it was nice to see Tabla actually having a decent game for Montreal hopefully this is a start of something4 points

The Canadians made a case for more playing time for sure. Tabla looked more dangerous than the other wingers to me, I noticed he’s very direct. He didn’t beat his man every time but I love when wingers actually try to challenge defenders.4 points

Belal has been doing alright since the lock down started. He was lucky enough that the team let him fly back to canada and spend his time here over the last few months. He was able to continue his training doing individual drills and training on his own. He is now back in Germany with hopes of starting back up again and grinding it out soon. He would be 100% committed to playing team Canada. Born and raised here in this amazing country and will be proud to wear the jersey if he does get the call. I'll keep you guys posted on his training and news4 points -

I like both ZBG and Laryea as options at rb. I really do think they are inter changeable in our starting XI. With his age and slightly more experience, I’d have to go with Laryea with the slight edge RIGHT NOW. If I had to say who I thought has the higher ceiling, I’d give it to ZBG. I’m just happy we got 2 solid options on our already questionable back line3 points -

This is such an odd take. In the end of the day, Laryea started in 16 matches last season while ZBG started 9. You can't exactly call ZBG a starter too. I mean, we just witnessed Piette starting over him last match. A player not starting is not always a reasonable argument imo. Managers make moves we don't always agree with. I would personally rather see Laryea over Auro, just like I'm sure people didn't agree with seeing Piette start over ZBG. And people need to quit it with this whole "defending" thing with Laryea. What has he been doing to make people still think like this?3 points -
Inglostadt up 3-2 on aggregate. This game is so exciting. elva has been playing at LM, and he’s been going to work causing problems.3 points

If you mean Laryea is more impactful because he can score or win a penalty when his team is down a goal, then I agree.... that's when he subs in for TFC . He has not won the starting RB spot for his club for a reason.... his defensive ability has not been tested. Ritchie is also playing with better players and more support at TFC. In the games I have watched ZBG play last season and this season, he has performed very well and is a threat with his speed. He played conservatively yesterday and I have to think that was the instructions from the coaching staff for some reason! I would comforta3 points -

Wow so one year later and no Ottawa Fury. Remember all those fans who swore there'd never be soccer in the city if there was no continued sanctioning for the USL? USL Championship starts up this weekend with a home and away schedule to play well on ESPN. The compromise reached is that conferences have been divided up into smaller groups. Fury would have been in the conference containing teams from Pennsylvania and New York state (at least avoiding the Florida and other teams from the Covid/southern states). Note there are some crossover games as NYRB II visits At3 points -

Honestly, I don't mind Ozzie. I may not agree with him at times, but some of the article he puts up have interesting information.2 points -
I think Tabla brings excitement due to his intention rather than his actual end product. He does repeatedly fail to beat his man, but he always tries and Canada doesn't produce many players like that. It is understandable why people are excited about him. Like any young player, we are tempted to focus on their potential while forgiving their lack of production (Millar is in the same boat), so it's good to hear a healthy dose of criticism about him. I should probably at least mention ZBG. Someone mentioned he was quiet and I saw the replay and would agree. That's not always a bad thing fo2 points

MLS designates an exclusive scouting zone within Canada to each of the three Canadian franchises. The zones vary in terms of geographical size in order to ensure that each club has a proportional amount of the population to scout from. Vancouver's zone includes BC and the Prairie Provinces. I believe that TFC gets all of the Golden Horseshoe area (The exact zone could be a bit smaller or larger, I'm not 100% sure). The Impact get all of Quebec. All of Canada that was not included in any of the aforementioned regions is fair game for any of the Canadian clubs to scout from. That means the2 points

Lille’s management is pretty competent by all reports. By the way, my deepest condolences on your brother. Losing a close family member is incredibly hard. When I lost my son 2 years ago, it was very hard to get through some days. Take the time you need to be with your family and don’t feel pressured to “get back to normal” because there really isn’t a fixed time. I found it was like waves- some good days, some bad days. Eventually the waves get further and further apart2 points -
Toronto basically have two starting right backs. ZBG is the starter at Montreal and Piette was an early-season experiment. That’s my take on it.1 point

He had one good cross and linked up for at least one promising attack. he also lost possession a few times. No one is saying he looked like Messi out there but given his form over the last 12 months you wound have to say it was a positive performance that hopefully he can build on .1 point -

I wasn't fully focused on the game, but every time I saw Tabla with the ball he was hogging it and failing to beat his defender.. He brought energy ya, but i saw him lose possession a lot. I don't know, maybe I missed something here. Just noticed I'm saying this in a ZBG topic, huh?1 point

Players you expect to see in the CPL
Ruffian reacted to Rocket Robin for a topic
I can think of five players from last year's TFC II team who have now signed TFC MLS pro contracts. Now I wouldn't expect them to break into the MLS team but since the pros are in a tourney now, then there'll be a compressed regular season followed by playoffs. I'd expect there'll be a lot of two games per week especially with TFC not being given a bye to the semi-finals this year to the Canadian Championship like previous years. That would mean six games instead of four. I expect the five subs allowed per game rule will be extended until the end of the season. I won't count MLS contrac1 point -

The Importance of Alphonso Davies
CANMNT_SUPERFAN reacted to Obinna for a topic
I think that is optimistic. There is a lot of competition at Chelsea and players are playing for places if not for anything else. Even if the result is "out of reach" they are going to want to impress the manager and if you get an early Chelsea goal or two things will get nervy for Bayern. Conversely, an early Bayern goal could kill things off from the get-go. That's the scenario I am hoping for.1 point -

The bigger reason why I am not keen on a tournament between CPL teams and TFC II is just the numbers. CPL has an 8 team league now and already has a vastly shortened amount of time to play meaningful games. Why use up more of that time with a 9 team exhibition tournament (more byes) rather than use that time for official games? I agree with the poster who said TFC II should go to Saskatchewan to see if the summer soccer series can be saved.1 point

CPL Playing During the Coronavirus/Covid19 Pandemic
DoyleG reacted to Trois Reds for a topic
Probably because 3 of the 7 teams are within an hour's drive of each other and Toronto, one of them is the hub city, and Ottawa is within driving distance and is in the province. Just a quick check on the CEBL website shows that Saskatchewan's training camp roster are mostly players from Ontario. All of Hamilton's are. The CPL is more spread out, both with teams and where players are from. Half of the CEBL didn't even need to leave Ontario to quarantine - they already live there!1 point -
Not really...as an Arsenal fan we need to replace Laca/Auba with a experience/proven goal scorers. We already have young guys in Martinelli, Nketiah, and Nelson. I personally don't want David at the mess of the club that is called Arsenal. It sounds nice from a Canadian fan perspective, but so does Liam Millar being signed to Liverpool.1 point

Damn, was hoping he would go there. Thought it was the best fit for his development. Btw how does that deal work club wise? Redbulls just paid themselves? lol1 point

With all do respect, Arsenal doesn't seem like the best environment for a young promising player at the moment.1 point

I prefer him in the Bundesliga over the Ligue 1. I have this weird feeling, if he goes to Ligue 1...he'll conform or get to comfortable. Weird to say, as if I know the kid...but I feel Germany will keep him out of his comfort zone vs France. I think it will be easier for him to acclimatize to French culture rather than German, which effects your comfortability and how you think.1 point

I selfishly want him in Bundesliga so that I don't have to follow another league, but Lille would be a great option even if they don't play Champions League next season1 point
