  1. Results from the DFB Pokal (Jahn Regensburg made it to the 1/4 finals after beating FC Koln - Scott scored for Jahn). Scott was scored by SofaScore at 7.39 throughout the Pokal. This ranked him at number 176 out of the 1195 German players in the Pokal. By reference, Alphonso Davies scored 7.5 (107th overall). I think we're going to be ok.

  3. It annoys me how confident Suriname fans are about this game. Like who do they think they are. Reading all the YouTube comments you would think we are still garbage. Time to put them back in their place. Also as someone mentioned the Honduras game above. I still remember where I was when I found out the score. Please don't let that happen again.

  5. Sorry I was out tuning up my crystal ball. I know a lot of people are nervous about tonight's game but I'm more nervous about One Soccer and if I can watch the game on my TV instead of my computer.😀 Anyways back to my crystal ball. First half finishes 2-0 Canada. Second half 2-1 (just to make us a little nervous) 3-1 (relieves a little of our blood pressure) 4-1 (everyone can breathe now) See you all in the OCT. (i know there's another round to go).

    Derek Cornelius

Fwiw he posted on insta a few days ago at an airport and then has gone quiet (he usually posts regularly). I may be looking into it too much, but I woul like be shocked if he didn't have a move in the works. He doesn't appear to be in Whitecaps plans. He has been a regular under Herdman and one of our best CB regularly and was also a top player for the u23 team. There is no way he wasn't a least called to the taxi squad.

  8. Watched the Suriname-Aruba game last night on Youtube. Streamed it on the TV from my phone. Had our game against Aruba on at the same time on the laptop. Extreme I know, but I really wanted to get a good comparison. Meanwhile, the wife was next to me bathing the newborn. Not sure how she deals with my unhealthy obsession with Canadian soccer. What an angel. Anyways, conclusion? We must be at our best. Plain and simple. No different than playing a Panama or an El Salvador. And as if we were playing those teams, I expext us to win and/or get the result.

    The Road to Qatar.

So the police can’t contain these gangs, they already attempted to hijack a bus of footballers and now we’re rolling in with a $150 million squad? Who is paying for security? Absolute joke. Move the game to the Dominican at least.

  11. I was not nervous until this morning but reality has now hit me that this would set the program back another x amount of years and selfishly I want to travel to watch les rouges play after enduring this BS for the past 1.5 years. We have the talent and confidence on our side, we just need to execute for 90 minutes. Allez les rouges allez

  12. Still very optimistic. Still think post match we'll all be wondering what the fuss was about. It's written in the stars I tell yee! Drinkers dozen (15 pack) of Moosehead on sale at the vendor AND it comes with a $5 promo code for Boston Pizza! All is right in the Canadian world!

  14. USA based ref listed for tonight... http://refereeingworld.blogspot.com/2021/06/fifa-world-cup-2022-qualifiers-concacaf_7.html I am not into the ref scouting scene, but hopefully a US/MLS official should cut down the chance of phantom fouls and spontaneous face grabbing. Also Suriname may not be up to speed on concacafing opponents yet.

  18. I know we would probably all prefer to face a minnow tonight but there are the types of high-pressure must win situations that will make us better off in the long-run (assuming we win of course). If we get to the Octagonal having defeated quality opponents like Suriname and Haiti in these crucial matches we'll be much better prepared to competition in the Octagonal

  20. I know it's too late for this type of reflection, but I would've felt slightly more confident knowing that we had a Manjrekar James or Derek Cornelius starting in CB today. I hope Scott Kennedy proves me wrong, but there is definitely something scary about the "unknown factor" in such an important match. Regardless, I am so fucking excited. Side note: has anyone found a site with betting for this match? The lines are not up on Bet365 nor SportsInteraction in Canada. Side note #2: Kudos to whoever does the videography for Canada Soccer. It really gives me pride seeing the brotherhood of the CanMNT in those behind the scenes videos.

  21. @Cheeta , there is no sex remember? The sacred vow of abstinence continues to apply to the new format. Which do you prefer: "We're all on cock-block till the Oct" or perhaps "Nothing vaginal till the Octagonal" We shall see if the curse is broken soon enough... @finchster.

Jebbo commenting on Corbeanu's Canada posts. Corbeanu didn't follow him until the Everton game, indicating no prior relationship. I don't know why everyone is so worried. All the reasoning has been said already on this forum so I won't elaborate. I'm definitely a minority with this opinion. Quick reminder that he scored a single well-positioned tap-in and that he was only playing because his team was doomed. He didn't score or assist in the next two games. He hasn't even played in the PL2, for god's sake... he's still a 17-year-old academy kid with three games under his belt. To say he has a bright future is already getting ahead of ourselves.

  27. Same here. And when I go to watch a match on TSN, I often get the result spoiled by the 'Related Video' portion. I don't understand how these providers are so clueless -- I have no idea why DAZN doesn't have an option where it asks you when you join an in progress match if you want to join live or from the start. Another pet peeve of mine is that when you watch a match on demand you can see the length of it, so if it is a KO game you know if it went to ET or not.

    Luke Singh

I think this is the third time I have said something like this, but given our future prospects and our limited centre back cohort (and the age of some of those currently involved) it would be a absolutely crazy if Singh didn’t try to get on board with the CMNT. He is 20 years old so the potential to be a core CB for us in 2026 is absolutely in play. And given his age and the level he is playing at, he could realistically leapfrog Cornelius, Dunn, Zator, and any other young(ish) CB’s currently in the mix. He would have to be nuts to close the door on all of that just to get a cap with T&T in the short term.

  32. I'm nervous AF. A young team with loads of superior talent vs. a veteran, battle hardened squad with inferior overall talent but will fight to the death. As a jaded Leafs fan, where have I heard (and seen) this before? 😬

  33. If we’re that scared about Becker we might as well pack it up and go home if we advance to the Octo because there are much better players to worry about. He is no doubt a solid player who if we play terrible can cause us many problems but if the players and tactics are working there’s no reason he cannot be shut down.

  34. Years of underachieving have jaded us fans. Look at what our A squad has done in club footballl this year. Winners. Traditionally we are always underdogs as CMNT. Not anymore, if we can’t wreck them we don’t deserve it and Herdman must go. Superstition aside, we are superior and it’s about time we carry that over. There, I said it.

  35. Oh man..now we're really losing it with a typical Canadian paranoia and inferiority complex if we're comparing Becker to Leon Bailey 😆

  36. Not necessarily Herdman or the defence, just the history of Canadian soccer disappointment, the knots are there until job done.

  40. Has just signed a 2 year deal with Hapoel Tel Aviv pending medical. Hapoel Tel Aviv finished 11th out of 14 teams this past season https://www.one.co.il/Article/385913.html As much as we may have more depth than we did before, we still don't really have true depth. Adekugbe injured in the last match with Gutiérrez not included in the squad because of injury means that we have started looking at Davies at left back or shifting Laryea from RB to LB. Assuming he is eligible and wants to play for us, I still think we should include Solomon in our extended 60-man Gold Cup squad at the very least.

  41. This can only mean one of two things: heavy betting on Canada or small amounts of betting coming in on Suriname. The fix is in! Suriname is throwing the match. Everyone can now relax.

  42. I hate that this became a one-off, anything can happen. At least we have the advantage of advancing with a tie. We'll get better every match we play from here on and pick up some experience vs the big boys, it's soo important moving forward. Just like the Haiti missed opportunity. It's exactly what CANMNT needs. Suriname have little to no pressure, they're seasoned veterans playing in a solid league who decided to honor and represent their parents/grandparents nations. They didn't even know they'd be here 1-2 years ago. To be fair, their mids and defence are just as good as anyone Larin, Cavallini, David, and Eustaquio regularly play against. I'd say Davies is probably the only guy used to playing vs tougher opposition regularly. David yes and no, he's played vs better but he's also played regularly vs lesser D's. So this isn't a lopsided matchup and we don't spectacularly overpower their defence, to think so would be naive. The mids are evenly matched. Us being a little younger with potentially more upside, however they've got a tonne more experience playing at a solid level. This is where one of Arfield and Hutch would've been key. Their forwards and wingers will be comfortable playing against our D. "Containing" their passing and runs will be a challenge for our backline. One of their guys played with Borjan, that kinda worries me too. I'm sure he'll know and pass the message to pressure Borjan every time someone passes back. Like a few said earlier, I'd feel a lot better with Davies and Laryea in the back, we need our best and most exprienced 11 on the field. Not load the front, I don't feel the field will be tilted as much as some are expecting.

  43. Our boys need to see this game as an opportunity, because the intensity that Suriname will likely bring out tomorrow is the same that our play off opponent will bring (if we take care of business tomorrow), and it will be the level that they will need to consistently play at in El Ocho if they hope to make a World Cup. The truth is that World Cup qualification proper begins for us tomorrow, this is it, if they want to hang with the big boys they need to treat tomorrow like a final, and play with the intensity and tenacity of a final. No excuses.

  45. It is actually really pathetic that they would allow this to happen there. There is a clear and obvious danger to our players and people who are willing to take hostages or highjack probably have a pretty strong incentive to try and grab a footy player that makes millions of dollars and is worth many 10s of millions to his club team.
