I agree. But I think as someone said in the One Soccer post-game show, they couldn’t key on him like they did in the Olympic Qualifying so that much have had something to do with it

I agree, but it was also his fault. He was very selfish, so there were times he had a pass to another attacker (one clear option to Dias) which he ignored. If you don't want to be double-teamed, lay it off, let the rival know you are not alone, they let up on you, and then you strike. He missed this tactical option quite a few times in games 2 and 3.
Edit: I was thinking about Doncic last night when I wrote this

The friendlies request may be not possible if the boys do the job which is getting to the Ocho.
The only possibility for friendlies past then is June 2022.
So no, I don’t want any friendlies soon.

He has opted to stay with Canada for the Suriname prep and isn’t joining Trinidad.

I am going to give an optimistic view on the potential Henry-Kennedy partnership for Tuesday.
    1. Both have pace and should be able to snuff out counters or close down balls into the channels. Vitoria isolated in space would not be aconcrrn
    2. Both are good in the air. Perhaps not as dominant as Vitoria, but better than Sturing, not that he would play anyway, but still...
    3. Both have a lot to prove, which could help them rise to the challenge.
    4. If this was pre determined, they will have gotten plenty of reps together by now, with a specific focus on gelling as soon as possible.
It won't replicate game action, but they have had at least one session against the team we saw last night, by the sounds of it, and honestly going up against Miller-Cavallini-Hoilett in training is excellent prep.
The plan is logical, I just hope it comes off if that is what we see.

The problem is simply that you can't keep Alphonso back and not ask him to attack. Vs the US in that second game he was a disaster, quite frankly, as he flew out of position and left us exposed.
So don't even bother, that is the way I see it. Let the guys on the back line stay back, with no added pressure to attack, and let the attackers do their business without having to be the ones holding down a defensive position.

I think it’s pretty clear that Herdman is going with Laryea at LB and Johnston at RB Tuesday if you read between the lines.
It’s clear he plans to start both or he would have started the odd man out last night or at least would have brought them on for Hoilett.

I was surprised no one asked about this in the post game match yesterday.  Obviously Herdman is keeping quiet about it but there is a real risk he is re-injured.  Although, on the flip side if that was the case you think they would have taken Vitoria out at half or something along those lines, to save him for game 2.

I thought he was fine..had some nice attacks for sure but was a bit lacking in the end product and made the wrong decision a few times.
I still think right now he’s our third best left winger and is a viable option as a sub - he’s close to being an automatic call for me right now.

Not going to spend time on this as most of it is conjecture and speculation. I will tell u have a look at the stats for liam in the game(pick your poison SofaScore etc ) and look at how well he did. He got a 7.4 rating with the most dribbles and runs with the ball. Completed the most take ons and had the most touches of any of the front three in the first half and 2nd half. He was i in n almost every free kick and corner and put in two very good corners that could  hve been goals for Vitoria and someone else.  He had a very good half of football and was unlucky not to score
He was part of most of everything Good in the first half out side the goals even though the pen was his shot   The two other goals in the first half were a cross from Kaye and a pass from Tajon( a very similar goal to Theo’s that liam assisted.)

For a fact most teams(pro and national teams)  do game specific transition. Players are given very specific tasks and instructions and even subs coming in to effect the game and do different things to unsettle a team. I’m sure liam and Theo being different types of players where given differed briefs and tactics.

I think we need to take a step back on the smash and bashing of Liam and his performance and potential. Theo came in when the other team was tiring and played with David Davies and Larin a bit different I’d say...

Again Liam is always proud and feel very fortunate to pull ion the red and always gives everything and plays  the way he is told too
...stand by to see what the next few weeks brings transfer wise...

Someone made this point in one of the other threads (not even sure if it was about Liam, but it applies) - a player like him would have been absolutely in the mix to play for the Canadian senior team a decade ago.  But the quality of players we are now seeing come through the ranks, especially in attack, means guys like Millar will really have to up their game if they want to get many meaningful caps.

That really does seem like it should make the decision easier - even if it is just to postpone a final decision. He is a young, athletic guy who has the chance to play some MLS first team footy in a position where we are clearly lacking depth.  It would be crazy for him to prematurely commit to them at this point.

Disagree. First app with the senior team and the guy just played 4 different positions in the span of a game and did quite well on all. Big big fan of Buchanan

The US has basically resigned themselves to him joining Canada.  They’re also ok with that since they have lots of great depth.
For Canada he’s still a real prospect.  He may not be out best prospect but he could get called up and produce for us.

I am still rooting for him.  I know not everyone agrees, but I thought he had a strong Olympic tournament.  Not spectacular - and definitely not the sort of impact that Tajon had - but I think he and Godinho were our two next best players.  He is still only 22, so while he definitely needs to get a stable club situation where he can rebuild his confidence and reputation, I think it is very possible.
Not saying he will or that he will ultimately have a big impact on the CMNT, but I am not writing him off yet.

All these attackers coming out of nowhere, makes me forget/remember about a guy named Ballou - crazy.

I'm convinced Corbeanu has the level to become a regular player for Wolves  I'd love for him to get a Championship loan this next season if he is not getting EPL minutes, and IMO another season of youth football would do nothing for him at this point.

I had fun those last 20 minutes with the big guns out there. Also feel the rest of the team just sharpened up and started to raise their level, everyone was clicking a big more, the pace picked up too. I take back what I said about Kaye.
Nice to see that Corbeanu is just fine walking into this mix as well.
I like what Herdman did tonight, hopefully we are all healthy going into Chicago, and that even Hoillet will be ready soon.

Buchanan isn't a RB. I think him and Corbeanu have jumped Millar in. the attacking spots.
They are both so dangerous, and direct.

    Johnston.
(I actually think it might be Johnston on the right and Laryea on the left against Suriname)
