Match Thread: August 18, 2024 - Vancouver FC vs Forge

Recommended Posts

A fair bit of squad rotation for Forge with 4 changes from Wednesday, Poku is on his way to Belgium and Kalongo is injured, not sure why Bekker didn't make the trip, injury or suspension!

Forge were in good control for most of the half, the chances they gave up were mostly unforced errors, they look a little out of sync in central defence with AJ not there, Metusala and Owolabi-Belewu look nervous at times! I wouldn't be surprised if Bobby eventually moves AJ back and brings Hojabrpour in to anchor the midfield!

A nice away win for Forge, they looked like they were tiring and on the back foot in the dying minutes and I was hoping for a point, the counter was always going to be a risk VFC were taking pushing so many up going for all 3 points! A very nice run and finish by Schiavoni to put us back top of the table, did he just put himself into the mix for the playing time available at striker with Poke's imminent departure? It sounded in the post match interview like Forge just arrived today, is that normal for long trips in the CPL?

In retrospect maybe Vancouver FC should have settled for the pt. I feel like Vancouver fc is in the drivers seat for that last playoff spot but with no home playoff games it doesn't feel like much of an accomplishment

Trying to make my mind up on whether 23 (Gee) or 4 (Enyou) messed up more on the winning goal. Think from the complete lack of activity that 23 thought he was last man and Schiavoni had mistimed his run relative to the pass and didn't realize 4 was so deep and playing him on. 4 was probably more to blame in other words.
