  1. Davies is absolutely amazing. He has made 3 or 4 incredible runs, played well defensively, hustled his arse off, and looked great on the ball. He will no doubt be moving on to bigger and better things sooner rather than later.

    Impact 2018

I thought Piette had a massive game yesterday breaking up most TFC attacks, winning posession and following that up with a smart pass forward, he dominated Bradley for the most part and set up the goal with one of those challenges where he beat Bradley, it was great to watch as a Voyageur, not so much for TFC fans! Petrasso I thought had a solid match played a little further forward, he had some good battles with Morgan and Osorio who was quite pissed at him at one point and wouldn't accept an apologetic handshake, he also saved the match for the Impact with his brilliant goal line clearance!

Best player on the field, for either team. Too bad most of the work is done in his own 3rd not the opposing 3rd or there would be goals attached I'l go out on a limb and say, right now he is too good for the mls

  8. There were plenty of times during the game where Davies made the simple pass out during the game. They just don't make it into a video like this. I like that when Davies sees an opportunity he goes for it. It not only demonstrates he's offensive potential but it is great for developing it.

If Robinson keeps rolling out a 3-5-2 (which I highly, highly doubt considering the Caps have lost whenever they've played that formation), then I guess he'll keep Davies there. Otherwise, he's the starting LW without much of a doubt In the meantime, just look at this stuff:

Good to hear but playing him at full back is a criminal waste of talent, even if he is great there. What next, Larin at Centre Back?! Our attacking talent needs to be used.........in attack!!

Aleman scores for Sacremento in the opener. Playing inverted winger, cutting in on his left foot like he was ROBBEN. Announcers are really bragging him up.

  13. Love that the rule says the foul needs to be "clear and decisive" and the ref could only make a decision after 3 minutes and 48 seconds of watching relays. Ridiculous, absolute waste of a matchday.

  14. Like AJH as well. He has looked for club and country and it is great that he was able to get on the pitch today. If he begins playing regularly and doing what he did last year I would slot him behind Cav but in front of Larin until Cyle starts playing again. It’s a great problem to have.

  15. Waston is looking at the ball to make the play, following it all the way; the Atl player barges into him from behind on the wrong side of the ball. The Tico puts his arm out and the attacker drops. He makes the exact opposite call, it should have been a foul in our favour. Disgusting MLS reffing.

Fighting is fine. Overtime loss points are okay, but making regulation win three points is a must, overtime wins 2 and overtime loss 1 like how they did in the Olympics. Anyhow, the biggest shot in the arm NA hockey needs is the move to a bigger ice surface, sizes that are used in IIHF events in Europe. The players today are just too athletic, too fast for the small North American ice size. The game is played at a break neck speed and it just seems like a fast game of dump and chase, battle it out in the corners, rinse-repeat. We need more creative hockey that is based on puck possession and m

    2026 WC Bid?

In my mind Toronto and Vancouver would require the least amount of money to get up to scratch. Were as Montreal and Edmonton would require the most. I mean to be quite blunt I'm not sure the Montreal and Edmonton stadiums would have be qualified to host a WC game 15 years ago...let alone in 2026...

It's a shame Vanney won't change the forwards, Jozy has been fairly absent in MLS play anyway, you would think it would be worth getting Hamilton's fresh legs and change of pace into the match at some point would make sense!

  27. Echoing the world's thoughts. What is the actual point of VAR if the red can't even make the right decision with it. Clear foul on waston. Even if he deems it an elbow and a red it still should have been a free-kick to the whitecaps. Also maunds own goal only happens because he has to play the ball to stop the Atlanta player who is far offside getting the ball. Surprised the whitecaps didn't appeal that. If maund leaves it then it would have been offside. It's instinctual though. Disappointing non call.

  29. Are those other Cardiff callups either playing for teams preparing for Russia or guys fighting for a spot in their squad? Hoilett is a fairly unique case. This is a closed doors friendly with no major tournaments on the horizon. And he is an automatic starter for Canada who has done some serious travelling in last couple years for qualifiers and Gold Cup. IMO he deserves the break if he needs it. At this point in his career he's probably got one shot left at the Premier League. He's possibly been playing the best football of his career. If he needs a rest he needs a rest.

He's had 2 great games and 1 good one. Let's see if he can string this out for half a season or a full season. If he can put up double digit goals and assists I think that will go a long way for him.

I think his situation is perfect. Last year he had trouble breaking into the lineup. This year he's finally looking like he'll be a core player. I wouldn't say he's too good for MLS now but I think over the course of the year he could prove that out. At which point he can be transferred to a German club.

With our MNT, Cavallini's sample size is even smaller. And no goals... Against TFC yesterday, Rémi Garde went with 2 strikers (Piatti and Vargas). Would be nice to see AJH up front with Piatti.

  37. If it is then the 132 signatures since March 10th (many from outside Saskatchewan despite the Saskatchewan residents only line being displayed prominently in bold face) out of a 10,000 target on this petition isn't looking great in optics terms at the moment: https://www.ipetitions.com/petition/sign-to-support-downtown-saskatoon-stadium and there appears to be an urgent need to engage with people in the mainstream soccer community in the Saskatoon area that are outside of the small fringe internet bubble.

  38. Lot's of Canadians playing in the first round of USL, but let's look at MLS: Montreal Impact - Toronto FC (1-0) Petrasso and Piette start and play the game out for Montreal. Beland-Goyette enters for Krolicki in the 66th, Jackson-Hamel makes his season debut in the 94th. For TFC, Morgan and Osorio start, Morgan gets taken out after 66 minutes for Mauro. New York City - Orlando City SC (2-0) Johnson starts and finishes for Orlando. Layrea comes into the game in the 67th. On the other side, Awuah get's short cameo, 2 minutes plus ET. The Caps don't have 2 wingers better than Davies right now, so he'll play there. That said, let's not act like fullback isn't a gigantic aspect of modern football. If you discount the first game of this season, Davies best games with the Caps have all been from fullback. There is a reason for that. For all of the praise we throw at him, Davies is a subpar MLS winger in tight spaces and in the final third. From LB he has the freedom to attack the open space (which is his elite trait) that isn't available further up the field. He thrives in those spots. So while I think giving him the time

    Keven Aleman - Thank you

Sounds like an optimal position for him. Always felt he took a little too much time on the ball in that CAM role, which he could get away with at the U17 level but not against men. Not a CF, tried DM to mixed results..not a great crosser so better on the right then left where he can cut in to attack the box. edit: smart run. looks like the LB was helping out in the middle and the mid/winger didn't follow Aleman closely enough.

Tbh I don't think Toronto have played that bad in their first two MLS games. For the most part they controlled the games and got beat by two teams who have good counter-attacks. I think the team has outgrown a lot of it's centrebacks though. Also Aketxe seems to be still adjusting.

  45. Think what people are missing is that the tiers go A League (1), NPL Victoria (2), NPL Victoria 2 (3), Victoria League (4), Victoria League 2 (5). This is fast approaching pub league level by the times you get through that many regional tiers, so think the main attraction is probably getting the foot in the door in terms of getting paid to coach.

  46. As mentioned above, my guess is that it was Junior's decision and that Herdman was fine with it. Junior is getting close to being "senior" and this may be his last chance to play at the top level. And this is really just a scrimmage. From Herdman's perspective it gives him a chance to take a look at other players. Nothing to worry about. I'm sure he will be there when we really need him.

But until they accept a call up they are no different than any other player who doesn't play for us. Guys like Millar - who want to be part of out team going forward - they are the ones I will invest my emotional energy in.

Aside from run of the mill name calling, he's used mental illness as an insult and accused a slew of people sincerely trying to grow support for CPL as being "attention seekers". That's all I'll really say about that, I don't want the thread to become about bashing an individual, just informing you.
