    Axel Desjardins

Hello. I am excited to announce that Axel has been transferred to serie C side Novara, one of the oldest clubs in Italy! It's been a complicated couple of weeks with the new coaching staff and the new director, but Axel finally signed the paperwork this morning. A lot of people to thank for the deal, but mostly his agent and his keeper coach from last season, who by the way, won keeper coach for the 19-20 serie B season. Novara told Axel the starting spot was up for grabs, so it's up to him to earn it. I may be a little biased, but I trust Axel to do what it takes. He has the character to succeed. Thank you to Spezia Calcio for the wonderful years and for keeping him under their wing for so long. Hope they get to stay in Serie A, and hope Axel gets to play against them in the future. New challenge up ahead! Exciting times! Here is a picture of Axel from this weekend, all smiles with his big beard:

I spoke with Scott on the weekend. He's been training with the team. The Jahn coaching staff had the players do some speed trials recently. Scott was clocked at 35.5 kmh. He's feeling good and he expects to play in the upcoming friendly against Nuremburg.

I don’t agree.I don’t think it’s Jonny fault he gets Zero service... It wasn’t the best penalty it he was the one that earned it and it takes I lot to step up and take the pen when you confidence is low. I’m shocked at how poor Lille’s defence is and ffs why won’t the mids play the ball info Jonny feet or in behind. They look right at him and lose the ball. The m shocked at how bad they are playing Celtic haven’t won in 3 games. Lille overplay the ball... and teams will figure them out soon.. jonny is a great player and an even better kid. Liam calls him the ice man he will work through it. And come out a better player

Anybody who posts here in good faith and cheers for the Nats is a V in my view. You don't have to been to a match or sit in the supporters section to qualify - after all, it's not like we are the US who play a ton of home games and wisely spread their home games around, there are a lot of fans who don't have the opportunity to attend a live Canada match. Canada (the men at least) hasn't played in Atlantic Canada since what.... 1985? I bet half of you kids reading this weren't even born at that time.

He worked his way up the Danubio system from the youth squads to becoming a full fledged first team starter in October of 2019. To my knowledge, this would still be the case if not for some personal/private matters beyond football. Great to hear he's back! I would assume this present time spent with the reserves (similar to Eustaquio's time spent with the Cruz Azul reserves), is likely nothing more than a conditioning stint to get his form and fitness back to where it was at the end of 2019. Looking forward to see him rep the Red and White with the rest of our young standouts.

Arfield clarified this past weekend that he has not retired from international football. Scotty said that he has spoken with Herdman many times since the last camp in November 2019. Also said that Herdman will be announcing a squad in the next 2 weeks, so perhaps there is a friendly on the horizon: https://www.rangersnews.uk/international/rangers-star-scott-arfield-gives-update-on-canada-future-amid-uncertainty/

This thread deserves a serious bump. I always support all CMNT players, but I was on him way back in 2015 when he would sometimes be played out wide and look awful. He has turned into quite the exceptional talent and I don't think it is being appreciated enough on here. Two recent things for the recognition bump: 1) rocking the captain armband for TFC who currently sit top of the table in MLS. 2) How much his defensive ability has improved and how he has looked quite capable in his hybrid Defensive Midfield role. The reality is if Canada is going to make a deep WC qualifying run, and say I dream make a world cup, we need our mids to be very well rounded on both sides of the ball. I'm not calling Osorio our #1 defensive mid by any means but his ability and his defensive improvements have been quite impressive. Here is to hoping he continues his upwards trajectory and form for the rest of 2020 and carries that into March WCQ for us.💪 *it's Friday and I seem to be in a really good supporter mood* haha

    Dominik Yankov

At this point in time, Dominik Yankov is neither JDG2, nor is he Ryan Telfer. We won't know how big a loss he is to the program for at least a couple more years. He is exactly what he is...a 20-year old getting good minutes in a top club in a poor league. He might turn out to be excellent, but he might also turn out to be not that great. Time will tell. It would've been nice to watch and cheer for another young Canuck in the upcoming Europa League, though.

    Ballou Tabla

It's still a garbage move and for a coach to do that is an indictment against the coach, first and foremost. If you think he is your guy, then he goes on. If things don't work out, first of all, it is not all on him, a whole team is playing. The goals against are not even on his side of the pitch. And secondly, taking him out with a few minutes left proves nothing except you are not in control of your coaching decisions. It's low. For me, instead of saying Ballou is done, I'd say Henry is done.

Is it just me or does anyone else think that Henry moving Piette all over the pitch and making him more involved in the offense will make him a better player in the long run. I dont get to see Impact games as much as the other 2 CDN teams, but I was impressed with Piette going forward tonight. Kind of like the opposite of Rusty who used to be able to create some chances and he had it coached out of him, Piette seems to be adding more aspects to his game, other than just a destroyer. Still only 25.....

    Liam Fraser

There are a few posters on here who really seem to think Fraser is a bad footballer and not deserving of a chance to play for the mighty TFC, everyone is entitled to their opinion but I don't see where it is coming from, he has looked quite good in his limited playing time IMHO! This is a Canadian Soccer forum and I would think most people would want him to get more of a chance and succeed, why would anyone not want that?

Situations like this are a fact of life in a globalized world. Heck, look at Tyler Boyd - he played full friendlies for New Zealand before decamping for the US team. I get we're all emotional but some of the criticism here doesn't make a lot of sense. We should have called Yankov to play in 2019 or 2020? He wasn't eligible. We should have had a mini camp this summer? Camp COVID? Quarantine carnival? If you're an actual pro, would you show up to a voluntary a Nats training camp and risk disrupting your actual paid career by getting this virus or having to quarantine? For no real reason? Nope. We're blaming Herdman for not instituting more consequences for not committing? Do ultimatums sound like a very good strategy for dealing with players that have more than one option? And if he declines, are we really going to blacklist him? We don't have the depth or the negotiating power with players. Let alone someone that is actively playing in another country's youth team. Bulgaria wouldn't be wasting a call-up on a kid that was definitely going to play for another country. He was still playing for Bulgaria under-whatevers as late as last week! It's pretty obvious that Yankov was using Canada and his one-time switch either as leverage into the Bulgarian program, or as a happy and willing second-choice.

Watched the first half and was focusing on Eustaquio. He's such an efficient player. Very comfortable on the ball and great distributor. In the starting lineup, he'st t listed as the right mid but he basically plays the Michael Bradley role when the other team is attacking, sitting in front of the back four. Since I bought up Bradley, Eustaquio's passing is night and day better than MB and his defensive positioning is also better. When his team regains position, he'll sometimes drift back between tihe CB's to receive the ball and start the attack out from the back. He doesn't look physically imposing or even solid like a Piette but he isn't afraid to get stuck in. He sees the field extremely well and he knows where he's going to pass the ball as it's coming to him. He'll be a fantastic addition to the national team. Canada's probably a decent back four away from a seriously competitive CONCACAF qualifier. Also, I don't speak Portuguese but the announcer and colour guy was talking up Eustaquio a lot during the half
