One thing I can't fault about some of our dual nationals who have played youth footy for other countries is that Canada doesn't play any damn youth games outside of tournaments. It's hilarious sometimes that Canada wants prospects to commit to the program when the program doesn't seem to exist outside of CONCACAF youth tournaments.6 points -

He looked pretty good, the way he can make up ground on the pitch and win balls in the air was very impressive. Bradley was tired as hell in his match so you can see why Vanney put on Okello for Delgado instead of Fraser - Fraser is more in the Bradley mold but Okello looks like more of a physically-superior version of Delgado (and hopefully a more skilled version as well, but we'll have to see on that front).5 points

Interesting reports that South America could start their qualifiers in Europe to ensure their players are not held up by quarantine restrictions. https://mundoalbiceleste.com/2020/07/20/south-american-world-cup-qualifiers-could-be-played-in-europe-this-year/ I won't be surprised if CONCACAF has to use a similar neutral site solution for the early rounds. International travel will likely still be a bureaucratic nightmare in the fall. Another report from Honduras. The FA president indicates qualifiers will start this year but Honduras won't join until next year.5 points -

The play that stood out most from him in that game was when he was able to get multiple blocks using his feet on successive shots inside the box. This type of play definitely shows his CB potential.4 points

https://www.laola1.at/de/red/fussball/2--liga/news/austria-klagenfurt--machtwort-in-sachen-trainer/ Article claims that : 1) That Scott Kennedy has a German passport too! 2) That he has extended his contract with Klagenfurt by two years 3) Had an offer from a 2. Bundesliga club in Germany. (I used Google Translate, please correct me here if I've misunderstood) Klagenfurt better get promoted because while turning down a German 2. Bundesliga club to play in the Austrian Football Bundesliga is logical, turning down a German 2. Bundesliga club to play in the Austrian 2. Liga w3 points -

I was impressed with his entire game. He’s fast, strong and really great in 1v1. I noticed how he affected Laryeas ability to get forward because he has to be aware of him. He gets more opportunities with NER and Millars position with the men’s team seems a lot less assured. Im actually excited to see what our U23 team will look like. So many options - which is weird to say.3 points

Herdman said in an interview taped July 2nd but shown before this morning's TFC match something along the lines that he thinks Akinola's heart is starting to turn towards Canada. Kristian Jack then said in the studio that Akinola's agent told the Canadian U20 team that Akinola was available for them but that he wasn't called, although this seemed to contradict what Herdman said about Akinola having been invited to previous U20 and MNT camps but declining for now. KJ also said Berhalter had been in touch with Akinola since the tournament began, which is hardly a surprise since Berhalter shoutin2 points

If he plays like he did today and starts putting in some goals and assists then I can't imagine him not being in our player pool selection. It was his first start in a very long time and since Arenas took over the Revolution, his minutes have been limited. Here's hoping that changes.2 points -

Playing catch up on this and on football in general after needing to worry about other things for months. Thanks everyone for the updates along the way. One of good thing to come out of all this: It rubbished the silly (in my opinion) reliance on the rankings. Would be nice if they learn a lesson from that.2 points -

That could be an option I suppose. To me Adnan doesn't play like a winger, he plays like an offensively talented fullback, but that doesn't mean he cannot be effective as a winger. Worth a try though, I guess. I also wonder whether he can play as a deep lying playmaker. He is good on the ball, he has an eye for a pass, and he is robust.2 points -
I am wondering if only Canadian viewers can see those while US viewers see cgi ads from US sponsors. I also notice that TSN doesn't block out the entire audio as much when there is swearing on the field for games that Wileman, Caldwell Schad and Dolan call.1 point

The weird thing is that I’m not even arguing about politics. It’s simply in poor taste to compare a player representing a different country to a crooked cop regardless of what’s going on in the world. The current climate makes it worse and does delve into the political spectrum, but that wasn’t my original point. But you’re right, let’s move on. On topic: Akinola’s finishing was subpar today, but his movement got him into positions that he wasn’t getting into a year ago.1 point

I find this CGI advertising behind the goals fairly disconcerting. A cleared ball off a corner suddenly disappears then reappears while on one play during the Caps/SJ game In-beom briefly became part of the Captain Morgan logo: what's Korean for "Aaarrrr!" I wonder? 😉1 point

To be fair, TFC started at 9 am one day, 8 PM three days later, and 9 am again 3 days after that. Playing 3 games in seven days is hard enough, without the start times. I've worked jobs like that (8 AM start one day, 3 PM the next, etc). Within a week you're working through fatigue, even if you're awake. He might be a little tired. It did look like all of the starters were fading after halftime.1 point -

The US system plays way more games, has more opportunities, more camps and more money to do these things. To me it would be a no brainer professionally and to personally develop your game to play for them. He has said he is was in no rush to choose who to represent in his senior career and why should he be really. He's in a great position playing for the US youth system1 point

This is where I am at right now. Cornelius perhaps a little short on confidence, being out of the starting line up and all. At the same time, it seems like Khmiri keeps getting chances when they are perhaps undeserved. If that is because they want to give their new signing a chance to succeed, I get it. Regardless, I hope the bolded part of Ivan's statement is something we can all agree on. Side note: The Serbian kid is pretty good. Shows a lot of composure when put under pressure. Came up with some good defensive plays. There is a lot to like.1 point

Besiktas having a bad season has been a bit overblown. They actually have a pretty good shot at qualifying for Champions League next year. With 5 games left they are 3 points out of 3rd, which is likely the highest they can get. However, Trabzonspor have been banned from European competitions next season so 3rd place will qualify for Champions League. Even where Besiktas are now they will qualify for Europa.1 point
