I am glad to see the end of the monopoly had by OneSoccer.  Maybe also El Salvador TV can show the game.

I just listened to an interview where Sinclair said that the team planned in advance for Fleming to take a PK if needed against USA, because USA were probably expecting Sinclair to take it and would try to figure out what moves she would make.  She said that she had missed and Beckie had missed, and because Fleming had not missed, Fleming got the job.  I guess it wasn't a last minute decision to dump that responsibility on Fleming to take the PK like I originally thought.  It just looked like it because Sinclair had grabbed the ball initially and it looked like she was going to take it.
Also, I just watched yesterday's NWSL game and Sinclair had to take a PK against Sheridan.  Sheridan knew exactly which way Sinclair would go but it went in anyway.  I am just relieved that Sinclair is taking PK's again.  This shows that she can absolutely take PK's against a teammate.

Priestman wasn't just an assistant coach under Herdman.  She was in charge of the Excel program (or whatever it was called), where young players were brought into the pipeline for the CWNT.  So, she would have done a lot of administrative work hand-in-hand with the CSA.  Like with Herdman, the CSA were probably comfortable with Priestman and knew they could work together harmoniously.  I'm guessing that the CSA didn't hire them because they were too lazy to recruit, they hired them because they knew they had what they were looking for.
Coaches do way more than run games.  That's just the small part of their jobs that we see on TV, the part that we can all imagine performing in their place.  Hiring, firing, balancing budgets, recruitment, offsite training regimens, dealing with higher ups and lower downs in the organization,...  You have to consider all those things when making a choice.  When it comes to that stuff, I wouldn't be surprised if the CSA thinks that a bird in hand is better than two in the bush.

I just saw that TSN is reporting that Le Parisien is reporting that Labbe is about to be signed by PSG.  Nice!  Apparently PSG lost a bunch of keepers so have had to scramble for a replacement.  Wouldn't it be great if she backstops her new team to a repeat title?

Another bad choice by the CSA appointing Bev Priestman as the head coach.  And for that it took them all this time?  don't you just love these jokers!

    re: goalkeepers
The irony here is the Ref was right, Stephanie Labbe wasn't a strong goalkeeper by our standards back then. We've had great goalkeepers all the way back to the beginning of the program, right from Carla Chin in the 80s. NiccI Wright, Taryn Swiatek, God we've had so many. Then all the brand names of the best decade.
Labbe rocked Tokyo, just killed it, especially her mental game. Probably rued by soccer fans across Europe and the US right now, but they have endless respect for her. We've had a lot of great goalkeepers in the world set a standard, first the Germans with their technical skills, then the Americans with their physicality. Well Stephanie Labbe just set a new standard for mental performance. Couldn't be happier for her.
This is her day, their day.

The grosso sub I didn't mind because it was a huge upgrade from Quinn who made more passes to American players than Canadians all game.
But someone needs to tell huitema that when you get subbed on with 5 minutes left protecting a one goal lead you put your foot on the gas and you don't take it off, she was jogging around out there. Leon, on the other hand, hit the field like she'd been shot out of a cannon.

I've always thought that the region should be pushing and promoting the Caribbean Cup and Copa Centroamericana more.  If those two were pushed on the "alternative" years, that would leave Canada/Mexico/US, and maybe that's where you do an "invite" tournament.  The overall result would be that you get smaller countries still playing each other in meaningful games with a trophy on the line, with the US/Mexico/Canada playing a higher caliber of competition (which the US and Mexico desperately need).

Given the football appears to be scheduled from 330-930am EDT, it will be the place to watch the replays.
CBC TV will likely carry the Canada matches but will go away to other events if Canada is set to win a medal. TSN/SN will have a lot of the rest of the football especially on the men's side.
