Valour FC has "rights retained" for Jacob Carlos.  Not sure if that guarantees him a spot on the roster or just a spot at training camp.  He does not reenter the CPL-USports draft.

For the love of all things soccer, can we PLEASE draft Hidalgo-Mazzei. I genuinely believe having him and Haynes at left back will give us better options than last year.

I don't think Valour will use a draft pick on him. They could just simply sign him, he is a local lad and practically done at the U of S. Hope they do though.

I agree with your comment. He’s a local lad who has done more than enough to be considered for a spot on the team. He can clearly offer more than the wasted signing of Esparza last year and can certainly compete with Haynes for the left back position.

That is definitely an understatement. He has been at EVERY pre season training camp and even the try outs for the 2019 season. The guy deserves at least 1 season to show what he can do. I mean, he obviously wants to play or he wouldn't keep coming back. At the same time, someone at Valour must want him there or he wouldn't be invited back every year.

Don't know anything about him but we signed Abdou Samake from Pacific. Played 19 games for them last year (24 the year before).

Mikhael out is also a possibility. Given that Samake cam play anywhere across the back (like Mikhael), it would be a like for like.

It's a start, the offense isn't scaring anyone

                            Yesli
   Baquero - Samake - AJB - Haynes
Catavolo - Ohin - Gutierrez - Rendón
              De Brienne - Ponce

bench: Carlos

HIDALGO-MAZZEI, Aaron (Saskatchewan, LB, 4th year) and REVECO, Diego (Saskatchewan, WM, 1st year) were both with FC Manitoba last year and are both available in the draft.  With 199 players and only 16 to be chosen I think Valour can safely look elsewhere during the draft and still invite these 2 to training camp (if they choose) without fear of losing them.

I think Valour should look for forwards in the draft.

Take a punt on Henman from UNBC? Top scorer with 19 goals, although I feel he will end up at Vancouver FC. Balbinotti and Campoli both performed well and have (minor) CPL exposure too.

I agree with not drafting Hidalgo-Mazzei or Reveco but inviting them to training camp. Both would offer depth and (probably) wouldn't expect to start but would still do a job when needed.

Cebara was the pick of the bunch I think. A little surprised there but maybe he also wanted a change. So much work to do on the squad. Not confident the ownership will support enough to make it work.

That's how I feel.

Pena was a hometown squad player. Riggi wasn't good. Cebrara was the captain, and often (more so in the 2021 and 2020 seasons) made some sort of boneheaded mistake that led to an opposition goal.

PDS is going to have hard a hard time bring players to Winnipeg for 2 reasons:

1. Team has had no success

2. Winnipeg isn't exactly a sought after city for players to live in.

Kian Williams is rumoured to be going to Valour. Looks like a #10 that has experience in the Leicester academy but coming from an Iceland club.

I'm surprised Cebara is going, especially when he coaches a team in the MMSL. Pena and Riggi, I can go without but Cebara offered a degree of versatility. Genuinely disappointed that he has gone.

Other than the Leicester youth teams, the other English teams he has played for don't fill me with confidence. Keflavik offers some degree of hope though.

According to transfermarkt Williams was recently (Oct 2019-Feb 2020) with Stratford Town FC (English 7th tier), :(

fotbolti.net says he chose Valour over Cavalry.  Hoping that a good thing for Valour.

I agree although people likely said/thought the same about Ollie Bassett.
