narduch
With Project 8 starting next year and Confacaf launching its new Women's Champions League, should the defunct Women's Voyageurs Cup be the new tournament that determines Canada's rep for CCC? The original cup was awarded from 2004-2006. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voyageurs_Cup_(women) You could have a knock-out tournament featuring the Project 8 teams and the League 1 provincial champs. SthMelbRed
Is there a trophy in existence for this, or was it more of a spiritual title? narduch
Trois Reds
I would be good with something like this. I didn't know there was a women's Voyageur's Cup. narduch

I went to look at the internet Way Back Machine and there was definitely a list of donors. Can't find any photos of the actual Cup. I think there was even 2 Cups because the East and West didn't meet in W-League https://web.archive.org/web/20060525170013/http://www.voyageurscup.ca/

chalms04
Perhaps Kevin Blue could get Volkswagen on as the sponsor. "WV Cup presented by VW" wouldn't be confusing at all. Sidenote re: naming, Calgary's participant in 2004 was definitely ahead of its time. narduch

Unnamed Trialist
Thanks for this thread. I had thought of this as well. As Canada has designated a team already for the Concacaf competitions, it is something they have to resolve sooner or later: how to choose a representative. While a Project 8 winner might be the way, with those 8 teams, plus the League One teams, you have the basis for an interesting competition. I am not sure if I was a donor as well for the original Voyageurs Cup for women, and don't recall what it was like. I am sure if we were to propose it, the CSA would consider it.
