Hot take: Messi is a class act but the Messi only fans are quite annoying... Its fine to cheer for a team due to one player but actually do cheer for the whole team (like the rest of the Messi fans do) instead of transparently only caring for one player.

insigne subs in gets a huge chance doesnt score and then nyc makes it 3-1 and thats game...late petretta goal but its too little too late...bernardeschi gets a second yellow after the whistle and johnson also goes wild and will probably get suspended also...classic tfc stuff

That was wild.  I got up and missed what set the whole thing off.  Definite suspensions coming.  Looks like Gavran will get another shot.

They added around 7 minutes of added time, within those 7 minutes NYCFC waisted about another 5 minutes of time with players faking injuries to kill the clock and it worked . The ref only added an extra two minutes of time of injury time . I’ve said in many times the biggest rule change that’s needed in this sport that would eliminate the majority of players faking injuries is better management of the clock by the ref. Give  the responsibility of time keeping to the 4th. official , like really what does the 4th official really do in reality ? I’m sure he can manage the time and let the ref in the middle concentrate all the other responsibilities he has. Moreover, when a player goes down injured the fourth official stops the time until the ball is put back in play for the real amount of time not some make believe time the ref in the center is making up. I’ve kept time just on injury stoppages and have not include all the other stoppages in games and the added time has always been a lot less that the time that was taken up with injuries . Every player knows that the ref will hardly add the real waisted time for injuries during a game so that’s why in most games players will fake injuries to kill the clock . Moreover, can you blame players for doing this when they know they can go down with a fake injury and get away with it by killing the clock .

I'm loving the time wasting change for guys sauntering off the field.  30 years too late, but it's great.

Reminds me of the Beckham game at the Big O.  It was the opposite.  Fans were booing and trash talking him every touch, corner, etc...  I felt it was a bit much.  He lined up for a free kick and the boos started, he scored, and everyone immediately gave him a standing ovation.  I love when athletes bridge the hate with class.  Ronaldinho at the Bernabeu and Ronaldo at Juve probably being the best and most obvious examples.

So over at Portland looks like Neville may have figured out what we've been saying all along, that Miller and MacGraw are not a good partnership.  Last 3 games with both healthy, he's played either or with other partners.

And they are still dead last in the West

For whatever it's worth, Fotmob, of the 15 most used players, has Kamal and Crepeau rated last.  Confirms the eye test that neither has looked good the few matches I've watched.  And yet, I fear Biello will still start both based on history and familiarity.

I'm actually a little worried about keeper position for CANMNT

The new rule is a vast improvement.  Better yet might be to go to a version of "on the fly" substitutions.

So the fourth official would still stand with the oncoming players at centre with the big digital sign but there would be no stoppage in play and so no opportunity to waste any time.  Your new player can come on as soon as your departing player steps off at centre.  The game just continues while this happens.
