Different players, different roles, different positions.
Cavs is a great finisher. Oso is a link/set-up man who can also pot a few.
    They should be playing together!

He came a long way from North York Rockets and St. Catharines Roma Wolves!

Gonna put some Radzinski goals here. Some big ones against big names.
    The ballyhooed winner against Saints:

Showing his wicked pace vs Southampton again:

Vs. Barthez and Beckham's Man Utd:
    And again:
    Vs Liverpool:
    Vs. Lazio:

    Vs Middlesbrough (cameo by Rooney):
    Vs Arsenal:
And an another beauty vs Arsenal:
    Vs. Switzerland:
    And again:
A beauty vs Panathinaikos while in his twilight years at Xanthi:
Not against a giant (Bolton) but perhaps one of his prettiest, not even looking human here:
First league goal for Anderlecht, vs Genk:
    Vs. Spurs:

Whitecaps are missing a bunch of midfielders and central defenders who people are hoping will be starters. Hopefully the game last night was an outlier... But anyone who has watched Puebla play will know that Cav is used to working with little service.

We've got 2022 to work towards first. One bad injury and anyone of those guys careers are over. I don't think anybody is banking on 2026 although they'll be hoping.
Six years is a long ways away.

Don't you think that just maybe, every player on the team wants to play in a World Cup?
    Just saying!

I don't know, seems like we're cherry picking information and making more of this than it actually is.  We gotta get over it at some point.  The guy was still a kid when he left, he matured and grew up in South America in a South American family and surroundings, its only normal he feels Latin.
Lots of other obvious and well documented factors played into him playing and not playing at different times for CANMNT (the 7-0 loss & Floro).  No one can deny Lucas has always been direct and honest when asked questions.  I don't feel its fair to assume anything here.

I found his goal vs. the US last year pretty well made the case for his affinity for Canada cut and dry.

Well there's gratitude for you. A guy who is busting his butt and risking injury to play for Canada and this is how some react!
    That's a very disappointing attitude!
Sure, he didn't handle that moment well. He was naive but he still deserves thanks for putting out for Canada.

Yep, Cav, David, Davies, Hoilett, Arfield, Miller, Vitoria, Cornelious, Laryea - only question is who the remaining CM/DM spot goes to.

I will wait until bad things actually happen before I start succession planning.  At this point we may not have a lot of evidence of his amazing abilities when it comes to coaching the CMNT, but we also don't have evidence of any alleged incompetence.  I am still reserving judgement until we hit the hard tests in the GC and CNL.  At this point, scouting his replacement seems premature.  And even if it turns out that he is a bit of a snakeoil salesman, the reality is that so far he has sold some important people the snakeoil.  While other factors would be in play (the rise of Davies, the potential for a Canada-scale golden generation, WC2026, etc.) two significant young targets have been recruited under his watch.  And yes, maybe he could do this just as effectively in a GM role - but  we don't really have cause for complaint yet in terms of his role as head coach.

I think the CSA will stand behind Herdman for some time regardless of results, if he fails the CSA will not quickly admit their error I hiring him! I just hope he is successful and proves a lot of people including myself wrong!

.... and Altidore started the year playing on an injured foot during the CCL which finally couldn't take anymore stress requiring in-season surgery! He finished 2017 and scored his MLS Cup winning goal on that same injured foot. Quite inspirational actually!

Giovinco had 13 goals and 15 assists last year (in MLS regular season alone), and Altidore is domestic.

The contract was terminated by mutual consent according to Bez in the Toronto Sun.
    Just saying!
Midfielder Ager Aketxe’s hefty contract, the biggest black mark on the resume of general manager Tim Bezbatchenko so far, was terminated “by mutual consent.”

I am pretty sure no one forced him to take the job.  He is a big boy - he can make his own decisions and live with the consequences.

Before he was given the job of coaching our men's team, there was talk of him potentially taking over the England WNT job, though I don't know if this was genuine interest or not.
It could have been used as leverage for the CanMNT job, but considering his success with the women of New Zealand and Canada, it wouldn't be surprising if the English interest was genuine.
Either way, I don't see it as the CSA doing Herdman a disservice. He didn't have to take this challenge. If he flames out, well that would be the risk he took, wouldn't it? It's hard for me to see it as the CSA doing him a disservice or setting him up to fail.

Ironically, TFC feels that at least part of what they did last year was a mistake.
