The young Canadians Saliba and Rea didn't look out of place.

I would agree but Saliba didn’t look like a replacement for Mihailovic and they generated little offence when he was on the first half. Rea did better but didn’t seem to have the same flow to them as last year. That being said, they had about 5 or 6 quality chances that on another day they would have popped a couple in. They probably outchanced miami even if miami overall had the better of the play

Montreal played a 3-5-2 to start the game, with Saliba as the 3rd mid to the left of Wanyama. When Rea and  Choiniere came on they moved to a 3-4-1-2 with Rea in the "Mihailovic" role

Perhaps. But Saliba was much farther forward than the other 2. Also, Mihailovic quite often played a similar role and only rarely played the role that Rea played

CF Montreal thinking of leaving Stade Saputo and build somewhere else because they view the status quo as "unviable" and the survival of the club depends on upgrading the venue or building a new one

He wouldn't mind investing $100M in the current stadium but he doesn't own the stadium and doesn't want to pay municipal taxes on it.

Also I heard that should the club move, the club would have to pay back the city portion of the stadium upgrades.

Another drawback would be that Montreal would have 2 empty stadiums at Parc olympique...

Would be hilarious if a CPL team started to play there.

Saputo makes these claims every year, it seems.

Just looking for a better deal from the government.

This time its the club president Gabriel Gervais saying this. They aren't going to get a better deal. The city is willing to approve expanding Stade Saputo as their approval would be required but rezoning the area and stop collecting taxes just won't happen.

He can stay, upgrade ($100M) and keep losing "lots" of money (over $12M on average) or build somewhere else a stadium that he would fully own and control or do nothing which could lead to Joey selling (keep losing money)

Looks like downtown "Bassin Peel" isn't an option

A bunch of this is just CF Montreal whining.  On the municipal taxes, however - do they pay all the tax?  Because normally it is the owner who pays the municipal taxes, not the renter.  I get that the rent is set to reflect the reality of tax, but if CF Montreal is only one tenant, they shouldn't be responsible for all the taxes.  They may have a point on that particular issue.

Saputo shared the info a few years back and it was over a million/year, closer to two.  He got swindled by the city, and you can be sure the city will block any oppurtunity he finds to build elsewhere.

Peladeau was announced as the new owner of the Als with a press conference today.

The 61-year-old was asked if he would be open to collaborating with CF Montreal, the city’s Major League Soccer franchise, and their ownership on a joint new stadium effort. He replied that he and the Saputo Family, who owns the soccer team, have a good relationship, and he’s open to having discussions.

Or given CFM isn't on TVA Sports anymore and the CFL contract isn't up for renewal till 2025, he could be open to owning a Quebec CPL club & then show CPL on TVA. He owns 2 QMJHL teams.

That would certainly facilitate bringing a marquee ownership like Ottawa did with Madrid. The best case scenario for a Montreal CPL is a French giant owning the club

Joey Saputo could bid for a CPL team. He has the money and loves his soccer...he could use the IMPACT name again to generate interest. He would also be able to move players between Balogna, CF Montreal and the CPL Montreal team. Any thoughts ?

He said no to the idea of starting a CPL club and i doubt the league would let him either

They lost 2-0 but definitely have improved all 3 matches. They dominated possession and controlled much of the game.  They just need to be more clinical in the final 3rd.  I expect that will come with greater familiarity as quite a few changes up top. Rea was better this match, especially in the first half.

Shaffleburg had a brilliant finish to get his second.

Shaffleburg always an asset, where ever he is.
