  3. Here’s the 20 man list I came up with: Goalies: St Clair, Breza, Hasal Full backs: Bassong, ZBG, Gutierrez CBs: Cornelius, Sturing, Dunn CMs: Baldisimo, Fraser, Okello, H.Paton Wingers: Nelson, Buchanan, Corbeanu, Tabla Forward/CAM: Bair, Brym, Dias it’s tough to pick a 20 man squad, deciding what positions we have to leave a little thin or what talented player we have to leave out. In this case I tried to make sure all of our strongest players are present. It sucks having to leave the likes of Rutty, Priso or Farsi off

The floodgates are about to burst open. Dos Santos said nothing had changed and we got lucky, but the talk around MLS is that our academies produce some serious talents. Rollins said that when Roma came over for youth tourneys they were impressed by the raw talent, that’s a nice compliment. TFC and CF are full of young players, VWFC isn’t empty and those academy centers will bear fruit. Add in the Can PL, Athletico who believe me will find a player or 5, the Sigmas boys and the Belgium connections, and now Bayern is going to look for another Davies. it’s going to keep happening, we’

I had the opposite impression, that this is a secondary priority vs. winning the league. Other regular starters like Fonte & Andre are also being rested.

From an outsider that seems like an awful lot of hype for a kid with 30 professional minutes under his belt. Is it deserved?

  8. It’s crazy seeing Brym not on some lists. Imo he was the best attacker at the January camp in 2020. Out performing most of his peers on the 50man.

    Milan Borjan

Red Star really should've won that. Controversial no goal early on, and they missed 2 open nets in succession. Still impressive to pull off a 3-3 aggregate against Milan though. Borjan made a good save in the first half, and managed to draw a yellow on Zlatan lol. Good distribution throughout.

The Feds refusing to compensate Quebec share of its initial funding This looks like a wrap for Montreal unless private money covers the province share Alberta had talks with Edmonton but no final decision yet City of Toronto all in, no renegotiation of the original deal between all parties have been brought up. On the bench against Ajax with Weah and Yazici starting up front. I wish this was him being rested but I think they are still hoping for success in Europe so it is probably just Galtier trying a new combo.

  16. Yes and no, I’m not sure there’s many 2004’s who have played. The reality is that Vanney was heavily criticized for now playing some of the highly rated players, and the club lost and will lose easily 20M$ if this continues. Rutty is on a similar level as Davies was at 15, and is considered by many to be the best 2004 in North America, Gabriel Pellogrino is another Canadian who is giving him a run for his money. If Rutty plays and does well, he will be sold for Davies money easily. Nelsen isn’t as rated but could go for a similar fee as Aaronson while Okello had a

  18. Great team list... My only change would be if Patons not available, Priso would get bumped into that squad. I think what hasn’t been mentioned, is that Nelson was playing in a number 10 role in the scrimmages. I think we might seem him there.

  19. I don’t think it’s crazy to be excited about our team and also be a bit worried about Suriname. I think we are the better team but they are close enough that given a couple breaks, they could beat us. It’s similar to when we play USA/Mexico in the future. They’ll probably be the better team, but we’ve gotten to the point that we can give them a real game and maybe take points off them if we’re fortunate. Upsets happen, and that’s always going to be nerve racking for the favourites.

  21. Just look at the pandemic response. It should have been handle by Ottawa with the military deployed and provincial health ministries taking orders. Trudeau, minority government = "I don't want to piss off provinces" Then you let the provinces run the show with noticeable disparities. This country can be very frustrating. We'll never have a VISION as a nation. It only takes 1 province to kill any national project unless you waste time and money to go to court every FN time. Talk about wasted potential. We are this world's 10th biggest economy and we're not even close to look

  22. Just in terms of purely being a prospect at around this age, I think that JMR is clearly the highest touted one TFC has ever produced, and Nelson is clearly second with maybe Akinola there in the second tier. Jay Chapman only spent a couple years at the academy before going the NCAA route, but I would put him in the third tier if we were to include him. Okello and Dunn could go bottom of the second tier. Rocco Romeo below them. Ralph Priso I don't know, maybe between Okello and Romeo, but he progressed really quickly. All the opinions of these guys are from perception, not my own scouting.

I think this gets said every year about the crop coming through. I'm hopeful that Marshall-Rutty turns into something special, but I think there are even odds on the rest. I do not have @Dominic94's boundless optimism that Nelsen, Priso, Okello etc. will be sold for big dollar figures to top teams overseas. If they turn out to be Osorios, that's great. I've just witnessed far too many Alemans, Aparicios and Petrassos to get too far ahead of myself.

  24. Toronto is the only city for which the provincial government has not withdrawn its financing. The previous Liberal government had said yes. I'm don't know how it works in Alberta but the NDP must have gave support to Edmonton prior to Kenney taking over. They haven't said "No" yet but not "yes" either. The previous Quebec Liberal government had said yes but the anti-Montreal, blackmailing conservative government of Francois Legault pulled out of the previous deal. He has an history of doing this to try and force Ottawa to pay their share (most recent example) is the train station at

This tie is over and I’m astonished how Lille are first place in that farmers league. They can’t muster any offence at all and are making Ajax looking like defensive juggernaut. Ikone needs to work on his finishing if he wants to score more goals if not he should just pass up the ball to a better finisher . He just shoots on site

  36. I think Flick would have wanted Davies decapitated if, instead of keeping his team in possession with a 4-1 lead on the road in the first leg of a knockout round, a tired Davies was trying to be risky and daring with the ball very late. He also helped to set up/cause two road goals for his team and was the only defender not at fault for their one goal against, I'm not sure that we can be too disappointed because near the end of the match he wasn't trying to be risky and potentially gift back Lazio into the tie.

  37. Playing Davies at LB to negate Bermuda's counter makes sense but then he has to focus on defense. One can't expect him to attack/overlap down the flank like he does at Bayern. Teams that counter are good at exploiting the space vacated by an attacking FB...see Haiti/Jamaica in GC and then we have Vitoria 1v1. We would have to be prepared to sacrifice the offensive contribution of Davies.

  40. I dont like the fact that the league is paying peanuts anymore than the next guy. I suspect there plan was always to be prudent and get through year 1 and build from there. And then a global pandemic hit and last year they had no fans (ie. no real revenue) and this year is likely to be some of the same. I get how that is challenging for the players and as we have seen, some have left the game which is very unfortunate. But expecting them to raise wages (even by putting in a floor) is unwise at this moment in my view as frankly, their focus needs to be on survival during this period. Hope

I think Herdman is going to play Johnston at RB and shift Laryea to the left. I think that's why Johnston is missing from the Olympic roster. If Johnston struggles (unlikely) or gets injured we'll see Adekugbe on the left and Laryea on the right. So here's how I see RB right now: Johnston (Laryea) Brault-Guillard Everyone else

its not just that. Just the way he carries and asserts himself on the field, and the fact he was able to overcome such an injury and come back from it stronger than before says A LOT about his character. I honestly view him as a Canadian version of an in prime Michael Bradley, the guy also has an engine. We focus on guys like Davies, Davies, Millar, i.e. the flashy players, but I believe Eustaquio's injection into the line up is the one that would provide the biggest boost in quality and structure in midfield, providing a sort of "connective tissue" and outlet. I honestly love watching him pla
