Kid is electric and getting better every game. What is most exciting to see is how quickly he is learning the game. All three assists tonight were poised, smart and clinical. Credit to Robbo and his staff for handling him as well as they have, for bringing him into the full senior squad as quickly as they did, and for giving him significant game time. Credit to Davies for keeping his head, working his ass off, and choosing to play international football for Canada!! He also drew two yellow cards, all because of his speed and willingness to drive forwards. I will be sad to see him go, but he will not be with the Caps much longer, that's for sure. He's got the tools to play in the Premiership, for sure. Would also love to see him in the Bundesliga.

    Toulon Tournament (2018)

So Zambrano was good, but Herdman is not good enough because of finishing 6th. Lets just remember Herdman/Biello just finished 6th after playing Portugal, Turkey, Japan, and France. Zambrano lost in the quarterfinals (so equivalent to finishing 5th-8th) in the Gold Cup after playing French Guiana, Costa Rica, Honduras, and Jamaica. Alright then.

Bringing in Aketxe was the worst thing TFC could do with Osorio not sealed up. A guy making a mil can’t win the spot from him. Id have to imagine he could find somewhere willing to give him at least 4-500K especially in Mexico after he won the golden boot in the CCL. I think he’s be a great fit for that league too.

WOW! What a game from Davies picks up one goal and three assists. His combination of dribbling, speed, and strength would scare almost any fullback. I am going to guess the transfer rumours are going to start piling up.

Fans should be showing up to watch Davies regardless of Robbo and the squad. Davies is carving Will Johnson up and has drawn numerous fouls and set up the goal and almost scored just now. His skill is catching up to his pace and pretty soon nobody who lives in Canada is going to be seeing him in person. He is the real deal??

It's more than an adjustment, they're replacing the current ranking system with a modified Elo system like in the Women's rankings. So the rankings will be much simpler with no averages updated monthly, just points being added/subtracted after each match. Nations' ranking points will be transferred as-is from the current system into the new one. https://resources.fifa.com/image/upload/revision-of-the-fifa-coca-cola-world-ranking.pdf?cloudid=jgxjkdrj1jfwyunjbkha Notably, there will also be different weights for friendlies played inside and outside international windows. Nations League group stages will be the lowest weighted competitions, but Nations League play-offs will be weighted the same as continental qualifiers and World Cup qualifiers.

Regarding pro/rel, I think something that Clanachan said got missed a month or two ago. He said when they reached 16 teams they would stop taking new expansion teams while they gather the requisite number of D2 teams to launch, which is a bit different than earlier reports of splitting in two once they hit 16. That's hitting 16, waiting for the minimum additional clubs (8?) to be ready to launch, then have a two tier system That makes more sense if they are talking about a possible 12-14 team first division. I don't think anyone thinks it's reasonable for 12 teams to split into two divisions I would suspect these are still ongoing discussions with nothing set in stone, but I don't think the "splitting" part was confirmed

    General Discussion on CMNT

Aplogize for arriving late to this forum.... I agree with many that it is extremely disappointing to not have the MNT playing exhibition games during these FIFA dates. I sends a wrong message to the players (nevermind the fans). It must be frustrating for players to see your US counterparts play France, and the CSA does not think it necessary to organize anything.

I can't believe he will be playing into his 30s given this exposure early on, but man I hope we all sit back and enjoy it while he is here as he is a sight to behold. If he continues to develop and stays injury free..oh my. He is on a trajectory to a big European club and soon.

One thing that pleasantly surprised me last night was Doneil making a couple of nice accurate passes out of the back - with his left foot. My recollection of him in Toronto is that he didn't have a left to speak of.

Heading down to the Canada-Germany CWNT game today at THF. Can't wait to see the atmosphere with a sellout crowd and imagine what it might be like seeing Founders FC play to a sellout vs TFC in Voyageurs Cup or Club America or Tigres in CONCACAF Champion's League! Or just crushing Kitchener-Waterloo in some future Derby to clinch the CanPL title!

    TFC 2018

And a nice goal it was too by the look of the highlights. Akinola's goal was also nice, both players showing some un-Ben Spencer like finishing. Looks like TFC2 got ripped off big time as the 2nd goal by Harrisburg should have been flagged for offside and the handball PK call for the winning goal was a joke - what was Boskovic supposed to do, dislocate his arm from his body so that the ball hit the side of his chest instead?

I don't see how pro/rel between two divisions is viable at anything less than 8-8 in division number terms, so all he is probably saying with that is that it only becomes an issue when they are close to that numerically. Think this is probably just a stock answer they come up with to stop the zealots on this particular issue from hassling them all the time. How many owners who have paid a franchise fee to enter this league are going to vote to relegate themselves or risk doing so in future?

A couple of years ago he couldn't hit an open net standing right in front of it. It was his main weakness as a player and it greatly reduced his effectiveness because at the end of him carrying the ball to the box he only had one effective option which was to pass to another player. It seems like he worked a lot on his shooting and accuracy in the last couple of years and it is paying off for him.

Not sure why Carmine Isacco and Nick Dasovic tend to get a mention given they lasted about 5 minutes at TFC, while in contrast Jason Bent usually gets overlooked in threads like this despite the way he has hung in there for a decade now through so many front office and head coaching changes. He must be doing something right.

I like the crest, it's very modern with an aggressive look, I like that it calls back on our history and subtly features the rabbit, which will obviously be part of other branding material. I like that it juxtaposes Calgary's "vintage" look, adding another element to the differences between the two cities. The colour scheme is fantastic. Honestly tho, I don't care what most think at the moment. The biggest determination of a crest's success is time. If people in Edmonton can embrace the weak ass crest the Oilers have, then getting people on board should be no problem. I'm still going to wear the **** out of it. It's MY TEAM's crest.

I'll mention someone I know, thinking of various roles. One is Srdjan Djekanovic, who after retiring in 2010 from Impact ended up coaching as an assistant at UBC, and then head coach at Kwantlen University in Richmond for a few years, until they cut out their athletics programs. He has coached youth as well. He is perfectly qualified to be an assistant or goalkeeper coach. The first player to play for all three Canadian teams, whether Caps in USL or the others in MLS. I would imagine we have quite a few people like this, with some experience on a university or semi-pro level, but with extensive pro experience as players. We have to know what it means to develop coaching staff as well, IMO:

Petrasso is sliding down the depth chart at RB for the CMNT. One has to think that Cordova who is playing consistently in Chile has supplanted him. That's the luxury of having depth.

[ 1 ] FT. Mexico 2 - 1 Canada. Mendoza 6', Jimenez 45+2' (PK), Akindoju 37'. Stats look bad for Canada. [ 2 ] Canada in the third place match on Tuesday ( June 12 , 2018 ) A loss and they miss the 2018 FIFA U17 WWC Uruguay. A win and they are in Group C with North Korea U17, Germany U17 , and Cameroon U17 ( the draw was already held ) That's a scary group to be in. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2018_FIFA_U-17_Women's_World_Cup [ 3 ] Only a small handful of the Mexico U17 roster played regularly in Liga MX femenil -- most of them were used sparingly. Anyway I read that Liga MX femenil were not satisfied with the U17 development in the league last year, consequently there's a new requirement that Mexico U17s get a 1000 development minutes when the league starts up again ( the apertura tournament) in early July.

I really hope Davies has the right agent that will land him at a club capable of fully developing his potential. He is at such a crucial age and I sense that we are just seeing the tip of the iceberg as in yesterday's game. So many factors that can impact his development.

If we really get to a situation with two divisions, and promotion, then it'd be absolutely amazing. You could make it 8 and 8. The first eight start in first tier, and get a guaranteed period of years in top flight. The second 8 come into the league with the incentive to promote. But hey, I have no idea if this division business is conceived in terms of promotion and relegation. Is it?

[ 1 ] German interview ( June 8, 2018 ) with Sophie Schmidt : https://www.dfb.de/frauen-nationalmannschaft/news-detail/schmidt-in-hamilton-ist-alles-moeglich-187653/ Takeaways: - Canada is trying to get a match with Australia in August. -After three good seasons in Germany, Sophie Schmidt left her club FFC Frankfurt because her future husband could not get a visa in Germany . - Sophie Schmidt is planning to live in the Vancouver area and hopes to play for a North American club. [ 2 ] Sounds like a return to the NWSL for Sophie Schmidt and Sky Blue could still be in possession of her NWSL rights , even though she last played for them in 2014. Maybe Sophie Schmidt could be part of a Vancouver Whitecaps FC women NWSL expansion team?

I've seen this a few times in girls and boys. A youngster has a great game or scores a great goal and all of a sudden they are built up, put on a pedestal, exaggerated media coverage all causing great expectations. But then the temporary greatness just vanishes in following games. As an example, I bought all of this greatness said about Huitema and on her last game I kept on waiting for something great by her but nothing happened at all.

Think they should go for quality rather than quantity on imports. A strong trio of signings at centre back, central midfielder and centre forward can solidify the spine of a team in a big way. There's no need to bring in lots of Dan Gargan type players as they are not going to improve the entertainment product significantly.

It's all very well to laugh, but they have to make a bit of an effor to get the interest up. I'm a bit surprised by the passivity. -be more active on social media, that means multiple times daily at least. Designate 2-3 people to speak regularly, and get articles in local press as well, radio -be more creative with marketing, use the 9 concept, ie, create a rivalry or contest between the various municipalities in the "9" to see who gets the most supporters committed. Or, organize a supporter's soccer tournament one weekend. -strengthen merchanising by doing promos I think it is no crisis yet the slow response, perhaps it is understandable, but part of the core has to come now, even if it is 800-1000 total fans considering many pre-sales might mean more than 1 ticket.
