+10000000 There is a reason he has already worn the armband for us and it's not just based on skillset. A few on here criticized his move to a lower league. I always felt for CMNT it was a great move for us. At Burnley he was not always playing the full 90 and often pushed out wide on the wings. The reality is, week in and week out, he's asked to play a central midfield role and completely boss the middle of the park. He will and should be asked to have an almost identical role for the CMNT. The fact he is playing this role week in and week out is massive for us. He is

  3. Well it wasn't a good idea to post the above reaction to my statement so you either don't actually know the difference between a good idea and a bad idea or you're really consistent at following through with bad ideas. I will try one more time to see if this can sink in. I doubt it will, but I'm persistent. It doesn't matter if it's a good idea or a bad idea to start CanPL. It does matter if it's necessary and it absolutely is. And because it's necessary, bad idea or not, it's worth supporting. Of course, good solid critique is actually valuable in this process. But you don't offer

Exactly what he needs. to fight and push and try to fight his way into the starting line up. That’s his goal for this loan. . He had a meeting with Steve Clarke yesterday and was told he’s doing well he’s very close to a start but be patient and keep working. 6. This entire line of reasoning, one that you've been hammering on about for years, is debatable. In fact, based on what I've been told by those who might actually be willing to start USL teams including all of the current and former PDL teams, multiple people from higher end academies and clubs across Canada, and several folks involved in L1O and other high performance leagues, CanPL is a far preferable to USL. In short, your arguments are sitting on sand. But of course you've convinced yourself that you're right. It's sad, honestly. Let me point something out to you. It's a pattern that

This is who I'd select if I were John Herdman, my Best XI and depth chart Few things to say: - Leutwiler beats Thomas as the 3rd choice GK due to being in the English Championship and Simon in the Norwegian 2nd tier, it's a no brainer. - De Jong (32) Jakovic (33) and Edgar (31) simply do not have what it takes to keep up with the he demands of International Football. They lack pace, level and continuity, I simply don't see them in the future plans - Levis deserves to be in the contention for Left Back; After Adekugbe who last year player 25+ matches in the Norwegian Top Ti

And I can state that it’s not a red flag based on the superior knowledge I have of the situation. And if that’s what you take from my above comments, then that’s sad but not unexpected.

  10. @BringBackTheBlizzard I’ve seen you mention many times how we could have gone the USL Championship route. How is this any different? This is like USL but with continental play and a broadcasting deal. It seems to hurt people’s feelings that CPL is shaping up to be better than USL in every aspect. Seriously spinsters? USL just signed a Canadian from the 2nd division Faroese league.. your “better level” argument is fading fast and you’re grasping at straws. I get you’re just here to put a negative spin on everything but at least explain yourself. CPL is a more attractive option than US

  12. I think we can all agree and largely knew before the release, that the schedule was going to be less than perfect. The league was facing numerous scheduling issues, and probably many we aren't aware of. As long as it's rectified next season,.....and I have no doubt it will be,.....I have no concerns and all is forgiven. Too excited about kick-off to worry about these things. Years from now, the crazy league schedule in year one, will be nothing but historical folklore. The only thing that could make it better.........would be Valour crowned as champion.

  14. Are people seriously only wanting 24 games just to make it an even schedule? I would much rather have more games to watch than an even schedule! 24 games is very low to attract any professional players, and harder to bring in money (ads, ticket sales, etc...). Yay for 28 games! That’s 2 more extra home games!

That’s huge and really just are one good performance away from starting. 22. Okay and then we would have been stuck in the USL with no shot at a pro league? We would have had 3 Ottawa’s instead of one? Ottawa is a blueprint for the failure of USL.. poor branding, poor management, high turnover, road to nowhere etc. Short term loss for long term gain is a basic tenet of business. Was it worth it to put a few USL franchises on hold for a few years? Yes x10000. In hindsight that was the easiest decision the CSA has ever had to make and I’m sure they’re glad they did. It would have been easy to fold and let a few teams in USL but we would be capped on pro teams.

  27. The old CSL was in trouble from the very first game. They were severely undercapitalized and doomed to fail. The Winnipeg Fury was cited earlier or in this thread or another as having some success. I have a good friend who was on their board. They were shipping money out the door throughout their entire existence. The Safeway promotions were an unmitigated disaster as they papered the house and undercut the value of their own tickets. I’ll take his analysis (considering he’s also an economist) over yours. There is a lot to learn from the CSL’s failures but little to compare between their

  28. Scheduling is a nightmare of a task. Anyone having done that for just staffing would know that, let alone a league that must take into account uneven teams, logistics, availability of stadiums, a farce of a CONCACAF league qualification and entering the Canadian Championship at different rounds. I don't think they are stupid enough to do the uneven split season on purpose. CONCACAF league (timing coincide) played a heavy hand it this and other factors made it harder. Year 2 should be different with more teams and no mid season, CONCACAF arbitrary qualifiers.

Their marketing and business plan is very complex and they've done a very large amount of market research to back up their chosen approaches, much of which hasn't even been seen or released yet. So once again, you are basing your assessment on virtually nothing. Here are a few hints ... listen more, opine less. Ask a question once in a while. Pay closer attention to people who are closer to the actual situation. You might learn a little and not seem so lost and ill-informed. Also not

  33. You are correct, maybe my earlier post wasn't quite clear. I''m sure ownership has a construction schedule. We all know construction plans are prone to delays whether by weeks or months. Greenpark, the owners, would have a very good idea of this. If you promise something and don't deliver fans have a right to upset. At this stage in the game when ownership is trying to build credibility and trusting relationship with fans promising a date with the potential of not making good on it would do more harm than promising a date at this stage. I am sure he is used to ip playing in Uruguay, but maybe a reminder that this bullshit is littered throughout CONCACAF might not be a bad idea. Its great to play with passion and fire, but there are certain clear lines that you have to respect or else you will get sent off. Some Honduran douchebag sure isn't above taking a dive to get one of our guys sent of so keep your hands to yourself. Want revenge? Send em home packing from WCQ. That will be far more satisfying that a shove in the back.

This is one of my pet peeves...the two words should not go together. If there are two unique things, one can't be more unique than the other. Something is either unique or it's not. I do understand it's used this way in common English, but perhaps their writers would be better off expanding their vocabulary to describe their stadium. Pet peeve over, I have to go have my nap now.

  36. I think I found a compromise solution: 2020 CCL format, except instead of 6 CL qualifiers (I can't get the game to recognize 4-6th qualifier), the top 3 CL teams qualify (which necessitated adding a 3rd place CL playoff). To fill out the 3 empty spots in CCL, I gave Costa RIca, Panama, Honduras a auto qualification spot to the CCL. The CL is identical to the real format, except for a third place playoff game. Hoping to get it all done and available for folks this afternoon before I have to get to work.

As the season progresses I can see more Fury fans realizing the league they are in is stable and of a higher quality. Therefore , the MLS just needed owners with sustainability and that’s why they allowed multiple teams owned by the same owners . However , getting back to players , rules can also be put into place that an MLSE owned CPL team would have to pay a transfer fee to the CPL if they outright signed a player from their CPL team to their MLS team . Rules can be put into place that will make it a win win for the CP
