We could do something like this: -----------Cavallini------------ Hoilett------David-------Larin -------Arfield--Eustaquio----- Davies-Cornelius-Vitoria-Laryea -----------Borjan---------------- I'm not a massive fan of Davies at LB for Canada but if we're playing a side we're trying to break down in the first round this could be a great lineup. Tempted to even put Hutchinson at CB in this one.

I wonder how many of these people arguing, "but Cavallini cuz his goals for Canada," were arguing for anyone but Ricketts not too long ago?

Wolves play Palace in the FA Cup tomorrow, if there was a time to rest players and put in young players, this may be it. Hopefully he can at least make a sub appearance and then maybe go out in loan afterwards.

This. Not sure why anyone would want him to move if he's clicking at Besiktas, a pretty damn good club on its own right. Hell there was a time not long ago when having Atiba starting for them was the epitome of Canadian talent, and now Larin has managed the same.

We can consider him a Liverpool player currently on loan at Charlton. Based on the skill level of the individual players, a lot of the play in PL2 is superior to what Liam's going to experience in League One. However, he's going to have to adjust to intensity and aggression levels in League One that will be beyond anything he's seen in PL2. In that regard, a year in the SPL with Kilmarnock will be invaluable experience for him to call on over the next 5 months. I expect that Liam will do very well at the Valley. If he can play in 20+ league games and score a few and assist a few, I'd be lookin

Big props to Larin, who seems to have worked his tail off ever since his loan in Belgium. He looks a more complete player now, putting in more effort and being rewarded. He has always had the tools and was a good finisher, but now is a more rounded player who can play anywhere in attack. Keep it up Cyle!

  11. I say this because you and others keep putting Cavallini in your starting 11 for March when, I am 95% sure he is suspended for the big game against Bermuda (I mean, by all means put Cavallini in the starting spot vs the Cayman Islands but anybody should be able to get the job done against them - it's the Cayman Islands). I would personally call Tyler Pasher (to see what he can do) or Tosaint Ricketts (one last time) to play striker for the Cayman Islands game so David can go to the U24s. But that's just me.

We need our best 11 on the field, we just pull the old 0-4-6. Borjan just needs to make saves and hoof it up. Davies - Hoilett - Cavallini - Larin - David - Laryea .................Eustaquio - Hutch - Arfield - Kaye ..............................................Borjan

I can’t see us sending David to U23 qualifying, especially when we have WCQ at the same time. Hopefully if we make Olympics, David will be there, but it seems really unlikely he’d be allowed to go to qualifying.

The irony is strong here. Cavallini suffered all season from lack of a supporting cast, which is the only reason people are writing him off because otherwise he’s been great for Canada and at club level. Larin just had possibly the greatest game from a Canadian ever in a European top flight. But let’s also recognize that most, if not all, of his goals this year have come from great service (or today defensive lapses). If Cavallini were on Besiktas I have no doubt he would also have a bunch of goals. The argument between the two may be moot anyhow if Herdman wants to play La

  19. The current CanMNT lineup lives rent-free in my brain on a daily basis. I know going to back 3 has been mentioned before and I always felt we didn't have the talent to play that amount of centre backs before 2020. I think I'm warming to it now if either Vitoria or Hutch are playing in the middle. If the Gold Cup and the recent Canada/US game are any indication, I don't think Hutch and Vitoria work well in a 2 due to their certain defending deficiencies. Specifically Hutch and his lack of body position, and Vitoria and his lack of pace. However, with the emergence of Kennedy, Miller (in h

It's an interesting move. Unlike some of the other leagues, this might expand the OneSoccer viewership base. Let's face it, showing Lille with David was interesting for the die hard Canada soccer fans, but they're the ones already subscribing to the service.

When building up an attack, Lille's fullbacks are expected to take up position high and wide. They essentially take up the position of where the wingers would typically be. The wingers (usually Bamba and Ikone) don't stay wide, they come inside and take up a central position. The intention is for the center backs to either a) split the lines and find Bamba/Ikone inside, or b) play an angled pass to the fullbacks high and wide. This is how they typically get into the middle third. Most importantly, this is why Ikone and Bamba get so much of the ball. This is an intentional patterns of play

Don't think there is any need for talk of moving elsewhere. He seems to have found his feet in a solid top flight league. Give him another year at least. It is obviously starting to work for him there and keeping that form is what matters most to him and us this year.

That's largely the reason why I'm pessimistic about Lille actually achieving anything this season. If they can hang onto a Champions League place, even if it involves a qualifying round, it'll be a massive success for what is, truthfully, a painfully average side.

I think a lot of people are still thinking of him as a Liverpool player, hence the Davies/David talk. I think it’s best to set expectations and consider him a Charlton player (assuming he gets playing time) in D3 England. We shouldn’t expect him to score a couple game winners on the way to promotion and then walk into the Liverpool first team. Best of luck to him though. I like the move and hope he can thrive at Charlton!

There were some calamitous defensive errors but I don’t think it was fixed. On the goal where it looked like a mini collision between the keeper and the defender, Larin actually gets around the defender to poke it away from both of them and then lash it in while fallling. The skewed defensive shot that fell kindly for Larin to trim with would be impossible to replicate. The last goal (not Larin) was a screamer that just smashed the underside of the bar. Etc. I chalk it up to some great finishing by Larin and some bad defensive lapses - but I won’t devalue his accomplishment by su

It wasn't a poor pass. He played it right to his teammate and continued his run to receive the return ball. It's not his fault that the teammate stood like a statue while an opponent walked in and stole possession. It's also not David's fault that his other teammate shanked the clearance to an opposition player standing by himself at the top of the 'D', nor that 3 defenders let him shoot cleanly and that the 'keeper decided not to move his feet and even attempt a save. Frankly, Lille is a shit team. They have managed to have an unbelievable first half of the season in both the league and

In Marcelo's case he hasn't declared for any nation, so if he appears in a WCQ for Canada or Mexico...he can still file a one time switch. In Yankovs case, he is

Fleming: handed a huge opportunity in the 3-0 victory over Benfica in the Champions League on Dec. 15. She completed 34 of 38 passes, two dribbles, five interceptions and six recoveries.
