During the broadcast of today's match vs York, Jenkins alluded to some off-field issues which may have hindered Escalante's season.  If true, it could be a reason for this transfer happening.

Escalante made his 100th appearance across all competitions for Cavalry today.

retire his jersey. be nice too see a player swap back as well

He is one of the young signings I was most excited about with VFC. Hope he gets more of a chance in Calgary.

So the idea is that you just trade around those players who can give you u-21 minutes? Once you are done with them you can send them off to another CPL club. They are like designated u-21 minute players working the league in the manner of a certain metaphor I guess we are not allowed to even insinuate anymore?

Mael Henry is 19, Cavarly could get a few years of U-21 minutes.  Potenially more of a long-term investment than a short term-fix.

I was surprised when Akio made the jump to Europe and not particularly surprised with his return to CPL. Lots of running, a bit of skill, not a whole lot of tactical polish. It will be interesting how he fits in with Cavalry.

Weren't there rumours he had some attitude or disciplinary issues at RC? More turning up late, lazy etc. than being confrontational with staff. He was in the side and actually doing well then dropped like a stone. Good to see him back in the league but Valour likely needed him back more than the Cavs.

Valour could use him, but I doubt they have the funds to sign anyone at all mid-season, and if they do spend money on anything other than a central striker it's a waste.

Too much time spent down the pub was the rumour I was aware of. Reasonable enough signing in CanPL terms but if he is filling the roster spot vacated by Escalante I don't think this strengthens the Cavalry in terms of overall roster quality.

The quote tweets on the Ross County transfer tweet point to a different issue.

I had to google that one too

All I know is that it isn’t a place where you want your adult soccer players to be spotted at.
Big shades of going to parties back in high school and there’s always some 4th year QMJHL player there that no one really knows but you kinda keep an eye on him whenever he’s talking to some girl from your class.
