIFA U-20 games.
  23. Craig Forrest joins CBC's soccer team. http://www.cbc.ca/sports/soccer/story/2007/04/17/cbc-soccer-broadcastteam.html
  24. I know I was only kidding about the Winnipeg Alliance. But you get my point about Toronto FC. The bottom line is this: They have to re-look their tactics for their upcoming games, or they will get creamed.
