    Cyle Larin

Hey, I am happy to rip Larin a new one when it is deserved, but that is a good play. He passes it to the mid, sprints past 2 defenders to receive the ball in space, and then cuts it back way across the box to give B an easy finish. In my books, that is a solid play by Larin.

I'm not getting this call for more league matches. To my mind, given the length of our playing season and participation in cup fixtures high twentys-low thirties seems to be the ceiling if we're to have a salary capped league. Regardless of the number of teams in the league. I love (really love) the idea of a balanced schedule but when this venture gets to 10,11, 12 teams (and it well) the scheduling is going to get awkward. In my perfect world match spacing would be more consistant. I'm sure that would be part of the CPL's perfect world to but with Forge and Valour sharing venues that just adds to the difficult come high summer and into the fall.

Well, the number of people who pay to watch English football both live and on TV would seem to put you in a small minority. That is how it works in most of the football world where the sport is quite popular. Cup competitions provide the "sudden death" drama you crave, so in football you can have your cake and eat it too. Without the need for play offs.

He played VERY well. Made some very crucial big tackles in the box to save them. Was involved in the attack a lot as well.

Sometimes ugly wins are good - especially as we head into play the US. I thinks we have suffered from overconfidence in the Haiti game, and perhaps a strong result would have done the same against the US which will require a complete game. With Airfield, Holliett and Cavallini back it should be a pretty amazing game against the Yanks - looking forward to the next series.

So, you would prefer that they keep that under wraps then and go on a twitter blackout leading up to the game? Or should we go back to what we've always done in terms of preparation, and not entertain new ideas to perhaps get a different result? Seems like when this is the complain, we've run out of things to complain about.

    Jordan Hamilton

Not sure when his contract expires, but I think he should consider going overseas, possibly Scandinavia. You see the success Adekugbe is having with Valerenga. Hamilton has accrued much more MLS experience and despite never nailing down a starting spot, he's scored a fair number of goals. I think Norway would be a good launching pad for him, as would Sweden or Finland, though Denmark would likely be tougher. He needs to go where he can get minutes. Hamilton is one of those players who I wouldn't reccomend go to the CPL. Even if he scored buckets of goals, I don't think his stock will raise that much in our domestic league. I could be wrong, but considering the experience he already has in MLS and USL, I think he should try a lower level European league.

    Richmond "Richie" Laryea

Laryea really has been the surprise signing for TFC. I was not expecting much at all since he couldn't cut it in a bad Orlando team. I think he has been TFC's top performer in the last few matches especially. Been solid defensively and the guy has a knack for getting around defenders in the penalty box. Such a irritating player to defend when given just enough space near the box. For sure earned himself a call up for Canada.

    CPL new teams speculation

Which crowd are you refering to as " announced crowd of 1200 in Victoria"? Last two (not including today which has no # yet) were : Sept 4th.....2124 Sept 11th...2384 As for Forge FC, we don't know what the new config will be capacity wise, the club has averaged about 6K without the inaugural match. New Capacity will likely be 6-7K and they can open sections as needed easily for more demand. Makes sense to conscentrate the fans on one side for the atmosphere and broadcast optics so tweaking the stadium config is a good move imho and theres still flexibility. Your freebies comment is conjecture not fact. All leagues have games where attendances look very sparse because of weather, weekday scheduling, etc. and I've posted pics of some examples this summer from USL and MLS.

    Herdman new head coach

Back to the topic. If we can win our series vs. the US we top our group. If we match them, and they do not get the results we did vs. Cuba, also. That is a good place to be in I would say. Because we play them at home just after their first Cuba match, more rested than they are and likely with them resting players vs. Cuba to prep for us; and then the same in November, us at home and then away to Cuba, their scheduling is not overly conducive to running up the score vs. Cuba or having it easy against us.

Still had about 3500 there almost id say with about 1500 was killie fan a very good traveling fan base. Spfl is a crazy league for attendance. Killie can get 12000 when the old firm come to play(5-6000 regular home gate) and Ibrox is always good for at least 30000 even against less popular teams. The old firm derby today he 60000 then you get teams like St Mirren or Ross county that are lucky to get 4000 and everything in between. The football is the same a mixed bag. The derby today was a crazy game...

    Mark-Anthony Kaye

Good game from Kaye. He is very brave with his forward passing. Not afraid to make mistakes. Very strong on the ball, does not get caught in possession, but his passes do get picked off at times. An aerial threat on set pieces. Very patient on the ball and excellent vision. Great game tying assist today. He can play anywhere in the midfield, but asking him to play more conservatively as a defensive mid, basically covering for Oso and Arfield, would be a waste of Kaye's talents. At this point I'd start Kaye beside Arfield, with Hutch or Piette or Teibert behind them. Given Kaye is starting regularly for the 1st place team and Osorio is not starting regularly for a mediocre TFC, I think Kaye has won his spot for the fall fixtures.

    Herdman new head coach

I was never a big fan of Herdman, but people need to get over that we didnt win by enough. If before both games we knew we would get 6 points, 2 clean sheets, and a +7 goal difference not too many people would complain. Would everyone be happier if we had won 4-0 and 3-0? The US basketball team, albeit their G/H? team isn't even goin to medal at the World Cup. Just because you are better on paper you will not dominate every game at international level.

Isn't any kinda information outside of the league and team officially announcing considered pre mature? Isnt that the whole point of the tweet? And isn't someone in the know calling it premature actually then confirming the information is correct but saying the information is being released premature to when people actually wanted the information released.

    General - CONCACAF Nations League

On big soccer some are talking about calling a B+ squad against us. I wish they would. Some also see it as development first and winning second. I don’t think GB will see it that way, but we have more at stake than they do and that is a fact. So we’ll see how that suits us. Not to get over confident, but I can see us surprising them at home, perhaps jumping out to an early lead and hanging on for a win. I think their centre backs are going to have trouble with David and Cavallini. Davies is going to cause problems, but they’ll be ready for that, much like we will plan to contain Pulisic (or at least try to). I am not convinced by the back line of either side, so I can see this one being a high scoring affair. The return leg will be much tougher and probably a lot more cagey, both sides having gained experience against the other. The optimist in me wants to predict a draw, but a close 1 goal loss is what I expect. Both sides will beat Cuba, but by how much? As mentioned, we have more to play for than them, so perhaps we can put more goals past Cuba than them. If we split with them and beat Cuba by more, we are on our way to the final round in June, where more points, which we desperately need for the hex, are on the table.

    HFX Wanderers Season Thread 2019

Some "stunning" tidbits on how well HFX is doing while the CFL group is fumbling according to this CBC article. A sports economist says the backers of a proposed CFL franchise in Halifax should take a page out of the playbook of the HFX Wanderers FC to get more public support. "That team has almost immediately built itself into the fabric of the city," said Moshe Lander, who spends part of the year teaching at Dalhousie University in Halifax. After spending May and June in Halifax, he said he was "stunned" by the number of people he'd see out in the Spring Garden Road area every night wearing Wanderers jerseys and scarves. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/nova-scotia/atlantic-schooners-cfl-franchise-halifax-hfx-wanderers-fc-1.5262867

    CPL new teams speculation

So your using a phantom attendance number of 1200 that never happened and pretending its a real number instead of the official attendance number of 2384. Your trying to use that figure of 1200 is an out and out lie and using it like its real is a lowpoint for you, you've lost all credibility. As for eyeballing how many you think are in the stadium, attendance figures are tickets distributed (sold/comped) not turnstile for pro sports as most knowledgeable fans know.

My opinion on the game: Possession and passes completed was extremely impressive, especially considering we played with 10 men for a third of the game, and against a team that was playing 10 men behind the ball at basically all times. Frustrating we couldn't find ways to penetrate and make anything happen, and we need more movement off the ball. That said ,we were missing half our starters and some of our most impactful players (arfield, hoillett, hutch, cav, etc) Borjan - No comment - basically non existent in this one. Laryea - Not as impactful as last game, but still looked good out there. Vitoria - Pretty much invisible..but thats not a bad thing. Henry - Some kids never learn. Not 100% sure what he said, but these kinds of plays always piss me off, and he has to be better than that Adekugbe - Not sure why he is getting a lot of hate on here. I actually thought he drove a lot of the offence, and looked good out there. Johnson - Worked his butt off - nothing too flashy, cleaned up when he had to Kaye - Last game i thought besides Hoillett he was the best player on the field. Today - not so much. He was fine, but didn't stand out. David -On the wing, he was non existant. I think he needs to play in the middle. Seems weird, but It feels odd watching a game where David doesnt score...haha Davies - First half he was wheelin', taking on guys 1 v 1, drawing lots of fouls. Thought he slowed down a lot in the 2nd half. Overall a better perfomance than game 1....and he scored. In first half, i'd say he was our most effective player.. Larin - I've been wanting to like Larin for a long time...but every game I watch it makes it harder...pretty ineffective all around. Millar -Wish he woulda got more time. Super quick, would have been nice to see him one the right with davies on the left - both of em flying up and down the flanks. Can't wait to see how they lineup with all the boys back for the USA game.

I think Zanatta, Paton, Trafford, Stanese, would be the next wave of targets. Guys make $70k or so abroad. CPL will not fall all over themselves to sign Aleman. He might have a spot because he's still youngish. Boskovic would certainly be a target, as would any player associated with an MLS club. Drew Beckie is no better than Murrell or Thomas who have both struggled at times in the CPL.

    CPL Stadium Thread

PHOTOS: Inside the opening of the expanded Westhills Stadium The grand opening of the expanded stadium in Langford is on schedule for Aug. 24 Home to the Premier League soccer team, which approached the City in spring 2018, as well as Rugby Canada and the Westshore Rebels football team, the stadium has undergone significant upgrades costing about $8.8 million since Langford City Counil approved the expansion last July. Once complete, the expanded stadium will accommodate 6,000 spectators in the purple or white plastic seats that were added to the new and existing grandstands, on the folding bleachers on the field, or in one of 18 VIP suites. https://www.saanichnews.com/sports/photos-inside-the-opening-of-the-expanded-westhills-stadium/
