Wolves are currently 12th with 7 matches remaining. They're 12 points above the relegation zone and 11 points behind what could potentially be the last Europa League spot. Suffice it to say, they're not playing for anything more than prize money based on Premier League placings at this point. They'd be silly not to give some of their promising young players a look in the remaining games.

Still scoring and putting in great performances for the reserves plus a hugely successful international debut and follow up match. Fingers crossed the break through will come in these last few games.

  4. Found this in an article in the Athletic from early March about Bayern signing Omar Richards and it really is impressive. Davies is having a different season, not a worse one than last year and I think this even more impressive than if he had similar stats to last year as he's been able to seamlessly adjust to a more defensive/safe role without a drop in performance.

Not going to cheer for an injury (and not implying you are) but this is the sort of chance you really hope he takes. Sometimes a shot like this is all you need. Get a couple of sub appearances and make an impact to start proving you have what it takes for first team footy. Good luck to him.

  8. Some important new info: 1. Vegas will indeed host the final. ----- 2. Unlike the format of two years ago, Group B (our group) will cross over with Group C. This change was to be expected as this avoids a USA vs Mexico matchup before the semi-finals. Assuming we can get past both Martinique and Haiti (or maybe Bermuda, St. Vincent & the Gs or Barbados) we would play one of Costa Rica / Jamaica / Suriname / Guatemala ( or maybe Guyana / Guadeloupe / Bahamas). Getting a draw vs the USA + an overall better goal difference in the group, or, getting a win vs the

  12. I always imagined he'd come to TFC and play under Vanney, who was crying for a winger at the tail end of his tenure, but I am not sure Hoilett fits the mold of what Armas wants, unless you want to bring him in off the bench to finish off games, which I am not convinced will be of interest to Junior at this stage of his career. A move to another Championship team is most likely. Outside of that, perhaps one of Celtic or Rangers could use his services. That would give him a chance at European football as well, something he hasn't experienced. Or if he wants to try something entirely differe

It’s definitely a bit of both (being better and playing weak opponents more often). Not only are our strikers/wingers better, but our midfield is more creative and better at breaking down a bunkering opponent.

Reading the Wolves forum (Molineux Mix) they seem to all agree that Corbeanu should at least be on the bench the rest of the season and given a chance since Neto is out. Guess we will have to see what Nuno does.

  16. I don’t know how many times I need to watch him for Bayern, or the Canada. He is not a fullback. Hasn’t played it his whole career until Bayern, and it shows. At best, he’s a wingback. He’s not a very good defender. He just relies on his speed. Doesn’t pick up his man well in the box, and the angles he takes to defend are weird. And that completely understandable, with how long he’s learned this position. But, he’s not being fully utilized. He has so much to bring to an attack, but doesn’t get to on that team. He needs to be freed.

  17. Not a great game but it happens. It's not like he directly cost them tonight, though he easily could have if Neymar finished that breakaway. I do think Di Maria exposes his weaknesses defensively. Phonzie can't be beaten for pace but he can for guile as Di Maria repeatedly did today and as he did a few times in the Lisbon final. Something to keep an eye on Edit: to add, he wasn't the only BM player that got outplayed by Di Maria and Neymar so not a great game from him but not awful either

  18. During the #CanWNT match today on OneSoccer, there were was an advert where they mention they will broadcast the Aruba match. I suppose they made a deal with Aruba where they will broadcast the match and retransmit it as they did for (EDIT) The Cayman Islands. (Technically, they needed to make a deal with Aruba, as they are the host nation; glad that they did!) This means OneSoccer will have both matches.

Exactly this. If that was a World Cup winning goal, no one would even remotely care that it took a deflection. A goal is a goal is a goal. That said, I think there was an element of luck to the goal because of the deflection but David has had a lot of rotten luck this season so it's about time some luck went his way.

  24. I personally don’t think it takes anything away from the goal. Who cares if it wasn’t as pretty as it could have been? I doubt there is a single Lille fan who celebrated the goal any less. Did anyone celebrate Davies’ goal vs the US any less because it didn’t look pretty? No chance. Edit: this isn’t directed specifically to you, Obinna. I realize you weren’t implying it did take away from the goal. I just happened to quote you to make the point.

    Covid talk

Below is an interesting article on "Global Financing to End the Pandemic", which for me really highlights the confluence of financial and pharmaceutical interests with respect to lockdowns. This is basically the sales pitch from the G20 and IMF for creating an extra layer of fiat currency (SDRs) that will "start the path of investment-lead recovery", which of course is code for "re-inflate the flawed debt-based financial system that our lockdowns pushed over the edge". Instead of letting the system naturally crash in a deflationary implosion, the pandemic provides them with the perfect co

I don't know if we really fully appreciated what David did against Paris. Never mind the fact that he was injured while doing so, but he scored against one of the best keepers in the world in a team with two of the biggest and most expensive players in the world, in one of the most important games of the season. Doing that at age 21 just shows that he really is the Iceman and that he can score in any game against any opponent. We should qualify for 2022 and if we do, I expect David to be scoring in Qatar. He's proven that he can score against basically anyone, on any stage. Finally, we have a

  33. I will open with the sentiment that I am a huge Davies fan. I am rooting for him 100%. But I have previously questioned some of his defensive capabilities and I think he is getting beaten in this game. Mind you, it is arguably against the best attacking lineup of any current club team in the world right now - but the fact remains that they are getting past him with a fair degree of regularity. Bayern may be leading this game but they are lucky to not be down by a couple of goals - and two golden chances came from Neymar being wide open on the left side.

  35. I won't be able to watch this one live, just like the last one. Any idea if the replay will be put on youtube like the last one instead of on OneSoccer? It annoyed me last time. I checked OneSoccer several times a day until I eventually found it on Sunday on youtube, but of course there was another video on their youtube channel that spoiled the score for me. I wish all replays would be available on OneSoccer, even if they are also available on Youtube.

Cenk Tosun came out injured during Sunday's game. It's being reported as a patellar tendon rupture. He's already had surgery in Turkey and is returning to England for further evaluation. Based on a quick search it sounds like the recovery period could be up to six months. I wonder how this will impact the potential Larin for Tosun swap if it was ever in the works.

I will take this one further, where soccer is sport people in the his actually know about, Rugby League is one that had very little if any presence in this country. The Toronto Wolfpack showed that if you make it a fun afternoon/evening out, people will come regardless of how much or little they actually know about the team and/or sport. They hit the mark and over time the crowds grew to where Lamport at around 10K was bursting at the seems. The beer garden with a great craft section did not hurt either. So the right operator with a good strategy can do well by getting out even the most casual

  50. Not trying to be argumentative but I don’t think any (or at least hardly any) of those results came from us underestimating anyone. I think they are examples of where we played poorly or lacked the creativity to break down bunkering defences. But that is different than disrespecting teams or writing them off prematurely. It isn’t like we left important players home or started hot-dogging because we thought we were hugely superior. I think we have just had a number games where we didn’t do the job against much lower ranked teams. I am hoping those days are behind us.
