Match Thread: Voyageurs Cup - Final - Vancouver Whitecaps vs Toronto FC - July 26, 2022

Cubas was fantastic. Caps executed a great game plan. More talent on TFC, but the Caps are much younger. They worked their tails off, as my dad would say.

Caps still need one or two more quality players. Gressel will help, once he settles in. TFC is going to be amazing once the Italian-Italians settle in, which won't take much longer. Playing with guys like Insigne and Bernaleftfootonly (but what a left foot!) should help Oso and Ayo and Jayden et al. raise their levels.

But proud of the Caps tonight. We played excellent Italian football tonight.

Cubas and Gauld were excellent. Best Gauld has looked all season IMO. White too, guy just seems to find a way. I think TFC bought into their hype a bit - didn’t deal very well with a team that counters.

Congrats to Vancouver - they played well tonight.  Conceded a fair bit of possession but executed their plan.   And pushed on all night by a great crowd tonight.

Did the crowd look lively on TV?

I felt the non supporter sections really warmed up after our goal and the ref allowing TFC to foul our buildup a few times, bit of controversy to get them going. We have poor acoustics at BC Place so it's hard to tell.

The place seemed loud on the pirate stream I was watching for the second half.
