  1. Not that the commentators announced his arrival but Chapman has made his debut for Miami and nearly scored on a header
  2. I had forgotten what a dirty prick of a player Don Dwyer is
  3. I hope that the extensive protest was just for the first game. If that is what they are going to do for every game (including taking a knee before and after the anthem) it will be counter productive to the movement
  4. Akindele is on the bench for Orlando but surprisingly not Kamal Miller
  5. Yikes, top 3 strikers all gone from the tourney.
  6. They have been "withdrawn" from the tourney, which sounds like a nicer way of saying kicked out. 10 of their players tested positive for Covid.
  7. I'm assuming you mean an employee strike rather than a missile strike but given the current economy for airline travel, I think a missile strike is more likely at this point.
  8. https://www.tsn.ca/toronto-fc-head-coach-greg-vanney-would-like-team-to-delay-florida-arrival-for-mls-tournament-1.1491468 From the article: While the Canadian MLS teams head south to the COVID hot spot of Florida, NHL teams reportedly will be coming the other way to play. Canada, Vanney said, seems to have "a lot better control of the situation." "To be able to go into that environment as a team would be a lot more comfortable than going down to what has essentially become the epicentre of the virus," he said. "So for sure, that (coming to Canada) is a smart move."
  9. TFC's other first round draft pick, Nyal Higgins (from Ajax, Ontario) was signed to a contract today - albeit to TFC II. So were two other academy kids (both Canucks), midfielder Antonio Carlini and defender Themi Antonoglou
  10. That Spencer as a strker/#9 got a 1st team contract at all after failing to prove he could even score at the USL level is what lead to so many fans criticizing Vanney for that particular move and the strong suggestion/appearance of nepotism. I also like Vanney as a coach but he isn't immune to warranted criticism.
  11. There was about a 125% chance of something like this happening in Orlando or Texas.
  12. Has any explanation been given by MLS why Orlando of all places was picked as the hub city for MLS games in July? Outside of the issue of the growing number of Covid 19 cases in Florida (which perhaps they wouldn't have guessed would happen) I just read that some games are being held at 9am in order to avoid playing during the intense heat of the afternoon, which they surely must have known would be an issue. Seems like the worst possible choice they could have made.
  13. https://www.tsn.ca/video/could-davies-do-for-soccer-in-canada-what-nash-carter-did-for-basketball~1978655 The level of knowledge/ignorance here between media pundits who are not "soccer guys" is interesting but perhaps part of what Alphonso Davies could possibly change for Canada.
  14. According to livescore he is starting again today against Fortuna Dusseldorf

  17. US Roster is released on tonight’s LAFC broadcast. Mostly MLS players but a few Euro based players in Llanez and Ledezma, to name two. A few senior team players made the list from the brief glance I saw on the screen - Reggie Cannon, Paxton Pomykal, Jackson Yeuill ..... not going to be easy
  18. Thought his introduction was the difference in the game.
  19. Morgan & Hamilton have yet to see the bench for their respective clubs after the first two games. Neither has Norman Jr. Jay Chapman at least made the bench yesterday for Miami but did not the see the field. The same can be said for Dayne St. Clair but Raheem Edwards however did get onto the field in the 88th minute for Minnesota in their 5-2 drubbing of San Jose, and Tajon Buchanan came on for another late sub appearance for the Revs. Kamal Miller did not leave the bench for Orlando (who seem to have gone to a back three) but Akindele played the full 90 in their 2-1 loss to Colorado.
  20. I hasn't realized he had even signed for Vancouver - this is the same guy who is from Chile?
  21. I am wondering if you mean 1981 instead of 1985? I watched all the qualifiers in 1985 on CBC (except the home match against Costa Rica as I was in the stands for that one to see that famous equalizer by Paul James).
  22. Hamilton not dressed for Columbus and the only Chapman dressed for LAFC v Miami is the ref. Jakovic and Kaye start for LAFC however
  23. It was actually Brault-Guillard who was ball watching on the play - to be fair, I thought ZBG had an excellent game otherwise.
  24. Apparently Fraser wasn't started because of the way San Jose plays with their "run around the field and man-mark people wherever the hell they go" style.
