red card
Watching the Caps play 5 matches over the past month and taking account their 28 match undefeated streak, it shows why there has been a drop in BC players playing on national teams. Individually and as a team, they don't make too many self-inflicted mistakes. They play within themselves, mentally strong, don't get out of position often and had the speed/strength/tactical advantage ex vs Club America. But they don't do anything spectacular. There aren't too many moments where you see elite level skills being demonstrated. On the other hand, if they transpose this approach to their NSL squad, they are front runners to be the first title winners. And they may done enough to avoid the Champions Cup qualifying round next year. Edited September 5 by red card

Even though the Thorns continue to be on a terrible run, and likely will.have a serious shake up in the off season if they continue that stumble, they should have even quality to beat Whitecaps women comfortably. rkomar
Halfway through the game and the Whitecaps are fortunate to have a scoreless draw so far. The play feels like 95% in the Whitecaps half. They are defending well, but looked much more tired than the Wave players by the end of the half. Keeping that score to the end would be a major victory in my eyes.

Kent
The loss yesterday all but mathematically eliminates the Whitecaps. To advance now they need to beat Portland in their final game, and have America lose to San Diego, and they need to overturn a 18 goal difference compared to America. So like a 10-0 win for the Whitecaps against Portland and a 9-0 win for San Diego over America would do the trick. I'm thinking that's about as unlikely as it gets.
