I liked him but for $1.5 million in guaranteed compensation, we should be able to upgrade.  I'm sure there are a pair of $500 k defenders out in the world somewhere who would do really well in MLS, for example.

If it comes to fruition, that is great news for Jayden Nelson, sad for the team.  Next year will be tougher for him to get minutes at TFC, as they will be bringing in more veteran type players to help get better results.

It will also send a message to the younger players throughout their academy system, that there is a clear path to Europe if they stay at TFC.     As they come up through the system, they will make the senior team on merit, and as they get better, they will be sent on to Europe if that is what they want.  Too bad this mentality was not in place with Noble Okello and others, but at least it is step in the right direction, that TFC is willing to buy players and also to send them on to Europe.

Hopefully JMR/Thompson/other young players will use this as inspiration for improvement in the 2023 season.

Weirder and weirder, if Osorio goes wont that open up the midfield for someone??  Nelsen was coming more centrally later on in the season and he looked more effective there.  Bradley must really believe in JR and Kaye.

So Oso, Nelsen, Petrasso will potentially be gone.  5000min of CDN content.  I guess I am happy for them, and hope they get playing time wherever they go, but I am nervous about who they'll bring in to fill those gaps next year.

Not commenting on the specifics of this instance (if it happens) but I'm happy to see TFC selling/trading youngsters who no longer fit into their plans.  Previously they just cut the players loose.  That left the player fending for himself and got the team nothing.  This is better both ways.

It just makes the Petrasso trade more puzzling, since Criscito retiring was being rumoured before the surprise Petrasso trade was announced.

As an outsider watching the workings of this organization, I just get the feeling that they have no plan and are acting on a collective ADHD impulse.

It didn't seem like they had a clear playing plan on the field at the end of last season, either.

I'm bummed out by Criscito's departure.  I thought that he was the only player on TFC who consistently played at a high level, and I had hoped that some of that would rub off on his team mates.  If he wasn't a good fit, then it tells me that the rest of the team is far below his level, which is depressing.

Maybe he felt that he couldn't play with  many of these guys so found a way to get out of Dodge.

This is where I am disappointed with TFC. Why transfer Petrasso. He played great, and he doesn't cost much. Now with criscito leaving and getting 300k for petrasso, they better be smart and pick up a couple of proven defenders.

They will.  I mean, they have to, right?  There's no real choice.  Also, getting $300 k for Petrasso and dropping $1.5 million from Criscito leaves a lot of room.
