So I went to learn about the playoff format and the website won't let me - says i need to sign up!  I just want to know what the next round looks like, why the constant need to give away my personal information.  Will they start asking me to sign up for (probably) daily emails to just check the score next!?

To me this is bush league, and wreaks of business over sport.  I would like to be wrong... am I missing something here or do I need to sign up to learn about the format of the next round?

Apparently.

In any event, while the round of 16 is a best of three, the remaining series (conference semi-finals, conference finals and MLS Cup final) are all one game series.

another big coaching move...philly part ways with curtin...a single title in 10+ seasons which was the 2020 supporters shield...had to make a change after missing playoffs this year

Philadelphia Union part ways with Jim Curtin

I'm not sure Curtin was the problem. Also got them to a Cup final before losing on penalties. Did so while having one of the leagues lowest payrolls.

2018 they were around the middle on payrolls and lost 3-0 in the cup final to the last payroll in the league houston dynamo

I think my opinion is that winning the supporters shield with a payroll near the bottom of the league is more indicative of what he can do than a one-off final between a middle and bottom table club.

He'll get another gig in this league sooner than later.

2015 around the same payroll as skc and lost to them in the cup final...he'll get a head coaching job somewhere but philly also had to make a move

I agree.  I think he had gone as far as he could in Philly.

Late 2023 Leger poll finds 6% of Canadians are fans of the MLS.

NHL dominates. In tier 2 are NFL, MLB, NBA & CFL. Despite no local teams, BC has most interest in NFL & NBA. 18-34 age group have the highest interest in sports even though they're least likely to watch games.

But the biggest segment are non-sports followers. Quebec is least interested which may explain no CPL yet, CFM questions, Expos/Nordiques leaving.

Any wagers on why that is?

u35 segment are majority never corders. Watching tv isn't their primary or even second source of media consumption.

They engage with sports differently. They often go longer/deeper than someone who primarily watch. When they watch, they often prefer parasocial ways like fan channels, alt feeds and watch alongs:

200k just watched tiktok feed of just Messi vs Atlanta as many celebrity-style follow players rather than getting into a team.

They watch mostly highlights/clips. They're into memes, merch and group chats. Deeper understanding of the sport comes through playing video games, fantasy, gambling and podcasts. And some go into analytics.
