Top 5 for MLS power rankings are Atlanta, Seattle, LAFC, Minnesota and Toronto. Montreal and Vancouver are 14 and 19 respectively.
I think Atlanta are overrated. I expect them to slip without Josef Martinez. I would love for them to miss the play offs. I find myself cheering against them and Seattle at every opportunity

Gonna put some Radzinski goals here. Some big ones against big names.
    The ballyhooed winner against Saints:

Showing his wicked pace vs Southampton again:

Vs. Barthez and Beckham's Man Utd:
    And again:
    Vs Liverpool:
    Vs. Lazio:

    Vs Middlesbrough (cameo by Rooney):
    Vs Arsenal:
And an another beauty vs Arsenal:
    Vs. Switzerland:
    And again:
A beauty vs Panathinaikos while in his twilight years at Xanthi:
Not against a giant (Bolton) but perhaps one of his prettiest, not even looking human here:
First league goal for Anderlecht, vs Genk:
    Vs. Spurs:

Seriously, this has to be the worst ranking of leagues I have ever seen. Brazil is 2nd; Bundesliga is 10th.  It has zero credibility if it has anything to do with the quality of the players.

Sorry I’m an idiot don’t understand “ white knight “. So your  such an expert on soccer that you can detect that the play is watered down ? I don’t know how old you are but I come from an era when trying to find any soccer on tv or in any media here in Canada was virtually impossible. Put it this way I had to go to an Honduras social club back in 1985 to watch Canada play in a World Cup qualifying game against Honduras. So ya I’m just loving all this soccer I’m able to watch now here in Canada and the attention a league like the MLS has here in Toronto even if it’s a fraction of what the Leafs, Raptors and Jays get. So ya when I’m watching games with full stadiums and yes not all stadiums are always full I’m loving it because compared to soccer back in the Stone Age back in the 1980’s this is a beautiful time for me , and now throw in the CPL and even better. Therefore, this constant bashing of the MLS I don’t capisco if you understand what is what like for a soccer nut like me back in the day!

Might have been a better result for Montreal had they been able to play at Stade Saputo.   Honestly,  i think that the hardness of the surface and ensuing high bounces and difficulty in the controlling the ball,  hurt Montreal much more than the Honduran side.   I dont think that there is any question that talent-wise,  Montreal had the upper hand by far.

But those fractions of seconds that are lost because of high ball bounces, means that the team with the better talent cant get into rhythm and flow.  And better teams can play and move the ball quicker which you cant do because you spend the whole friggen watching the ball in the air and waiting for it to land on the ground.    High ball bounces nullifies all the advantages that the more talented team would have.
No soccer should be played on that kind of suface.

I think with the coronavirus, the more likely scenario by the day is that the March friendly matches get cancelled and perhaps even FIFA closes the window.  I dont see federations taking the risk of flying players in from all over the world to play such matches. It would suck for us but the Road to Qatar may be seriously clogged by the virus

I think we should put this dream of El Salvador agreeing to play us to bed. I see no chance they agree to that, unless somehow they are behind on points. But then why would we do it....

What a joke!  They should put the MLS draft down to 2 rounds.  Whats the sense of having half the picks go unused in round 4?? Remember in the 80's when the NBA had multiple rounds and they cut it back to 2?

There was supposed to be more news this year about 2026.   I recall at the time that the WC was awarded to the joint bid,  that the Organizing  committee indicated that the final list of host cities would be announced in 2020.   This list should (one would suspect) coincide with the other info like “ whose automatically in”.

Yes.  And there are also the intangible factors.  It will be easier to stir up interest and keep squads motivated by playing in the hex.  Thats due to the type of opponents, the regional rivalries factor, the familiarity of the opposing players and the geo-political..etc.  There is greater pride in wearing the jersey when the setting feels like the matches you are playing feel important to you and your countrymen.
WCQ in concacaf can feel very different depending on the opponents. A hex opponent can offer up a packed stadium in professional venue whereas the repechage route conjures up images of dusty fields, empty stadiums and backwater settings.  Thats not going to sell well in canada because it will look and feel like your in the second division.  The psyche of playing in that kind of setting can, in itself, adversely affect results in the short and long term.

    These are my quick calculations for for qualification vis a vis the hex and the reperchase route;
    HEX
20% chance we are top 3 of 6 and qualify directly
    20% chance we finished 4th
50 % chance we beat the reperchase winner; 40% chance we win the intercontinental (that’s difficult to call as we don’t know which conference)
    So the HEX route gives us the following: 20% + (20% x 50% x 40%) = 24%

    REPERCHASE
98% chance we win our group (assuming seeding)
90% chance we win quarter final (assuming seeding)
80% chance we win semi final
    70% Chance we win final
50% chance we win 4th place
    40% chance we win intercontinental
So Reperchase is 9.8% chance of qualifying
I would take the Hex route hands down

When the heck is the intercontinental draw? They havent even announced a date. Would be nice if we knew who we would play before March friendlies. If its Oceania then missing the hex aint all that bad, if its South America everybody panic.

Scallywags is a no can do.  They have buggered us too many times going there, never again.
There are two Toronto locations, possibly a third.  There is a conflicting Leafs game, so it is not so simple to do.
The Pint has a private room booked via Footy Talks.  Holds 100 people
Cloak & Dagger is a small pub, but we know the bar tender so we have the run of the place. No leafs collision there.
Shoeless for people in the west end is also on the table, just waiting to hear back.

Kind of sad to see..I cant say I knew much about these kids, but Nelsen, Habs and Rowe have good pedigrees.  I was hoping for more, with all the talk of our youth being better etc.  But I looked back on the 2013 u-17 WC roster, We only have Hamilton who has really gone anywhere...Boustous, Froese, Carducci..maybe still time??  Previsouly in 2011 Crepeau, Piette, Chapman, Petrasso have done decently after their U-17 cup.  So maybe expecting more than 1-2 of these kids to get to a CMNT level is just pie in the sky on my part.
