That was quarter finals.

The US just lost to North Korea 1-0, first half goal. 

Other semi is Japan vs. Netherlands, the former knocked out Spain the holder.

I have been watching bits and pieces of the Japan/Netherlands game.  Kudos to the Dutch for hanging in there and keeping it scoreless after the first half.  The Japanese look so good on attack in the final third.  No smoking hard passes or fancy chips, they just push the ball into spaces to team mates anticipating perfectly.  They look like a perfectly synchronized machine.  The final shot is hard to get through the packed Dutch players, but it seems like it is only a matter of time before it happens.

I didn't expect anyone could stifle the Japanese attack so thoroughly, but the Koreans defended spectacularly.  They were smothering, pressuring with two or three players and blocking passing lanes.  When the Japanese got desperate and started kicking high balls down the field, the Koreans out-jumped the small Japanese forwards and headed the ball to safety.  I'm not sure if the Japanese even got a shot on target the whole game.  Hats off to the Koreans, because they thoroughly deserved that win.  They made the 1-0 score look safe.
