Match Thread: Voyageurs Cup - Semi-Finals - Leg 2 - Toronto FC v Forge - August 27, 2024

Recommended Posts

A goal by either Deandre Kerr (TFC) or Jordan Hamilton (Forge) would be their sixth and move them into a tie for second all time in Canadian Championship scoring.  A goal by David Choiniere (Forge) would be his fifth and move him into a tie for third all time.

(Jonathan Osorio leads the all time scoring list with eight.  No one has seven so solo possession of second place is on the table, too, if someone has a really good game.)

Still no word on Forge player availability,

So a question for Forge fans:  If Bekker was questionable, would you want the coach to risk him because this is a big game or rest him because the regular season is more important?

Who gives a shit about Kyle “Bust” Bekker. Forge literally have Choinere. This guy is a problem and will cause TFC issues tonight. I think his ceiling is higher than his brother. A very influential player. I would trade Passenger Oso for this guy right now. Unfortunately, Smyrniotis is not an idiot.

It should be a pretty one-sided thumping by TFC.  It probably will be a good game.

You’re completely delusional if you think that. Forge are no scrubs and their defence is legit. They’re in 1st place for a reason.

I'm meaning more that a club with TFC's resources should have a side that could easily dispatch any CPL team.

Team chemistry is way more important than having more resources. The 1st leg was a perfect example.

david choiniere is turning twenty eight...he wont get anywhere near the over one hundred mls games his brother has...anyway this will be a tough one for tfc as forge is an organized and experienced side and obviously is leading

You do realize age 28 is a player’s prime. I’m talking about making impact right now. He could step into TFC right now and displace Invisible Oso. The difference would be night and day. I would give him a 3 year deal right now.

You cant make this up...so Bekker (CPL best 11 in 2023) is a scrub and who cares if he plays??  Forge will need all hands on deck if they want to finish off an upset of TFC.

Kyle “Bust” Bekker is in the top 3 of the worst players in TFC’s history. The amount of opportunities this guy got at TFC was laughable because he was complete shit. Just because he is doing well in CPL, where the majority of players don’t have professional experience, isn’t really a big accomplishment. Choinere can easily step in and fill his “void”.

maybe or maybe not but his ceiling isnt higher than his brother when hes still in cpl at close to 28

Sometimes, the right move just never materializes. Still rate him very highly.

I know this is pointless, but if Bekker is an MLS bust (50+ games), what does that make Choniere (5 games), and which guy was up for CPL player of the year last year????  Not trying to slag Choiniere (who would come to the board just to slag CDN players???) but I'm sure Bobby S is desperate to have Bekker for this game.

A lot of it is due to opportunity. Kyle Bekker was marketed as this great white hope for TFC’s midfield. When you’re a blonde haired, blue eyed, white kid from Oakville, Ontario then unlimited opportunities are given to you even when you’re complete shit. It was very much evident during his TFC tenure where he racked up the majority of those appearances in MLS.
