  1. If we lose this one it is much worse than losing to Honduras 8-1 those many years ago. Lost chance to play with big stars in the Oct and gain some exposure. Might cost us some of those dual nationals we want so much.

Not going to spend time on this as most of it is conjecture and speculation. I will tell u have a look at the stats for liam in the game(pick your poison SofaScore etc ) and look at how well he did. He got a 7.4 rating with the most dribbles and runs with the ball. Completed the most take ons and had the most touches of any of the front three in the first half and 2nd half. He was i in n almost every free kick and corner and put in two very good corners that could hve been goals for Vitoria and someone else. He had a very good half of football and was unlucky not to score He was part of most of everything Good in the first half out side the goals even though the pen was his shot The two other goals in the first half were a cross from Kaye and a pass from Tajon( a very similar goal to Theo’s that liam assisted.) For a fact most teams(pro and national teams) do game specific transition. Players are given very specific tasks and instructions and even subs coming in to effect the game and do different things to unsettle a team. I’m sure liam and Theo being different types of players where given differed briefs and tactics. I think we need to take a step back on the smash and bashing of Liam and his performance and potential. Theo came in when the other team was tiring and played with David Davies and Larin a bit different I’d say... Again Liam is always proud and feel very fortunate to pull ion the red and always gives everything and plays the way he is told too ...stand by to see what the next few weeks brings transfer wise...

  7. I have been watching match previews on YouTube and JD (iMAXit Football) has been a great resource to get up to speed on Suriname. He's obviously in favor of Suriname, being a Jamaican living in the Netherlands, and he tries to be fair in my estimation, but I can't shake off the feeling he's underestimating our less-celebrated players. For example, he seemed to be only marginally aware of Buchanan about a week ago, but as things progressed and the Aruba game came and went, he now seems to drop his name a little more. Here's another example, in a combined starting 11 video he did with Josh over at JJD TV (another good channel on YouTube btw - wonder if he posts here), he ranked Dankerlui over Laryea in terms of right backs, without question. Now to be fair, Dankerlui from the little I have seen is a solid, modern, technical fullback, who is playing in the Eredivisie, but Laryea has double his transfer value (both are similar in age). I realize transfermarkt is not everything, but a less biased eye would call it a coin flip. I would like to think so, anyways. Maybe I am just biased though for Laryea. And all that said, there is a legitimate case for Johnston over Laryea anyways at right back, who JD over at iMAXit Football has not mentioned once, and I have watched hours of this guy's content at this stage. It is this kind of ignorance about our players (not trying to be mean when I say that) that gives me hope that we handle Suriname tomorrow. Although he admits we are slight favorites, JD thinks it's going to be 2-1 Suriname. This is on the basis that we are a team of average players with 3/4 stars, while they are a well balanced team of veteran players who are schooled in the same Dutch fashion, and since it's a team game the Suriname collective may just win out. But in my mind our average players (MLS) are at least comparable to their average players (Eredivisie/Europe), but to him (and perhaps Suriname fans) Eredivisie>MLS so therefore Suriname's collective is superior, and I just don't buy that. We have a DP striker coming off the bench for gods sake. Maybe I am just biased, but I am trying to be fair and those are my thoughts around it.

    CPL General

Company name Co-Gaming Ltd. Address: Spinola Park, Level 3, Triq Mikiel Ang Borg, St Julians, SPK 1000, Malta Licences: MGA/B2C/178/2009 They say this is a legit, recognized platform based in Malta, the MGA is supposedly an indication of validity. I see they have a lot of gaming options as well as betting. I don't bet on sports as I actually like sports a lot more than losing money, which is what the vast majority of those betting do. I frankly find it pathetic that you could actually bet on the results of a sport you like. What sort of pleasure can you get from hoping for anything but the result you want as a fan? And why would being a fan not be enough to enjoy the game? I'll add another opinion: as long as we have players at a subsistence or below wage in CPL, we are seriously exposed to fraudlent behaviour. By we I mean the players. I am not making this up: lower league and semi-pro players from all over the world have been found cheating. We need to bolster salary structure at CPL, as well as prize money (!!!) for trophies, results, to shield our league from this risk.

Millar was fine, everyone needs to relax. He looked dangerous, made some good runs, forced a good save with one shot, caused a pen with another. Some of his stuff didn't come off but he played well.

  11. I still think Kennedy and Doneil will be the starting CBs. Not only are they the only two who have been regularly playing at a decent level (Sturring doesn’t count here) but it lines up with everything that we’re hearing how the squad was split up in two with one focused on Aruba and one on Suriname edit: I also think there is the slim possibility of playing a back 3 with Vitoria in the middle, Kennedy on the left and Henry on the right.

I know some here are superstitious. But with the news of NHL teams being allowed to travel to Canada. If we win our Group, what are the chances we could host Haiti or Nicaragua at home? I hope the CSA is working in the background to make that happen.

  19. I have some big concerns about the CB situation. I just like the idea of having a familiar pairing in there. I would have preferred the first choice pairing starting against both Aruba and Surinam, and if an injury happens, then it's next man up. It just seems like too big a focus on squad rotation in an area of the pitch where there are some serious question marks for such a crucial one off match.

The friendlies request may be not possible if the boys do the job which is getting to the Ocho. The only possibility for friendlies past then is June 2022. So no, I don’t want any friendlies soon.

  22. I was a bit worried about Kennedy's first game being against Suriname but I remember that Besler and Gonzalez got thrown to the wolves when they had to start together for the first time (I think it was at least Besler's first cap) against Mexico at Azteca and they were amazing and helped get a 0-0 draw. They ended up being the US' best duo going into 2014. I have hopes the Kennedy will step up, as he has so far in his club career.

  26. I don't go to the MLS website that much anymore, but I just went there to see whatever they had on last night's game. I couldn't find ANYTHING on it. I don't think it is just the new format, I think maybe they haven't posted any articles at all about the game. Is that possible? Or is their website just too horendous now to be able to find it? I went to News, and eventually was able to find a "More" button and went back a couple pages that seemed to be from back when MLS games were still being played (no dates on the links though). I just went back to make sure I wasn't crazy. I ended up using Search and found this article, from before the game. It's the only thing from June I can find related to Canada (not counting a Tajon article about interest from Europe). https://www.mlssoccer.com/news/how-canada-can-make-the-final-round-of-concacaf-world-cup-qualifying The home page is absolutely plastered with Nations League stuff of course.

I also agree, I am seeing Herdman lining us up well, giving the right assignments, and for once his coaching is matching his rhetoric. Which I am also liking lately, more than ever. Yesterday he played Liam in the way he is used to playing lately, although Charlton shifted him a bit that was his main role. He crossed right, got to the endline at least once with a left footer, turned in. Did not abuse his shot but looked to combine. He is also disciplined defending. Liam is one of our players who gives us exactly what you'd expect, he does not let us down, he just needs to keep developing and add pieces to his game.

Have u never heard of an unbalanced 433? Or strong side tactics? I guess they never taught them from your armchair. Playing one side high and wide and another inside with an overlapping fullback is actually pretty common(contes Chelsea comes to mind) and from the look of it that’s how they played first half yesterday with hoilett tucking in and Tajon overlapping and on the other side liam high and wide and Sam underlapping ... Aruba parked the bus and tactic are important to break them down with triangles and interchanges liam Sam and spooney all moving the ball well and tried to break them down. Kaye was the link on the other side driving beyond hoilett leading to the first goal. These are advanced tactics... I was really quite impressed with Herdman’s set up last night ... im done 12 am here!!

  29. From all reports the coaching staff and players are prepared and up to the task. There is respect for our opponents but not fear. They have Becker...we have Davies, David & Larin. It's been almost 2 years and 18 months since our loss to Haiti and USA away respectively. Our players have matured and grown, winning a lot of silverware in Europe this year..with some big game pressure experience. Time to get behind our coach and players.

As someone who watches a lot of Scandianvian footy: it's a step down in league but a step up in club, generally speaking (assuming he starts) considering the regular UCL/UEL. League is certainly less competitive overall with Ferencvaros being a big fish in a small pond. Interestingly, an ex-Eliteserien player and Norwegian international (Tokmac Nguen) might as well be the MVP in the Nöi NB I.

  37. I assume we will put the "Suriname" team out for the first leg, then since we will be up by 4 or 5 goals after that match we can play the "Aruba" squad in the final leg. At least that's what I'm hoping will happen.

    Tajon Buchanan

I don't know about the rest of you, but I like Tajon better last game than with the Olympic team. In the former tournament he nailed his goals and then played selfishly, with a weak tactical acumen. The other day he was better. Mind you, I am not sure our u-23 rivals were worse than Aruba, probably not.

As spitfire said, this is pretty standard to have the 2 sides attacking in different ways. Not only are Millar and Hoilett different styles of players, so are Buchanan and Adekugbe. We’d be crazy to not have Hoilett tuck in to let Buchanan overlap, since the attacking side of the game is Buchanan’s strength. Then on the other side, Millar stayed wide while Adekugbe came inside or stayed more defensive. It all seems like a pretty logical plan based on the players involved. I do agree that Corbeanu has shown very well and may take some of Millar’s minutes, but that’s fine. It’ll be a very good battle for many years between them and others, and that’s a positive for our national team. Millar and all the players just need to find their role in the team and continue to do what is asked of them.

  43. I would guess that Herdman did this knowing our B team could handle Aruba and then the top team would be ready for Suriname and the games that follow. I would think there will be a few tweaks due to knocks and tired legs as necessary, but hopefully our studs will be playing the 270 minutes of their national lives and getting us to the Ocho.
    4 points
  44. The problem is simply that you can't keep Alphonso back and not ask him to attack. Vs the US in that second game he was a disaster, quite frankly, as he flew out of position and left us exposed. So don't even bother, that is the way I see it. Let the guys on the back line stay back, with no added pressure to attack, and let the attackers do their business without having to be the ones holding down a defensive position.

  46. Yeah my bad. Going forward at this point y’all can assume that every dual (Akinola, Singh, Dias, Flores, Jebbison) is in contact or being asked to come to most things. Doesn’t mean they’ll accept. The ones playing/ones at higher lest/best form are the most likely to have been asked/rejected if they aren’t there. i.e if Flores can’t crack Arsenal U-23 for example, odds are they’re talking but won’t call him for a WCQ in the fall, if Jebbison lights up the Champ, you’d best believe they’re doing everything to recruit him and that he’s always getting a call. What I can say/know, is partly common knowledge that playing is key to a call, and higher the level/the better. They are aware of duals, and want them. If he’s not there it’s likely that he said no, he being X Y or Z dual.
