As far as I know not a single player from that video made it past u16 at TFC or plays pro. Except Liam. (If anyone knows different please let me know) there were some really quality players there a keeper named Alex. A defender named Jayden A striker who’s name I can’t remember. . Glen M and Shaun Hundal came to TFC a few years later than this video Ryan Raposo wasn’t selected as part of that group. (too small again, Liam and Ryan played together for one season in Burlington U12) The voice on the tape is Rick Titus btw. A great coach from NMSC and TFC. Played a few games for TFC too ... sorry for my limited replies. the twitter post of my response on here has forced me to be selective in what I’ say. I thought this was a closed group didn’t expect to be quoted.... I even msgd the guy on twitter Asking to take down the post and he blanked me and left it up. Will try to add what I can but won’t talk any specifics at all as don’t want it repeated outside of here ....

From what I’ve seen of Bassong at Cercle Brugge, he hasn’t looked fantastic, just invisible, because he doesn’t play (on a pretty bad team too). if we are playing with a traditional LB it’s Sam all day for me

    Ayo Akinola

This thread is overzealous. Ayo is not worthy of CMNT call-up, nor is he close to the quality we have at U-23 level. He hasn't done much to impress me to have these conversations of "will he or won't he" . If he declares tomorrow that he wants to represent Canada - then great! but he still has a lot of work to do for there to be any further covnersations.

    Stephen Eustaquio

I get that, but if Eustaquio is close to Piette in terms of defensive stability, the constant threat of a quick-release counter attack would keep opposing teams a bit more cautious - even if defence is our primary objective in a game. Ultimately, I just have a feeling that we may be a more challenging opponent with Stephen in the side.

It’s just like in the NFL where everyone’s favourite player is the backup QB. Everyone always wants to replace all of the non superstar starters on their team, even though the guys behind them are there for a reason. Everyone wants to bench Adekugbe, Henry, etc with guys who are way less proven and playing at lower levels. Just because Henry makes some mistakes, doesn’t mean he should be replaced by someone that’s basically the same age, has never played anywhere near the level he’s played at, and has a lower upside athletically. Don’t get it.

Happy Canada Day. Here is my list of our current top 10 most important players, ranked. 1. Davies - our brightest star, can and will do it all, a phenom of world football 2. David - the iceman, will score many, many goals for us, plain and simple 3. Arfield - our captain, a true midfield general, experienced leadership, tenacious hard worker, creative and can score goals 4. Hoilett - cool in possession, plays a Concacaf style ie. draws many fouls, can cross or attack the box, long range scoring threat, brings a swagger and confidence we need in our lineup 5. Eustaquio - will establish himself as our best young midfielder as soon as we start playing games, reminds me of Julian deGuzman but is more creative and can score goals 6. Cavallini - his game is perfectly suited to open up space for David, adds toughness, grit and experience to our attack 7. Borjan - our best shot stopping keeper ever, a wealth of Concacaf experience, will have to be at the top of his game to keep Crepeau on the bench 8. Kaye - our most versatile player, extremely well rounded midfielder, can score goals and protect the back line, good enough to make the jump to European football sooner than later 9. Osorio - our most creative midfielder, has the trust and confidence of the manager, not suited for every occasion or game, knows how to win, brings passion and big game experience 10. Henry - we are only as strong as our weakest link, our backline, and for better or worse it will be Henry who will anchor our backline, inconsistency has dogged Henry his entire career, but he has all the tools he needs to be an imposing and dominant centre back

    Stephen Eustaquio

One thing we can all agree on is that Eustaquio needs to be called up regularly going forward, and that he offers something neither Piette or Kaye do. The 3 of them are very different types of players, and that sort of versatility will only benefit the CMNT going forward

I'm pretty over this guy at this point. Rather just focus on the likes of Didic and Zator. They aren't in as good as leagues, but their the best in the CPL, younger and actually seem interested in playing for their country. They're also not made of rice krispies.

Sask and Man always get screwed. You watch, it'll go to BC. 280 bucks for a round of golf....I can get you on a nice public course in SW MB for 8$. The sand greens might be a bit tricky for the golf "snobs" though.

My last memory of Ricardo Ferreira was watching him get roasted by Zardes during a friendly between Portugal and the USA. It was his only cap for Portugal, but he really struggled against fast players. He is a big body, a threat in the air, a good passer. He is not very fast and I doubt he is faster now post injury. Very similar skill set to Vitoria. Just a reminder before we start to get too excited about him. He might not even be good enough for us at the moment.

    General Discussion on CMNT

I can't get behind the 3 men defence. We all agree that the CB position is our biggest weakness by far. So starting an extra one makes no sense to me personally. I think people pick this so they can place Davies as a WB, but if that means hampering your starting 11 a little bit, it isn't worth it. Think people forgot Davies is more than capable of playing as a winger/forward.... He is at his best on counter attacks. When Canada plays against tougher oppositions and are expected to have much less of the ball, Davies up front could be devastating for the other team on counters alone. I do agree that David should be playing behind the striker. That's why I still think a 4-2-3-1 formation could be best, or possibly a diamond mid. Diamond formation might be slightly preferred because of the depth and quality we have in midfield compared to other positions. Where as the 4-2-3-1 position will have a right wing position that's imo isn't to settled yet. I personally don't consider Hoillett a must starter. The current "box" formation we play with isn't baaad, but it does have more glaring weaknesses. Now having said that, enjoy my half finished preferred line up. Borjan Laryea TBD TBD TBD Eustaquio Osorio Kaye (or at LB) David Cavallini Davies Reason why I left the CB's position open are for a couple reasons. 1) Holding out to see what Ricardo Ferreira's status is. If he gets fitness and form, could be a big deal for us. 2) Would like to see more of Waterman's performances. 3) Position is so freaking bad no one should be considered a guarantee. It's the position that's going to require the most experimentation's. If that even includes trying out Atiba or Fraser in that position, so be it. What's making me keep a closer eye on Ferreira and Waterman is their ability on the ball. They're better passers than the rest of our CB's. Defensively, I could care less, no one is out performing someone else by a big margin to convince me they should get a start purely for their defensive work. If they're close to the same skill level defensively (which is already not great) I would much rather pick the guy that can finally help us build from the back properly instead of constant hoofing the ball down or brain fart giveaways under pressure. It's one of the reason why I would still consider Vitoria to be looked at despite his lack of playing time. His passing is extremely useful. LB position, again, still undecided due to some of the players keeping a close eye on. It is a position that could maybe allow Kaye in there because again, he does have better passing movement and experience playing there, and does allow someone like Arfield in the starting lineup.

Atiba was only playing 8 WCQ matches, 6-8 GC matches, and maybe 4-6 friendlies in each 4-year cycle. With Nations League, better prospects in WCQ, and increased friendlies, the Daves should rack up caps at nearly twice the rate.

    TFC 2020 Season

Oh boy. OH BOY....................Right off the bat he was a hold over from Vanneys youth scout days, first with U-15 USA, where he "discovered" him. He got the kid into the USA youth program then to RSL academy. The kid lived with Vanney for 6 months as a teenager. Then he brought him to 3 consectutive (RSL/Chivas/TFC) teams he was working with after that?? FISHY?? NAH, except he also brought in Delgado and Zaveletta as well. SO...Vanney got him into TFC, he blew his knee for a second time, sat for a year recovering and THEN we signed him after all that, not worried about him being damaged goods. And there were feel good articles about Vanneys faith in Spencer, how he knew he would recover to the form that put him on US youth teams etc. https://www.torontofc.ca/playerprofile/ben-spencer Then he basically **** the bed at TFC2, couldnt score over 2 seasons, all the while akinola and Hamilton when down there scored and earned their minutes up at the big club. And we had to listen to the commentators tell us about his soft feet and although he was 6'5 and slow, he wasnt very good in the air. And the whole time we are on this board hoping local kids like Balboui or Akinola, draft picks like ENdoh will get the start, get some more minutes etc and Hamilton who had already proved himself at TFC2 and scored in MLS was sitting right there on the bench. And for some reason Spencer gets his 5 games, 261min in MLS over those guys. And Vanney fed us some BS about him wanting a more "target" hold up type forward as opposed to guys who could score. And i wont even mention the time Zavs (the nephew) was having a terrible game and Vanney pulled him and replaced him with Spencer...they prob had a good laugh about the times they used to play Nintendo in Vanneys basement at Thanksgiving. I guess you could call all that a narrative.... https://www.wakingthered.com/2017/5/2/15521544/toronto-fc-sign-american-usa-international-ben-spencer-contract-2017-mls-transfers https://www.cp24.com/sports/toronto-fc-signs-reserve-player-ben-spencer-to-senior-team-1.3395111 https://chatnewstoday.ca/2017/05/28/after-hard-injury-road-spencer-savours-mls-debut-but-looks-to-the-future/
