Belal Halbouni got asked to go the Canadian National team camp this Jan 9 -14. He is very happy to get selected and honoured. His hard work is starting to pay off and getting some recognition from his play. He has been very focused and eager to show his talents. He is very excited.

  7. Davies looked solid throughout the entire match. Very lively and hardly put a foot wrong. Had a small moment of lack of concentration near the end there when he was pretty lackadaisical against Diaby who got by him too easily and Bayer almost converted. Other than that, really liked his game.

Larin David Arfield Davies Hutchison Laryea Eustaquio Kennedy Victoria Cornelius Borjan 3-5-2 gets you best players on the field, and in the best positions. Davies, and Laryea are game changers, and allowing them free rains to bomb the sidelines is going to give teams fits. For me, Larin has added holding the ball up to his game, and is a decent passer. If he keeps this pace up till March, he’s in my starting 11 over Hoillett, and Cavallini. Dav

Not trying to get anyone in trouble, but it's exciting news in a time that seems like there's been no news for the CMNT. Interestingly the player I know of that was called up, has never been called up before and he is European based(Germany) and is a defender. That's all I can divulge, but kind of surprised there will be some european based players there and it looks like they've gone pretty deep into the player pool. I may not post here everytim

I made a total of 11 changes: GK- Sebastian Breza | ITA / SSD Potenza Calcio GK- Thomas Hasal | CAN / Vancouver Whitecaps FC GK- Matthew Nogueira | POR / CS Maritimo Axel Desjardins | ITA / Novara GK- James Pantemis | CAN / Impact de Montréal GK- Dayne St. Clair | USA / Minnesota United FC CB- Robert Boskovic | CAN / Toronto FC II Martin Amuz | URG | Danubio FC CB- Derek Cornelius | CAN / Vancouver Whitecaps FC

So I would expect him to explore options there before turning to the CPL. I don't see him being either a Bustos or Borges, as he just doesn't have the offensive talents they do.

Atiba can drop back to move us to a 5 in the back, Larin can shift up to partner David, Arfield can shift left to play a defensive left winger role (as he did back in his Burnley days).

Very good starting 11. Agree that Arfield is our best number 10. I would put Davies at left back and either Hoilett or Buchanan at left wing. We would be just as good defensively and have more firepower.

  21. Belal Halbouni from Werder Bremen II has just posted a screenshot of the email being sent to players for the Camp on his Instagram. In the email it confirms that the Camp is from January 9th to the 24th. Parts of the email are cut off, however it appears to confirm everything that has been mentioned on this thread regarding only having training matches against the US. I'm excited to see how deep the camp is going to be. Halbouni was just starting to get regular playing time with Werder Bremen II and it sounded like he was doing well, before the German government shut down the German fo

Atiba said in multiple interviews leading up to the 2019 Gold Cup that he was planning on retiring from international football after the tournament. https://canpl.ca/video/canada-stalwart-hutchinson-set-for-international-retirement-after-2019-gold-cup So unless he indicates otherwise - he’s probably retired from international football. Those are his words and not mine so I’m not editorializing here. That was in 2019 and our next competitive match will be in 2021 after he turns 38. To b

  26. Lively today, active holding Diaby and Bailey on his side and moving forward nicely. And in the 2nd half going forward with a lot of energy and with participation in the attack--he just drew a yellow on Bailey. I could see him scoring today. I also like that he works well with Lucas Hernández, who he has basically stopped from playing in many games. All told, Bayern not really better than Bayer and not really deserving any ore than a draw, at least so far.

  27. Yes, this was my point. Portland is exactly what you want. And you've just pointed out the flaws with BC Place and Century Link. I've never had any problems getting to Century Link, and the combination of Century Link and T-Mobile baseball stadium has build the area in to a place that really caters to the sports fan. But, the location really matters for attendance and being downtown is more conducive to that.

Huh, it seems your exhaustive, carefully considered list left out the most obvious one.. the fact the man is 37, and international travel takes its physical toll? One of the reasons he has been holding up lately is due to the lack of travelling he has had to do. How about using a bit of deductive reasoning next time before condescendingly coming off as a prick and personally attacking someone in an attempt (a poor one) to belittle their post, alright "wise one"?

Big difference between the camps and friendly games we have played (or would have played) in the last little while and the next big WCQ cycle. Anything from here on out is either a qualifying game or an absolutely mandatory part of the prep for it. Only Hutch knows for sure what he will do but I think he goes for it one more time knowing how much potential we have. That would be one helluva way to go out.

Ohh wise one, please enlighten us, what do you base this on? Do you feel he won't get a call up, due to age and a downward trend in his performance? Do you feel he won't answer the call up due to lack of interest and/or needing to manage his minutes? Do you feel CANMNT is soo vastly improved, they don't have a need for his quality and experience? Do you feel he's been passed be enough players that even if he gets a call up he won't see the field? Do you feel he lost CSA's number so they just aren't aware he retired from Intl football, and perhaps his Instagram, email,

Agreed. There is a clear difference between: "You are aware that this is against a third tier club sitting mid table and playing away to Besiktas, are you not?" and "A good contribution, but against a weak side from the third tier so there is not much we can take away from it."

There was never any doubt. He never retired from Intl football, he's just managing minutes. Frankly its quite annoying when people assume he's done with CANMNT, just pulling this shit out of their arses. Today he's still part of our best 11, regardless of if he showed up to the last camp and his age. He's done when he says he's done.

  44. Am I the only one who doesn't care about Akinola? I saw TSN hyping him up yesterday and I had to ask why? He doesn't play for us. We've got Larin, David, Cavallini, Corbeanu, Millar plus a handful of other players showing promise at a relatively young age. Mix in some multi national guys out there like the kid on Wolfsburg How many players do we want on the pitch at one time?

  45. Can't see Akinola accepting a Canadian call-up in this camp if we are playing the US. He's not going to agree to playing against the team he just suited up for a month prior. If he's really undecided he could refuse both call ups but my prediction is that he'll be training with the Americans.

And that's a reason why Bayern are a top 5 club in the world, and Lille aren't. Honestly, best case scenario for David would be for Lille to sell off Ikone and Bamba, who likely have suitors, in order to help settle their debt. Youngers guys with a lot of upswing like David and Weah, If I'm Lille I keep, because such players are investments, and you can double or triple their future transfer price if you develop them further. IMO if Lille shipped off Ikone, Bamba, and Sanches (who will likely command the highest transfer of all of Lille's player), then the team will still remain rela
