  3. That's the official account from the police and CP eye witnesses. But please do enlighten us with the account from the ultra-reliable Chilean press where I'm sure the players did nothing wrong and the police went on an unprovoked malicious attacking spree on a team of athletes at a major sporting event. Totally plausible. Even though they had to be physically restrained from attacking the referee minutes earlier at the end of the game, I'm sure they had calmed down to a very peaceful state and were totally innocent victims.

With Bradley being moved further up the field and Armas' emphasis on pressing, Priso seems like the only destroyer-like no. 6 player in the team especially with the Tyler Adams comparison. I wouldn't be surprised if he started or was close to starting many games this season. Looking forward to Wednesday.

Worth a watch to hear the inside scoop on where things are heading with the CFL from a TSN journalist (he describes how he is the last of the legacy sports media dinosaurs in age cohort terms and manages to work in the obligatory shot at soccer along the way) who covers the league: The irony level of the league CanPL was supposed to be emulating in nationalism terms merging with an American league and ditching Canadian rules on three downs etc would be off the scale, but he makes a convincing case that three of nine CFL franchises are not viable moving forward under the c

OK, you have repeated it and didn't address deschamp86's comment. I assume you don't think it would be OK for the team to average less than 10 people attending a game right? So you are talking about averaging between 2000 and 3000 people per game? So you literally think it is possible for them to average 33% to 50% of the entire population to come out to games? I'm pretty certain that would be unprecedented in the world of sports. No doubt North Bay loves hockey, in 2019 they were getting just over 2000 fans per game to their OHL games, and that's a town that has 51k people to draw from, compa

He's back, and he played the full 90 today! Didn't see this time, but he was solid apparently. A win would've been great, but Regensburg settled for a draw and remain in the relegation battle. Werder Bremen game is next week, and Nachreiner might be back, so we'll see whether he's stolen that starting spot.

Not gonna lie, I'm just kind of stoked that we are now in a position where we are arguing whether or not a guy starting for a team in the Israeli Premier League is good enough to play for Canada. I still remember the days of 15-20 years ago when we had a handful of guys playing in decent leagues otherwise our entire team was made up of guys playing at the level of USL Championship or the lowest level of the English/Scottish leagues. We are now in a position where we argue which European league is good enough for us to consider players playing there.

How will ending the Canadian player quota in a merged league help "smooth the path" to an eventual NFL team in the GTA? I doubt the CFL's player quota has any effect one way or another on whether the GTA gets a NFL franchise.

@El Hombre While you mull over that last post, here is a US example to give you an idea of the scale of money printing we are talking about: 21% of all the US dollars that have ever been created, in the history of the world, were created in 2020. I don't know the exact stat for Canada, but I recall hearing that we are creating money at a faster rate than the Americans are.

GA deals are only for players that are top underclassmen as voted on by all MLS teams prior to the draft. Players from within MLS academies are ineligible. He's from TFC's academy, therefore the only deal he can sign is a Homegrown. If Toronto doesn't want him, they can trade his HG rights to another team or make him wait until he's exhausted his 4 years of eligibility and try his luck in the draft... if its still around by then.

That’s mostly correct. However, its an ongoing thing, not something that happened. It is very much in motion. Also, I would put it more like “prolonged shutdowns are providing an extended opportunity to inject extra dollars into the system via stimulus cheques”, rather than “we need shutdowns to manage this”, but certainly close enough! Yes it is a difficult cycle to get out of. Many feel that deflation will win out in the end, so the sooner we stop kicking the can down the road with inflation, the less painful it will be, but it’s human nature to kick the can down the road, and nobody wa

Okay, so I think I get your main thesis. Let me know where I went wrong: Shutdowns were instituted to stop the spread of Covid-19, however this caused deflation which the government fought by injecting more money into the system. This injection of money has the potential to cause too much inflation, which means that we need more shutdowns to manage this. Is that it? Seems like a cycle that will be difficult to get out of. I have another question about what you wrote above, but I don't want to confuse the issue.

Just a couple of quick points, it was Belgium youth teams that all decided to adopt the senior system (4-3-3)? Well I couldnt tell you what our national team system is..do we have one?? And CPL is a pro league, I dont know how you could get them all to play the same system, its not like academy teams that have only one job.. to funnel kids to the senior side.

You don't even need to buy Gold. Lumber has tripled in the last 6 months. Copper has more than doubled. It's basically the same for all commodities. Prices have inflated because more dollars have been created. Let me first lay the foundation: We have a global debt problem. The system naturally wants to deflate, but central banks everywhere (including the Bank of Canada) want/need to inflate to avoid deflation, which would be disastrous for inflated assets such as Real Estate, Stocks, etc. Governments do not want deflation because they benefit from high asset prices. Inflation is

Just my personal opinion, but if they focused on the actual shutdowns and not masks they would have more support. Travel restrictions, business shutdowns, interrupted school years, these are things everyone wants to stop. Those are real freedoms that are being taken away and really hurting people. Wearing a mask for 20min while you walk around Sobeys is barely a inconvenience, and complaining about it makes people look like selfish babies. When that becomes a focal point for "freedom movement" people I stop listening. How do we protect elderly/vulnerable segments of the population while e

He is outspoken and at the same time loyal to the city and fans to the point that it clouds the business realities of player and club realtionships. Given his personality, i hope his next move is to a Liga Mx team and not another MLS team.

Certainly, this notoriety for OneSoccer, which may not be so well known in the States, is great for them. It takes them out of the shadows. I have no idea who is right between Jozy and Taylor; the former does get his back up with not just US journalists but fans too, he once even seemed to argue it was because he was Jehova's Witness, didn't he? All this plays out well for certain players who may be deciding between the US and Canadian national team and who feel strongly enough about questions of race to take a knee for a national anthem. Won't say who but I am not off topic for thi

As far as I can tell, yes. The chronology appears to be: Onesoccer does a segment about whether Twellman's condemnation of US failure to qualify for Olympics is fair, then tweets a link to the segment quoting Twellman's "pathetic and laughable" description of their campaign. Altidore responds to the Onesoccer tweet by saying that Twellman's national team career was what was pathetic and laughable, implying that he's only got a high profile commentary gig because he is white & has connections and it should be going to DaMarcus Beasly or Mia Hamm, neither of who are white men of
