It does feel like the season will kick off the 1st few weeks (at least) in a bubble before dispersing the teams to their home grounds.  Which really shouldn't be that hard to get working I'd think.
IG Field has been brought up more than once, sure Wade Miller and Co. would be flexible so long as the rent was getting paid.  If June/July stretched into August then well, just keep making yourself at home.

It's not about rising revenues for MLS that will help it surpass ligaMX as most MLS owners are happy running a discount league.
MLS needs to change their benchmarks of being a top league since it largely focuses on revenues, infrastructure, attendance etc.. but less on the quality of play. Given most MLS teams are not making profits so far, I can't see any rising tv revenues being deployed to materially increase player salaries.
Plus, any increase in player spending has been mostly on attacking players with little allocated to depth, back line and goalkeepers. In contrast, ligaMX clubs have more complete and balanced line ups.
According to Forbes techish like team valuations, 3 MLS teams are already more valuable than ligaMX clubs. But looking at payrolls, Monterrey is dishing out US$81m which is more than the 4 highest MLS team payrolls combined. Puebla's relatively lower payroll of US$22m is only slightly lower than TFC but higher than LA Galaxy.
LigaMX payroll structure is in line with top football leagues that pay out 80%+ of their revenues for player salaries. This has been helped by no salary caps and having some owners who have unlimited funds.
In contrast, MLS is following the North American pro sports league model of emphasizing the business side which means salaries account for much less of the revenues.

Cheeta reacted to VinceA in Where do you think Dwayne De Rosario will end up?
Didn't know where to put this but Neil Davidson has an article on De Ro's book and this passage made me laugh.

Toronto FC and Canada Soccer will not like some passages of the book. De Rosario does not spare either, although he makes it clear that both have come a long way in recent years and are worlds ahead of where they were.

"There's something special happening right now," he writes of the current Canadian men's team. "There's a hope and a belief among the national team that wasn't always there. (Coach) John Herdman deserves a lot of credit for that."

It's a far cry from having to return Canadian jerseys at a national camp "because we're giving them to the youth team." Or the Sony gift card De Rosario got from Canada Soccer for his second Canadian Player of the Year award in 2006.

The dynamic duo got seperated as the season got on, go figure.  Up and down campaign for both men to my eye but yeah, found money as far as I'm concerned if you could sell either one, or better still both of them, for that sort of clink.
Not sure Yilmaz has another season like that in him for no other reason then his age.  Things could turn on a dime for him.  And not for the better.
I really rate Maignan but as UT mentioned above, he may be a luxury on this team at this time.  Don't think he'd be easy to replace but the drop off doesn't necesarily have to be so great as to not justify selling him on at the right price.
Also rate Soumare just out of personal bias.  Probably more than some others.  My footballing DNA effects my eye sight, as it does us all.

You can completely change the team and system just by dumping Ikone and Bamba.  Theoretically valued at $33m and $27m!!  I don't see how anyone pays that for them.
Bring in Eustaquio and its a brand new team and system.
Need to mention, I don't see how Lille would've won without Maignan and Yilmaz, their contributions were huge.

^ Don't really think Moncton would have the weight Red Bull branding would looking for.  Even on a CPL scale.  Not trying to offend anyone, just saying.
If Red Bull wanted to explore CPL Montreal I have to find myself saying "Wow.".  For too many reasons, wow.
    Fun to speculate.

Based on his timeline, he seems legit.
Normally, I don't want soul less companies owning CPL clubs. But RB has shown they provide added value to the sport. With Canadian football being structurally deficient in almost every area, their processes, monies and drive will help us close the gap sooner.
Besides developing players, they bring in fresh tactics. They're also good at developing managers as 4 of the current managers in Bundesliga were developed by RB. Bayern just bought Nageslmann for 25m euros.
And in almost every sport they're involved, they don't aim to be losers as it would disprove RB gives you wings.

Here's a thought for a Tuesday morning.  Two years on as it were.
Looking back to the 2019 launch, all sort of Wild West as it was in a lot of ways, where would we be today if the CPL partnership hadn't gone all in but instead waited another year to try and get together a more perfect launch?
We'd be repacing anxiety about what sort of season the league will  have this year and when we can get our asses back into the grandstands with a project that died a COVID death.
Ha!  The gods love a lucky fool.  Seems to me there is quite a gang of them over at CPL HQ.

Help me here, people.  See if my memmory isn't as wretched as I think or maybe I missed something.
So, the CPL included a OneSoccer subscription with each 2020 season ticket renewal.   Wonderful marketing scheme I think everyone agreed.
Then Covid hit and everything went wonky.
CPL puts together the Island Games, best they could do given the circumstances it's generally agreed but you needed a subscription to watch the thing.  And you couldn't use the OneSoccer subscription which you received with your season ticket renewals because that subscription was going to be deferred to 2021.  You would have to buy a seperate subscription either directly from OneSoccer or through the CPL The Collective promotion.
Have I got it right so far?
Fast foward to last week when I'm informed my OneSoccer subscription has expired.  A subscription I had through buying into The Collective.  In response to an email I sent Valour regarding my hitherto paid for but as yet unreceived OneSoccer subscription.

On behalf of Valour FC thank you for your support. We recognize these past 13 months have been a challenge for our fans. The membership that was offered as part of the 2020 season ticket package was not pushed to the 2021 season.

So the tickets I bought and paid for 17 months ago which came with a OneSoccer subcription are a poorer value today?
Please correct my recollections where wrong.
And more importantly anyone know if this is a league wide policy?  Because I don't want to throw anyone under the bus or anything but it does sorta have that Blue Bomber/Valour feel to it.
Patiently awaiting a further clarification on the question from Valour.  $75 for a OneSoccer subscription.  Need to know if I'll have to cash in that $800 nest egg I left with Valour.

What I figure then: a 21-match season from late June to end of October.
I see the picture has changed. I posted a few months back that I thought they should do the first round, 7 matches, in a bubble, then the other 21 matches with fans playing in all venues, starting in July.
But I realise this was not quite right.
If you do the bubble there is no home or away, it is balanced. After, then, if you have to cut back on matches to fit them all, you do so by simply playing home and away: 14 matches on top of the 7 already played.
So this is what I think we'll get. If we now, pushing back the start to mid or late June, get a 21-match season, with each team getting 7 home matches in the late summer-fall, that is our current best case scenario. 21 matches, say 17-18 weeks, that takes us to the end of October, playoffs in November.
