  1. Interesting article about what John Terry says about Claude Makalele http://sports.yahoo.com/sow/news;_ylt=All8oFAxRzdHwnK97WrMGmwmw7YF?slug=afp-fbleur2008engmkdhargreaves&prov=afp&type=lgns
  2. Just a topic that I wanted to bring up is that Fox Sports World Canada came on the air in September of 2001. So it will be it's 5th anniversary this fall. So I guess it is time to reflect on Canada's fist channel that dedicated a large section to soccer (Futbol). What is everyone's take on the first five years of FSWC? Where do you think FSWC will be in five years from now?
  3. I just read this on Wikipedia for kicks. I was looking about the 2014 World Cup, which Brazil will probably get. Then I decided to look up the 2018 World Cup, to see what potential countries might be interested in hosting the tournament. Low and behold Canada's name was mentioned. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2018_FIFA_World_Cup Now, while I support possibly if this ever came to fruition. I just dont know how realistic it will be considering that: A) The 2014 World Cup will be hosted in South America likely. Because of that since that a world cup previous to the 2018
  4. DDR is class. Canada's best player in a dog's age. I honestly thought that Chelsea was going to mop the floor with the MLS All Stars. I was dead, dead wrong. Congrats to DDR and the MLS all stars in winning the game. Brings back some fond memories of DDR when he played for Canada at the 1999 Pan American Games in Winnipeg.
  5. I believe that Canada was one of the invited teams to represent CONCACAF at the 2007 Pan American Games
  6. Does any one know when the Canadian Soccer Association and Rogers Sportsnet's Television Contract will be up for renewal or over with? And if it is done soon, should the CSA renew again with Sportsnet, or seek another broadcaster (i.e. TSN, CBC, Global/FSWC)
  7. I am glad that Canada is sending a futebol team to the Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro in July 0f 2007. This will be the first time that the mens team has competed at the Pan American Games since the 1999 Pan American Games in Winnipeg. I think they will surprise a lot of people their next year. The heat will be less of an issue for the games because it will be Winter in Brazil at the time the games happen. Does anyone know who will be covering the games on Television? I hope CBC does.
  8. I am acutally going to take a different route on this one. I think that TSN is going to pick up the TFC just because TSN is owned by the people who own the Leafs who own TFC. Just a thought.
  9. It is official, Fox Soccer Channel in the U.S. Signed a new deal with Major League Soccer from now untill the end of 2010. Go here: http://msn.foxsports.com/other/story/5831840
  10. I am quite frankly interested in where the Lynx go myself. I read in the recent edition of World Soccer, now that Toronto is getting an MLS team, rumour has it that the Lynx could end up in Hamilton. Myself, I dont know if it will happen or not, but I personally think Winnipeg would be a great place for the Lynx to relocate. Or perhaps maybe someone will buy the Lynx and bring them here. Winnipeg is going to be getting an indoor/outdoor soccer complex by late 2007. With the outdoor field going to be at the University of Manitoba Stadium, I think it would be a good fit for the USL
  11. I think perhaps a lobbying effort from winnipeg soccer fans to the CSA with regards for the potential of getting at least 1-2 2010 WCQ in 2008 is in order
  12. I am extatic about this new indoor/outdoor soccer faccility. Congrats to the Winnipeg Soccer Federation for pulling this off. I think this definatly boosts Winnipeg's (our) chances of getting future World Cup Qualifying games for the 2010 WCQ. As well as a possible return for professional futbol to come back to Winnipeg via the USL division 1 or 2. Let's hope the USL commissioner is looking at this. Now all we need is some potential owners from the Peg to pull this off.
  13. I agree. I think Hartell should seriously, when all is said and done at the end of the day, either sell or relocate the team. Personally I would love to see the teamr relocate to Winnipeg, but I dont think that is going to happen. Personally I think Winnipeg would support a USL division 1 team. Winnipeg was always near the top of attendance with regards to the CSL. So I think Winnipegers would be out in support. I know I would buy season tickets.
  14. Here is an interesting topic I figure I would bring up. Now that it looks like Toronto will be getting an MLS team in 2007, then now what happens with the Toronto Lynxx? Are they going to fold or going to be sold to someone? Will they relocate to another city? What would be a good city for the Lynxx to go to??
  15. Whow. This is great. I am very glad that someone from Fox Sports World Canada is listening to this. I have commented before on this site that I agree that the content of the channel has declined. I am wondering how well FSWC is doing in terms of the digital channels. Didnt rank very high awhile ago? And has it tagged off since. It seems like Global has declined their investment in FSWC. Now here is my suggestions on making FSWC great ( or better at least) 1. Give The "Living Legend" of Canadian futbol analysts, Bobby Macmahon his own weekly half hour or hour show, analy
  16. A Happy ending with regards to the Cruz Azul coach that was kidnapped in July http://www.canada.com/sports/soccer/story.html?id=294c21c8-77b5-4518-99c2-ab64ea1dd4d5
  17. Interesting question to pose to all of you on this board. It seems like everytime in the listings for Fox Sports World Canada whenever there is suppose to be a soccer game on or a soccer highlight show, the FSWC network shows that pretty lame show called Out of Bounds with John Oakley. Ok I will admit it was cool to watch for a while, however I will admit know I am just about sick of this show. It is lame, not funny and has run it's course. I dont know about you, but this is the only reason I would ever think about cancelling my subscription to this channel is because of this show.
  18. I also within the past month just bought this book and I am currently reading it. I so far am really enjoying it. It really is an amazing book. It is very facinating how "The Beautiful Game" impacts the world and how this books shows so many examples.
  19. [posted before final scores were posted in the previous post] If Panama Wins this game, it is going to tighten the Nozzle on Costa Rica for the final third place spot
  20. For any one writing letter to rogers, May I suggest something like this I wrote to Shaw Cable in Winnipeg with regards to Shaw's possibility of them showing Gol TV Canada. I reccomend anyone writing a letter to Rogers start the letter sucking up to them and then get to the main point in the middle of the letter. Here is what I wrote to Shaw. Dear Shaw Cable Customer Service: I would like to commend your excellent commitment to providing customers with the best options in digital televised entertainment at affordable pricing. Shaw should be commended for this. I am al
  21. It will be interesting to see the partnership of TSN and Sportsnet. The 2006 WC will be a dry run of partnering. Remember TSN and Sportsnet will be showing the 2010 and 2012 Olympics. It will be good to see Craig and Vic again doing broadcasts, although just for the 2006 WC. I think Craig and Vic make a slightly better tandum then Craig and Gerry. Though mind you give Gerry for some credit. At least he in the past few years has improved as a soccer broadcaster then he did before.

  23. Yea, I think Rogers will chicken out of not showing Gol TV Canada faster then you can say goal, once the heat is applied to them. For those who are in areas where Rogers is the cable provider, I would write to them a letter voicing your concerns. To me that is the best way of going at it.

  25. Count me as another one who gives a rat's A*** about professional futbol in Canada.
